    Thank you for the video. I just changed the strainer on my 2538. Same strainer, different location and of course there was a brace in the way. Anyways, there was a metric shit-ton of metal shards and old RTV in there. Glad I found this helpful tutorial and thankful to get that stuff cleaned out.

    I watch your videos and find them useful and informative... It may have been more helpful had you shown the radiator fluid reservoir container - for those who may not know what it should read (if this tractor has one)... Also, it would have been more helpful if you showed how the hydraulic fluid filter was cleaned after it was removed.

  • @rodneydixon473
    @rodneydixon473 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If you unbolt the two bolts on the hydraulic filter bracket. The pipe will move out of the way of the transmission strainer pipe. Making it much easier to remove transmission strainer.

    • @Hfoutdoorsyt

      On the 4540 there is a bolt on the floorboard by your right foot. That is the dipstick. It is right beside the gear shifter and sometimes has a yellow sticker that has "transmission oil" written on it. That's the dipstick for the hydraulic fluid levels. 👍

    We're still playing catch-up on the lack of maintenance our tractor received before we bought it. Just did the oil and filter change on my truck yesterday (170,000 miles). Also did the fuel filter, I don't know how our vehicles run on the filthy diesel they sell us!

  • @tenncutt
    @tenncutt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @Hfoutdoorsyt
      @Hfoutdoorsyt  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I used Diesel fuel and a paint brush to clean it. Placed it in a bucket, submerged the strainer in the fuel and used the brush to wipe out the debris. Hope that answers your question.

    • @tenncutt
      @tenncutt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hfoutdoorsyt thanks. This is the first diesel I have owned in my 62 years. Gonna be a learning curve. Never used diesel fuel as a cleaner either because I never had any! Work pretty good?

    • @Hfoutdoorsyt
      @Hfoutdoorsyt  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it worked great. Came real clean. 👍 I suppose one of those scrub brushes may work too. That strainer is kind of like a hard screen wire so it's pretty durable.

    • @Hfoutdoorsyt

      @tenncutt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hfoutdoorsyt wow that much? How much does Mahindra charge for their oil and what do they call it? My dealer said to use 303 oil which isn't recommended for anything built after 1974!

    • @tenncutt
      @tenncutt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hfoutdoorsyt geez I guess I should watch the whole video before asking stupid questions! I just did. Thanks. How much did you have to pay for Mahindra oil?

    • @Hfoutdoorsyt
      @Hfoutdoorsyt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly don't remember. but I definitely wouldn't use 303. LOL. I would think the Mahidnra oil is $18-$25 per gallon unless you buy it in a 5 gallon container. I am using all Mahindra branded oils and lubricants and parts until the warranty expires, then I'll research other brands. But that's just me. Several other people love other brands for their tractors. Sorry I couldn't remember the price.
