    Just some things I’ve heard about leasing while going through my psd training phase with prime. I heard they take money out of your check automatically for tires/maintenance. Also, I heard your truck will still be on warranty and you can still get insurance through prime. This was told to me by someone who is getting ready to lease and he spoke to someone who is currently in a lease with prime.

    I've been searching for good knowledge on leasing versus company driving and I think this video actually has some of the best knowledge in it their found anywhere I like the whole idea of being covered driver for 6 to 9 months before making your decision that just kind of hedges your bet there

    Yep. Good points. Good to see you. Who makes more depends on the driver. I have made more than some lease ops and know some lease who make more than me. The true comparison is the PROFIT in cents per mile. Revenue minus operation costs divided by miles for "Lease to date" is the best way to determine your actual profits. Many lease ops do not know what those numbers are. They aren't prepared and have the potential to get themselves in trouble.

    • @TwiztedD
      @TwiztedD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right

    • @wbrown8080
      @wbrown8080 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The big difference between company and lease op is one can actually see the expenses and the other doesn’t. If the truck isn’t moving on either side nobody is making money. Either way every truck has a payment and I’m sure Prime doesn’t want to flip the bill for every company vehicle on the fleet so it becomes the drivers responsibility. Just because you don’t see the expenses doesn’t mean you’re not paying it by running.

    • @TruckerKearsey
      @TruckerKearsey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@wbrown8080 there is a whole lot more to it than that. As a lease ops you are obliged to a $10k negligence fee for accidents such as roll overs, jack knife etc. A company driver just gets fired OR even put back into training. The lease ops is financially responsible for the load....which means if you have a hard break or take a curve too fast and didn't secure it...you are responsible for the $50,000 plus. One guy ruined a load over a million dollars. So one false move can bankrupt a lease but get a company driver fired. And company drivers actually do get paid to sit....vacation pay (i get 3 weeks a year) sick.pay, break down pay. I also have workmans comp which lease ops don't and many don't have health coverage. So I get hurt i am covered.

    • @wbrown8080
      @wbrown8080 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TruckerKearsey and if you prepare yourself as a “business owner” you’ll have those parts the same way as a company driver. If you do have a roll over you will be terminated and guess what company is going to pick you up after that on your record. I’m not here to argue which is better all that I’m saying is a truck note, gas and insurance has to be paid by any driver regardless company or lease. Hence the words if you don’t run nobody makes money.

    • @wbrown8080
      @wbrown8080 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TruckerKearsey plus you just made my point because someone is still responsible for expenses. As a company driver you don’t see them.

    My advice for anyone new looking at going with prime. I’d tell them to go somewhere like Knight instead for their CDL. Because I’m sorry Primes TNT forced teams training is incredibly longer than any other training company out there. Knights is 4 weeks then you get your own truck. And unlike prime it’s not a “maybe”. With prime you get your 30k and upgrading is a “maybe”. I’ve heard of people having to spend another 4 weeks on a trainers truck doing teams before they were allowed to upgrade. Then do 6 months with knight and bounce over to prime and you get out of the 3-4 months of their bullshit TNT training that’s frankly making prime and the trainers a killing at the expense of the new driver.
