ABOUT -This was the press-release for the concert:
For many people in the fifties the music of Dave Brubeck was some sort of introduction to jazz. His music was accessible, fresh and very popular. He was admired for his own inimitable style: the block chords, the asymmetrical metres (5/4, 9/8) and the angular syncopated timing. The critics highly praised his first avant-garde ensemble, the Dave Brubeck Octet in San Francisco. The hit Take Five, composed by band member Paul Desmond, proved to be a turnaround. While millions of copies of Brubeck’s LP Time Out were sold, the critics scorned this ‘music for cocktail parties’. Miles Davis, Gerry Mulligan, Louis Armstrong and Charles Mingus, who were always loud in praise of Brubeck, put some heart into him. Brubeck is a living legend in his late eighties, who still proves to be an extremely lyrical musician.

Old musicians never die, they just turn the page!
No matter what goes on in the world its nice to know we can all agree on one thing, this music is beautiful.
The fact Brubeck could still play at this level in his mid 80s is incredible. It’s sad that almost all of the people from his generation are gone now.
They are gone, but they will be with us forever.
I appreciate the contributions made by all the great jazz masters. Theirs has massively affected millions throughout the last century.
Man that's another fellow playing Alto I couldn't find Dave Brubeck hit in one note on the whole album or whatever it's supposed to be. Let me know if I'm wrong!
Talent like Brubeck's never ends - he was 84 years young at this time!! Still playing in the heavenly realms, I'm sure!!
The performance of this song was "FORMIDABLE" as was the Maestro's drum solo! 👍👋👋👋👋
Thank you @North Sea Jazz Archive ❤👍
These songs will resonate forever
I saw Dave Brubeck in Concert in Charleston WV in the early 1970’s it was perfect.
Jim
I saw Jimi Hendrix and Chicago Transit Authority in Charleston, WV, in June 1970. It's a shame that I didn't know about Dave's quartet playing there during the same time period. I was already transitioning to jazz at the time. As a drummer, I've always place Joe Morello at the top of my list.
How could anyone not love Joe?
The man, the legend. Nothing better than Dave and his boys!
Such magnificent musicians, great Masters in yheif individual field !
Faboulous 🏹 One of the best things I inherited from my father, “listening to Dava Brubeck”. 🪂
Ouvir é opção, mas o like é obrigatório!
I think in my candid opinion, this is the sax player's show
This is my favorite music album and often listen to it.❤❤❤
Everybody sounds great full stop. And Michael Moore has to be one of the most underrated jazz soloists ever. Pure music that transcends the instrument he plays both pizz and with the bow.
Always sound great to listen Jazz❤❤😂😂
From 2004 to 2024! 2:04
Agree with you @lazdow9229
Absolutely fantastic.
Our incredible sax player Bobby from Buffalo!
Amazing! :-)
This sax player is the real deal; his off kilter lazy loopy phrases evoke Bird without being imitations.
Yea!!! I saw him playing at Tralfamadore Cafe in the eighties last century.
I also saw Jeff Tyzik & Alan Vizzutti there.
@@user-yp1xt8fx2x Bobby took over the Tralf for a while...but then it went under, I believe it was because most Jazz artists couldn't draw enough crowds.
Great production. Nice to see Dave's still at it.
Bravo! 1000 times ❤
MAGNIFIQUE VIDEO!!! MILITELLO A BIEN REMPLACÉ DESMOND. VIDEO HISTORIQUE ET ONTOLOGIQUE !!! VIVE LA VIE ET LE JAZZ !!!
Wonderful music❤❤❤
I just found this band and now I can't stop playing their songs they are so amazing
Getting along in years aren't they? I do so Miss the Phenomenal Artistry of the original, Paul Desmond, and Drummer Joe Morello.
Old jazz smoother,, more mellow and sweeter.
I miss the stodge of joe dodge too , all great !
"Elegie" est un véritable bijou. J'adore
Fabulous 😍

Brubeck gathered other sacred monsters.
Magnifica performance
❤❤❤
What an outstanding "Baroque Style" improv on Yesterdays near 21:10 ! Love it.
Wonderful ❤
Un maravilloso regalo. Veteranía traducida en pura excelencia. Gracias.
I just turned 80. I can still play some of the transcriptions that his brother published. Like "The Duke" I hope I can still play at 84.
Diamond gems all of them😊
Wow,wow,just masters. Soooooo gooooood🎶🎶🎶🎶👏👏👏👏👏
🇧🇷Great!!!!!
♥♥♥
Bravoooo!!!!
Bravo!
Que alegria. Leyenda disfrutando.
🥰🥰🥰🥰😊😊😊😊
❤❤
Alto sound and the approach just doesn't fit in there does it ?
I live close to the Newport jazz festival, and have to tell you this crowd is nothing like the one Brubeck played for in 1960, when the fans rushed the stage and burned the piano. Why would you burn an innocent piano? Let’s just hope it wasn’t a bosendorfer. Oscar Peterson on a bosendorfer piano…WOW
THE BEST FROM BRUBECK??

This sax player doesn’t sit well, compared to his predecessor in DBQ-forget his name, shame on me.
I agree. This saxophonist, while very good, isn't Paul Desmond.
