Oh trust me, everyone gets their own song and their chance to shine!! In the first act they get moments to themselves then in the next act they play different characters and some will have more songs too. But man you’re gonna LOVE all the Burr performances. There’s more and they’re SO GOOD! Burr performances are my personal favorite!
I designed a tattoo of Burrs ‘I am inimitable, I am an original’ for my Hamilton obsessed best friend. I’d not seen or heard of Hamilton at the time so I wasn’t sure what I was sketching but as soon as I’d finished it I watched the one on Disney plus and finally understood her love for it.
Leslie Odom Jr. said in the Hamilton book (which talked about how the show was developed) that he thinks Aaron Burr is one of the finest roles for a man of color in modern theater, and he's absolutely right - but that's also *BECAUSE* he himself set the bar so high.
I think “Wait For It” is still my favorite song of any musical. I love Leslie Odom Jr’s voice but for me it’s the lyrics. So many I could single out, but ultimately it’s both identifiable for pretty much anyone and such a well-thought narrative by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It further humanizes Burr and makes him a sympathetic character. While he and Hamilton have very different approaches, they aren’t much different in their ultimate goals. Not just a song about a woman but about his entire life’s philosophy Theodosia Barstow Prevost was a real person and the affair is actual history. Her beliefs leaned toward the Patriots, and she offered her house as a meeting place for the revolutionaries, and this is how she met Aaron Burr. They got married after her British soldier husband died and had a daughter who, as you have seen from the musical, is also named Theodosia.
Theodosia married to man named Alston, and died quite young after the ship she was on, The Patriot, was lost at sea in a storm, pirate legends notwithstanding.
Daveed gets a couple songs to shine on as Lafayette and Jefferson, but Tony and Oke not really. Jasmine gets 1 song, and Renee and Philippa have some amazing pieces. The show is mostly about Hamilton's and Burr's relationship/similarities & differences.
Oke (Hercules Mulligan) may not have his own song, but he’s a highlight in “Yorktown”. Anthony’s highlights are more acting than singing, even though he has a lovely voice. Only so much can be squeezed into a musical. There was so much talent.
anthony does however basically own 'blow us all away' that was.. amazing oh my goodness.. and then obviously 'what'd i miss' is moreso daveeds song as jefferson, however oke comes in as madison and when he says 'control', i dont know why but its just.. amazing
I'm very late to these reactions lol but Wait for It is my favorite song from this whole musical. Leslie's voice is incredible and to an extent the lyrics are pretty relatable
I reckon for the next few videos you should do: [Stay Alive, Ten Duel Commandments, Meet me inside] [That Would be enough] [Guns and Ships, History has its eyes on you] [Yorktown] [What comes next? Dear Theodosia, Laurens interlude] [Non-Stop] And that will finish Act One for you.
Another Great Reaction. Love how you paid close attention to pick up on the insight into Burr as a character. He was very much an opportunistic wait to see how the cards are falling before picking a side type of person in real life, but this really does give insight into how his upbringing may have affected that (to a degree). “Stay alive” and “the ten duel commandments” are the next two that would be good to react to together. Followed by “meet me inside” and that would be enough”. “Guns and Ships”, “History has it’s eyes on you” and “Yorktown (the world turned upside down)” all three would probably be good to do together. One of them is a shorter song. Also you will get to see Layfayette, Lauren’s, and Mulligan each get an opportunity to shine again in act one. Each of those actors will come back in act two as completely new characters because in Broadway it’s common for Dual Casting (although I still propose the term Duel Casting for this show. Lol).
This is one of my favorite songs in Hamilton, if not my favorite. I was able to see it performed in person before covid. Also, love the perspective, found you a day or two ago and I’m subbed
My suggestion for breaking up the songs would be to use when the screen goes dark as your breaks. That said, the next stretch would be one of the longest stretches of the first act as the next four songs are really a complete scene. If that is too long for you, I'd do the Stay Alive, Ten Duel Commandments, and Meet Me Inside together then That Would Be Enough on its own. I'm so glad to see you are enjoying it so far. ☺️
What I find funny is I looked up to see if any of the guys beside Hamilton and Burr got married... they were all married at this point, other than Hamilton and Burr.
Hello! I know this is a sort of old video but if you're looking for more vocals by John Laurens (Hamilton's best friend, "Well I heard, you got a special someone on the side, Burr") then I recommend reacting to the 15 minute(might be a little longer) musical: 21 Chump Street It's short, written by the same guy who wrote and played Hamilton, and the main character is played by the actor who played John Laurens
The four ensemble members seem to represent Theososia, his grandfather and his parents; how they're almost always in the back of his mind and driving him ahead.

I'm late but...there's a book on the musical?
I only knew of the biography that it's based on^^

IMHO Burr has the two best songs of the musical!

Keep that Hamilton coming, you have a long way to go! Please and thanks :)
Well, to be fair to Hamilton, she was married to the enemy, so any vows to that guy meant nothing.
Uhh, Imma just…🤐
😂
I know this is a year old but Daveed gets a serious vocal upgrade.
The four ensemble members seem to represent Theososia, his grandfather and his parents; how they're almost always in the back of his mind and driving him ahead.
John Lawrence was married and had a daughter at this time.
Hamilton messed up...bad advice. Theodosia's husband would put her on the first ship back to England so Burr has to wait.
this is when you created the patreon ❤ it's the best
The next 2 songs could go together.
Also did you get the playlist for Julie and the Phantoms?
Starting that tonight
❤❤❤
