I loved the greater emphasis on the marines in season 1. The parallel between pirates and marines is a dynamic that's important to establish. Neither are good or evil. People are driven by complex motivations, rarely just 'good' or 'evil'.
still they shouldnt have given that much of a screentime to the marines. it should have went to straw hats

Yeah, me too but I also think it would be really scary too because
Luffy gets frostbite from the cold and I could be really scary to be done in live action. It was already scary in the animation but I do hope they pull it off

I dont like the idea that it would be Garp being the one telling Smoker that he will be receiving all the credit for Alabasta and covering up the straw hats. it kinda goes against his entire moral code. Garp would never cover something up for the Navy, especially not if Luffy is involved. it would lean further into the worries people had about Garp in season one, him being more like Akainu than Garp himself.
It could go something like this:
Garp:Smoker,I've got a message from HQ,they want to give you and your Petty Officer(I think that was her rank at the time?) All the credit for the dismantling of Baraque Works
Smoker:Tell them to shove it!
Garp: Bwahahaha!I'll make sure of it
Smoker:"hangs up the snail"
~Meanwhile on Garp's ship~
Garp: Bwahahaha!
Coby and Helmepo:"jaws hanging on the floor(figurative speaking)"He said WHAT!?!
@@petrenicolae3282 that would work in the anime lol, but yeah your general idea could work; but I also don’t see Garp outright disrespecting the Navy himself, even on the behalf of someone else. it also doesn’t feel like Garp. he does what he wants, he doesn’t go out of his way to upset the Navy.

if the Live Action could do anything more right, it's to give Ace more screen time than he really got, in the Anime we got barely any time at all.
Honestly Koby and Helmeppo's friendship duo thing grew on me :^)!! Im most Excited for the Alabasta arc and Ace
I've had this idea of Koby & Helmeppo meeting Jango & Fullbody while through Loguetown. And Jango explaining that he made a deal with the marines about the fact that Kuro's still alive.
I’m waiting for season 2!!!! The first season was amazing!!!!!
My own "There's no way that'll happen" idea on an adaptation of Jango's Dance Paradise would be a small lore drop on Mirrorball of "500 years ago, some master alchemist came here and somehow fed the Dance Dance fruit to the island" Possibly with a few nods indicating that Queen may have been there for a while studying it. Because Queen is the dancing scientist, and if he was trying to recreate this trick and failed, Vegapunk's success feeding objects devil fruits could be one more cause for his animosity.
Smoker is one of my favorite One Piece characters. However, I am so nervous that his introduction is going to fall flat in the live action. Because they spent so much time with the marines and had both Garp, Koby and Helmeppo as “good” then the impact of Smoker being a honorable man won’t hit as hard. I’m worried they’re going to characterize him as the way he is in current manga arcs. Someone extremely serious and no nonsense.
But to me when he first showed up he was like a hotshot sheriff who skirted the rules. He leaned more into the biker delinquent yankee personality that matched his design. He’s the kind of lawman that would’ve said “Go ahead and make my day.” Actually I guess he did do that with some of the pirates in town before running into Luffy.
We need a conclusion to Kuro. He escaped from Syrup village on a boat. It would be weird if that plot point just got lost because even Don Krieg just got axed by Mihawk, instead of fading into obscurity after being defeated by Luffy in manga/anime.
If we're to introduce Captain Hina and her 2 underlings, who would in the end catch Bon Clay, it would be fitting that Jango is finally introduced, and Kuro seeks him out in an attempt to help him escape, and in a plot twist, it's revealed that Jango had switched sides and the meeting was a trap. How Kuro gets taken out, get creative. Either Smoker intervenes, Hina takes care of him, or Jango takes him out in a comedic way.

I'm more concerned about how Chopper is going to happen. I hope it's a kind of motion capture, similar to Seth McFarland's performance as Ted. I want to play this character so bad, I made a Chopper marionette. I do have years of stage acting experience and I made audition videos. I think having an adult woman playing this role would help keep the cute without having to deal with aging child actors. Also Chopper is a shapeshifter, so body doubles would be needed for some forms anyway.
I dont think there will be enough time for both groups of marines. Koby, helmeppo and garp should probably be sidelined so smoker and tashihi get the screentime they deserve.
season 2 needs to be much bigger than season 1 imo, not only does Luffy, Vivi and the Straw Hats need to get together, they need to meet Ace, Chopper and Nico Robin who betrays Crocodile at the end. also i dunno about you, but they cant be slouching on Karoo or Bon Clay aka Mr. 2 for that matter, new people may not understand the importance of that duck, but the fans know how goated he is. not to mention Bon Clay and the Straw Hats need to befriend each other to make sense about Bon's sacrifice.
I hope they don’t spend too much time with Garp, Koby and Helmeppo.
the show is adapting a series with a giant number of supporting and reoccurring characters. we can’t condition the audience to expect certain characters to reappear constantly. instead, audiences of the live action need to be conditioned to not seeing characters for a while after their first main arc has been completed. it’s okay to let Koby and Garp do their own thing. have them be seen every now and again so they aren’t completely forgotten and still feel present, but their screen time should be greatly reduced.
if the show goes down the route of trying to make them all feel equally relevant all the time, it will just become cluttered. they really should be reduced to just a few scenes this season. maybe like 5.
Smoker and Tashigi should be the ones taking over the B Plot antagonistic role that Garp played in the first season. if they’re going to expand any characters to fit that B Plot role then it should be them. and tying the personal connection to Zoro this time through Tashigi, instead of Garp and Luffy, would help to distinguish the B Plot as not just being a retread of the first season.
I wouldn't mind if Smoker and Tashigi get extended scene, the same way Garp and Coby did.
They're my favorite marines and I definitely miss them in the anime.

I think the actor for koby is young enough to show his glow up.. probably and also a good enough actor to put his full effort into it.
Also I hope we have at least 10 episodes now considering it was well received. If that happened we can have a decent amount of time for each island and have at least 2 for drum island and 3 for alabasta
Even with 8 we can still have 2 episodes for Drum Island and 3 for Alabasta.

since Django was removed from season 1 (outside of a wanted poster you can see in the first episode for one second); and Fullbody being reduced to a rude customer in Baratie that gets beat by Sanji in 10 seconds and not acknowledged again; I don’t think they will focus at all on their cover story, since it’s pretty pointless to One Piece overall.
especially since this season already is covering more content than season one, and heavier arcs with less room for content to be removed.
the Alabasta Saga + the remaining 5 east blue chapters is 122 chapters to adapt in season 2. season 1 adapted 95 chapters. we can’t bog down season 2 with more unnecessary content and content. yes having the potential of season 2 being 10 episodes instead of 8 would help, but that’s still at the same pacing at season 1, chapters to episodes wise.
if anything, I think they will act more as a Cameo. instead of doing what the manga did and slowly giving more character to old characters, it would be more like cameos for people who recognise minor characters in earlier seasons.
I’m very curious what they are going to do with the Marines in the story because I do want all the characters to come back, but makes sense in the story narrative for the story
Garp is so awesome and very strong but still I can't forget he let ace died infront of him

we need to be realistic on how far the live action can go considering the age of the actors, the huge money invested and how long it takes for each season to be completed. it will be a miracle if the live action can cover all pre time skip
i dont think they should put much focus on events happening post time skip bc the live action wont last that long. we'll never reach wano, egghead etc so why mold the plot of the live action for it?
for example: arcs like little garden, although important now, should be skipped in the live action. we'll never get to the point where elbaf becomes relevant again so it doesnt make sense wasting money on little garden when it can be used far more effectively in other parts
Casting a trans man early into his transition for Koby was such a perfect casting decision, by the time he shows up again in the story the glow up wil be SO REAL. I dont know if it was done on purpose but damn, it fits Koby and his arc like a glove!
Hopefully there's no self-deletion happening before that.

@@onepieceexplained I played it on different devices and I can still, it's just noticable enough to the point where it becomes slightly distracting and it's akin to something like vocal fry (extreme exemple here: th-cam.com/users/shortsiY-ehIyRY_Q ) I'm pretty sure it has to do with you mic settings
