All that and they can't guarantee me a gluten free vegetarian meal. Yet I can walk on a Ryanair or Easyjet plane and get a hot main meal suitable for my needs without reordering.

I always fly Economy class, and on most airlines, we eat the same food, and arrive at the same destination as 1st class does...

You don't get caviar in eco, but you do in Business class. And the food is WAAAY better in business. But if we compare Emirates eco vs other airlines, it's one of the best Eco meals I've ever had. Just kinda sad they're not in One World or Star Alliance, so I could abuse my miles.
