      SURE: Consider these facts:
      (1) When Carlsen made his last move ng4, he had only 7 seconds left on the clock.
      That was the absolute pressure to make a wrong calculation (which could have been that he could chase whites Bishop sitting on f6 limiting black king's movement. And also, he would have thought that he could also limit White King at the same time.
      (2) Even though the position was equal and sure drawish, after Carlsen's 25th move Nc5, Pragg's reply wasn't respectful of the world champion. Instead, he went on challenging the world champion. This act itself is a psychological pressure on Carlsen.
      You could see Carlsen's displeasure on his face after 25. Rd1 by Pragg. Players hardly express these manifestations.
      Sure Carlsen wasn't mentally willing to continue, but he was relatively forced.
      And, the Sagar Shah remarking on that was indeed commendable. @1.25
      Thus, the pressure slowly started from the move 25 psychologically. But it was on his last move Carlsen blundered.

  • @kalyanp5504
    @kalyanp5504 2 ปีที่แล้ว +851

    Why do people offer so many excuses when Carlsen loses. I am sure if you were to ask Magnus, he would gladly accept that Prag won it fair and square. This type of situational blunders do happen due to time pressure, momentary wanderings of the mind or loss once concentration. That is the beauty of the game when humans play. Accept that Prag has beaten Magnus and move on. It is a new era.

    For dawn of a new era, as people saying in the comments, one of the following things will have to happen:
    1) Pragg beats Magnus in WC or just wins WC against anyone
    2) Pragg overtakes Magnus in ratings or atleast reaches 2800
    3) Pragg wins more tournaments than Magnus for a period of time (while playing in the same tournaments)
    There is a good chance that this happens in the future (hoping it does), but yet to be achieved.
    Some Indian GM has to reach in the top 10 first (other than Vishy), to be an actual contender.
    As it was a dawn of New era when Magnus started having the top rating and then won the WC against Vishy and then maintained the status quo for years, some fraction of that magnitude will have to be done.

  • @R4J4N
    @R4J4N 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Consider these facts:
    (1) When Carlsen made his last move Ng4, he had only 7 seconds left on the clock. That's how pressure was put on Carlsen to make a wrong calculation (An assumption that he could chase Whites Bishop sitting on f6 that could limit black king's movement. At the same time, he could also restrict White King).
    Sure, Carlsen wasn't mentally willing to continue, but he was relatively forced.
    And the Sagar Shah remarking on that was indeed commendable. @1:20
    Thus, the pressure slowly started from the 25th move psychologically. Even though it was on his last move, Carlsen blundered.
    Sometimes, luck favours the brave!

    • @suryaxnsh
      @suryaxnsh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah in order to be respectful to the world Champion magnus Carlsen, prag had to abide by the rules that you cannot play certain moves because they disrespect the world Champion. Everyone plays for the win no matter what and blunder is a part of the game there's no point defending Magnus for the blunder l. It was fair and square for prag

    • @swetagupta9133

      why is it disrespectful If pragg didn't go for draw and chose to challenge Carlsen...?

    • @R4J4N
      @R4J4N 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@suryaxnsh, Disrespectful means not in a sense being rude or insulting.
      Praggs opponent, Carlsen, is the undisputed World Champion, with almost 200 rating points on top him.
      And when the game is nothing but drawish, and there was an accurate indication of a draw expected, as the commentators explained. You wouldn't want to lose that opportunity to draw a game with such calibre of player.
      But, Pragg chooses to challenge Carlsen. So, in that sense, we can say it was disrespectful not to take that chance to draw with him.

    • @juliocadavid6640
      @juliocadavid6640 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah like carlsen has never been in pressure before in a game. That position wasnt that big for gms, he just played by intuition cause not much time to calculate. Pressure? I still have a feeling that Carlsen does not take this tournament series very seriously. He probably has very profitable contract besides official prize money, but he blunders so often and so badly, it is not characteristic for him. It is not like he miscalulates long variations and goes wrong on 8th move, he cant see even disaster happening on next move ! It is not GM 2800+ blunders, it is 1600 player blunders . But he is still rapid 2847 , he did not drop to 1600 level suddenly .It can only be explained by that his attention is not 100 % on chess. I think something is very wrong with his motivation.
    Add that talk about not playing next World Champion match if challenger is not Firuzja and you get one bored and unmotivated champion. Few years ago he would be in furious rage after blunders like that and on previous tournament, now he is like :" well, ...I lost, what we have for dinner tonight ?
