Hi Kim, love your video's, been lurking for a while. What a lot of people don't realize, is one of the reasons the drill shades don't match others is, the company might have substituted in another DMC. Let's say a company runs out of a color or dye, they'll use a DMC substitution chart and pick out the next best color. Joan Diamond Paints has even tried this method of using a substitution chart and it worked. This is the method I myself use when I have shades that don't match when I'm kitting down and nine out of ten times it works. If you want to, try it a few times and your mind will be blown.
Another reason why I think this is the case for your kit here is this might be one of DAC's older kits which might mean the Drills are acrylic rather than resin. and since most budget diamond painting companies use acrylic drills the two 301's might match each other.

I have done embroidery for years (mmm, cough, decades, really) and the colors on the DMC numbers never change, except for very slight variations in dye lots. I have some skeins that belonged to my grandmother, who bought them in the fifties and sixties, and they match with skeins I bought this year!

I have the same problem as you when i'm trying to match up the colors of a DMC number. I did a couple of old kids from DAC this year and the colors were totally different than what they are now. The only thing that I do different from you. Is that I have one big bag for each number and if the color is different, I'll use one of the little bags from DAC to put them in and I then put that inside the big bag. Hope that makes sense. 💜😊💜
That does make sense! Eventually I’m going to have to make a decision lol. I’m not there yet. Hehe
for stickers that wont come off easily, grab your hairdryer and use the heat to 'melt' the glue of the sticker it helps them peel off so much easier i use this trick on pretty much everything with a sticker on it that i need to peel off, it can leave a little residue sometimes, if there is residue use some rubbing alcohol :)

I love your set up! I have over a year's worth of left over drills from kits with nowhere to put them. Hoping someday I will have a nice box with dividers, tabs, etc. Probably will end up having to buy one and they can be so expensive 💲💲💲.
They can be expensive! Maybe just buy the box at a discount store like TJ Maxx or Marshall’s like I did for $7. And buy the dividers from add more zest or something? It would be cheaper than buying the entire set. ❤️❤️

What did you do with your painting “Where the fun never ends”? Did you frame it? I’m just not getting around to organizing my left over drills. I was throwing them away. 😮 A friend I met on an event was using a system from an Etsy company…. So I bought that today. Can’t wait to get it. Have a good week… 👍
