This series is such a breath of fresh air, really reminds me of the time when my dad and I used to watch really long Let's Plays together in the evenings. I'm glad I committed the past 2 weeks to catching up with this. I hope you and your family is doing well!
Btw, I think you can adjust the amount of crops the mod Beautiful Cities of Daggerfall spawns around the cities. Just decrease that amount drastically.
about beautiful cities, I looked around and found this on the mod's nexus page: If you are getting long loading times and low framerates, that's because of the huge cropfields this mod adds around cities. You can now adjust the Crop Density slider to the RMB Resource Pack's mod settings. Try setting it to 5 or 6. This will greatly decrease the number of billboards in the cropfields BCoD adds around the cities and should dramatically lower loading times and framerate drops.
Thanks! I'm going to make note of that, but I'm keeping the mod disabled for now. I've made a bad habit of installing new mods mid-playthrough with Bogard, but I'll revisit the idea when we make our next one
@@micah_raygun_ Very smart of you, I installed a bunch of mods mid playthrough and now for some reason my ship corrodes my enchanted items whenever I'm inside it 🥲
If you're interested in playing Kings Field, I'll also suggest Lunacid. I just started it and it's similar to Kings Field while having it's own unique style. Hope all is well!
Lunacid is great. I actually played Lunacid first and then Kings Field 1. Also Dread Delusion is a great Morrowind like game with some similarities to KF too
I actually saw Lunacid in my recommended games on Steam recently, which reminded me of King's Field. Part of me wants to play the KF series to get an idea of the series history, but that's a lot of games and time to sink into it 🤔 it'll be on the back burner for a bit regardless, I dont have a lot of time for non-Daggerfall gaming
Oh man, PS1 was such a vibe. Spyro, Syphon Filter, FF, MGS, Tenchu. Absolutely iconic. And a lot of games didn’t even use analog sticks yet. 😵💫 And yeah, Silent Hill with tank controls is the one true way. 😆
First, I love the long videos because I can just watch/listen to it in chunks as needed. Second, I wanted nothing more than for Bogard to become a lycanthrope of some kind.
I'm also drawn to lycanthropy for this character. Here's my dilemma: Bogard probably likes his life as is, right? He's not the kind of blatantly evil guy who would make that kind of power grab intentionally. Bogard has enough common sense to carry around potions of cure disease wherever he goes. So how would he actually get stuck with lycanthropy? Here are options that come to mind: 1. He's not that bright. Maybe he forgets to down a potion after a dungeon that has lycanthropes. I like the idea of using six sided die to add some simulation on this front. 2. Something happens that causes him to seek out lycanthropy. Not sure what that would be, but maybe circumstances drive him to revenge, or he feels so intimidated by a required quest/dungeon that he has to stoop that low. All of that is to say that lycanthropy is not off the table lol. Just waiting for the right way to go about it.
@micah_raygun_ "eh, I'm sure its just a headcold, I'll walk it off" seems like like a very macho man thing for Bogard to do right before turning into a fucking pig and eating a man. You're right though, he's not evil, just a sort of self-interested, anti-hero kind of a guy. I've never actually played daggerfall, though. Is there a quest that leads to you becoming a werewolf and a decent enough role-playing excuse for him to do it if so?
@@toewoe there's not a quest to become a lycanthrope, but there are werewolves and werewolves, and each melee hit you receive from one has a chance to transmit their disease to you. I never really check if I have the disease, I just take a cure disease potion after I leave a dungeon where I got attacked by a werecritter because I have that foresight. The question is whether or not Bogard would have the same insight. There's also a daedric artifact that lets you become a werewolf without any downsides, but it's not my style
I grew up in Alaska lol, part of the appeal of games like Daggerfall is that it reminds me of exploring the woods and abandoned mines, don't live there though.
This was a very fun episode, and I agree that those random encounter on the road really are quite enjoyable. I definitely think it was worth sacrificing the mod that allowed you to travel overland again. Also, that poor prince of Sentinel. What a terrible fate. I was feeling for the royal family of Sentinel given the way the war went, but man. they are just as bad a everyone else. SMT and King's Field are pretty well know these days, and even the more abstruse titles are at least known to exist. I would be interested if you were to do an LP series for either. Devil Summoner is a fun series, and the ones on PS2 were interesting and the Soul Hackers on Saturn/3DS was as well. I played King's Field on the PS1 but while I enjoyed its atmosphere (which seems up your alley), the slowness of character and npc movement and action was a bit of a turnoff for me. Maybe I would think differently nowadays.
Oddly while the name of the First Prince of Sentinel, while randomly generated here, he's later given the name 'Arthago' by Morrowind book 'Night Falls on Sentinel' (which serves as an epilogue to this story). Arthago could not be generated by Daggerfall's Redguard Name generator, as it starts with an 'A' and those names never generate with an 'A', but it does fit with his immediate families preset names of Akorithi and Abuk-i.
Hyped for Wayward realms too! Can't Wait... I might be in my nostalgia phase because I'm looking back at older games and playing them.. Everquest2 has like a blast from the past Origins server that they're trying to release soon and I played the crap out of it's beta... Did you ever play any Mmorpgs or just TES?
I hate to disappoint, but the only multi player game like that I played much of was Diablo 2, and I think that's pretty far removed from an MMO since the game sizes are so small
I feel like reckless ship travel would mean like the captain sails a more dangerous route to get to your destination faster, in which case though I think it should probably be more expensive. Maybe drop a bit of extra gold if you choose that option?
Even if Wayward realms is only considered average by the general gaming community I feel like it will hit a sweet spot for many of us. Currently playing through Arena's main quest with an Altmer Sorceress. Not doing Ironman though. I have an arena retail CD, manual, and the hardware to run it on, maybe. It sort of depends if I can get my 486 up and running. I'm considering finishing the game on real metal. Can't help but feel like I'm missing out on something by playing an emulated version (steam). If anything waiting for my save file to write to floppy disk will prevent me from save scumming - which I am currently addicted to.
48:26 I don’t know if you have a mod to fix it but “The Daedra Seducer's spells are broken in the last official patch. Their respective effects will do the opposite to your character when used, i.e. your health and fatigue will be restored when hit with her spells.” She’s actually the least dangerous spellcasting enemy you could have run into.
15:45 this called to mind the mod for oblivion that PatricianTV made for April fools that makes the dungeon across from the sewers into a random infinite dungeon.
The wierd building names thing is because you installed and removed a city block mod in the same save, they get weird when you do that and those mods should only be used on a new save to reduce the ammount of fighters guilds in random civilian buildings or taverns in stores and stores in guild halls
Oh, so for the pixel vs handpainted debate is more of a sticking to the games style so things dont stand out vs downloading dream which isnt even hand painted its LLM generated with loose touch up by the "team". i have no issue with user preference though mine is to not have high res suddenly to be jump scared by pixel art out of nowhere, so sticking to the established style till an ethical high res mod becomes available and comprehensive is just the safer bet to avoid immersion breaks. And of course its supporting the rights of artists to thier freedom of expression and condeming corporate greed and ignorant pedants only concerned with imagery and not art.
I agree that the pixel art is more congruous with the game's original art style, but I'm biased towards pixel art in general. I get a bit peeved because of how interested people are about debating this topic when there's more meaningful stuff in the game to discuss
@@micah_raygun_ It bothers me we have to have these conversations but their absence is why we have a bunch of armchair virtue signaling pedants who think artists don't deserve their due.
That moment of Hudson calling for you will be a fond memory some day.

I tested it out on a separate save, the Seducer spells works as it should. I'm guessing it's Kab's unleveled spells mod that fixed it for me.
