I had the pleasure of seeing MJQ in concert several times - including their 40th Anniversary tour...unforgettable concerts. They are all gone now...but they left an eternal legacy of the finest smooth jazz.
@@Alanpie314 Of course it's great jazz, Alan - it's also very smooth on my ears. Not all jazz is...and 2 years on, I'm back to listen to this concert again :)
At : 4:02 Milt Jackson drops his left-hand stick - hardly skips a beat. I wish I'd seen them live. 2023 , March 10 the , Myrtle Beach ,at a rainy day after 78 years of my life , watching this video , but the quality of the sound ,by recording is fantastic , and I can imagine that night at Netherlands , 1986 living in Los Angeles , and the recording studios were busy , night clubs , Las Vegas, San Francisco and all over USA , it was great to see groups, that never had time to relax , Jazz never died ! and never will ! Applauses to this part of our lives !
I wish I had a chance of seeing The MJQ, they are all gone. They are all alive in my music collection. My children are playing the collection I made. Thank you so very much where you are.
I saw them once, in Washington, DC, and that night they swung so hard that the audience became energized to the point of stomping and yelling, and the MJQ looked astonished, but kept on soaring! Unforgettable.
Great performance. Milt Jackson is fantastic also the bass player; the piano is formidable, and he is playing very at ease... Beautiful, Beautiful. Thank you. Krikor from L. A. CA.
Fantastic ! I'm amazed with the quality of this recording. Percy Haeth's bass is crystal clear! I wonder if the room plays a part. Even the announcer at the start sounded peachy! I don't speak Dutch but I could almost understand him! Cheers for the upload.
Einfach genial. Diese vier. Ich hatte das Vergnügen sie einmal in Zürich life zu hören. Wollte wegen Milt mit 20 Jahren vibraphon lernen. Ist dann plano draus geworden.

My dream came true in 1982 when I had the privilege of seeing my Dream Quartet in concert here in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺. They came via Melbourne, Australia returning from Japan in a Reunion tour. I thought that I would never see them after they disbanded. Allah uAkbar! God is great and fulfilled my dream and I was blessed to see them. ❤ Perfection is shown here. Their instruments were checked before they started to perform. Instrument Tuner checked every one on stage whether they were tuned absolutely perfect. The temperature and humidity in our concert hall would have an effect on the string instruments like the Piano and Bass. The MJQ was the epitome of PERFECTION! (Bryan Abrahams, Jazz Historian 1958, Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺).
Valioso intérprete del celestial cool jazz. Tanta delicadeza desborda la imaginación y el tranquilo y sereno sonar del vibrafono transporta a dimensiones donde está música lo es todo !!!
Bags sounds great, and his great sidemen are perfect and keeping it light ( but swinging.). so as not to overshadow the naturally light vibraphone... what a great band!... this was just before he recorded his CTI recordings, which established him as a solo artist...(Olinga, Sunflower)
I wish I had known them during the 70’s and 80’s when I had been mainly interested in Southern Rock, which had led me to Blues and eventually to Jazz of my father’s generation, through my having recorded his albums onto cassettes.
Se percibe la perfección de esta musica excepcional mucho mejor a través de unos audífonos de calidad. La sincronía del bajo, particularmente, con el vibrafono raya en la perfección absoluta !!!
