    When I pierced Kayla (MTM orange top) Asha (MTM yellow top) and Gracie (Barbie Pinktastic/ MTM yellow top custom) that process was way more difficult than this because I had to use one of my real earrings, a thick sewing needle and a toothpick and sturdier doll earring to fit the size of these earrings I ordered on eBay that came from China so far so good but I need to order way more earrings I plan on piercing all my favorites ears but I'm too tired from all this stressful piercing I did last night and this morning.

    I've been using this method for awhile now, and I just pierced another doll's ears today. It's really great! For my dolls it works very easily. All I have to do is push the pin in and out (without leaving it in), and put a human sized earring in. Other dolls might be more difficult, though. Thank you so much for making the video and answering my questions.

    Awesome tip, thank you!! Of course, any needle will work, but these are easy to grip, angle the hole correctly, and safe to use.

  • @maxiesky9594
    @maxiesky9594 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Is it possible to reverse the process? I have a Nikki and Grace dolls who came with those huge posted earrings. I took their earring out, but the holes are so big, they won't let my earrings stay in. Also per another poster, I fear green ears too, so I by Gold Filled posts, wires and jump rings on eBay. This way the earrings do not discolor, and the ear hold stay looking fresh. BTW with my experience with silver, I dislike it, as the silver tarnishes,(turns black). So I just make my own, or by earrings from a specific jewelry maker for dolls, who only used GF findings.

    Late comment is late, but then I just found your channel. Loving the DIYs! In my case, for making piercing holes larger, I just start with the thumbtack and then go in with a bead reamer or small needle file to make it larger right away. Not everyone will have one of those lying around, though, but if you do... =p

    2 questions: 1. Does putting the tack in for this amount of time discolor their ears? 2. Could I use this method if I wanted them to wear human earrings?

    • @BrokenDollyTV

    • @BrokenDollyTV
      @BrokenDollyTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +cakecrumb095 Have you tried the thumb tack method with them yet? I can't imagine a thumb tack can't pierce thru their heads. They are much stronger and sturdier than regular needles. I suggest warming the head first, using a blow dryer or dunking them in hot water for a few minutes. Or even warming the needle itself... over a candle? Gotta experiment to figure out what works best. But definitely try the thumb tack first, it probably will work fine.

    • @cakecrumb095
      @cakecrumb095 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool video Gypsy! I love all of your DIY videos, but i don't think I'll be doing this one, personally as a homosexual male, I'm not much of an earring type of person, when it comes jewelry with my dolls I tend to go for necklaces, statement necklaces, or bracelets, I love hairstyles and I feel like earrings just get in the way of my creativity or just get covered up by hair. Besides, some of my dolls get into too many fistfights at their clubs, so earrings who be a hassle, Lol.

      +Rule 63 Chie Satonaka lol... fistfights at the club! haha. i hear ya. I'm addicted to earrings in real life. i feel like bracelets cut off my circulation, necklaces are choking me... my inner claustrophobic starts having anxiety attacks when i wear certain types of jewelry. but earrings, i'll rock a different pair everyday and be all set. so i tend to project that onto my dolls. almost all of mine have their ears pierced now. haha.

    don't leave metal earrings in your doll's heads for too long, they could get a huge green stain all over their ears from rusting

      +Eddie Sherwood true.I always remove the earrings anyway, cuz i switch them around from doll to doll. and i don't wet any of the dolls heads with earrings on. I try to keep an eye on how the metal is behaving on the vinyl.
