      That's a fair analogy. Considering how many old women I've seen driving Crown Vics or their Mercury counterparts, it's humorous to me to think somewhere in the Star Wars galaxy an elderly woman is driving at half impulse with her left blinker on, for hours, in a Mandalorian made War Machine.

      I believe it's the manufacturer's model name. Like the "Slave 1" was a "Firespray". The Mythrol in Ep.1 knew what it was and called it a classic. The X-Wing pilots chasing Mando also knew it was a Razor Crest, even though he has no transponder. Even the traffic controller on Trask called it by name, when this was Mando's first visit. It's obviously a known ship class.

    If the Razor Crests were part of the Mandalorian military then it could be argued that the Republic gunships were modeled off of them. Since Jango (and Legends Cal Skirata and other mandalorians) were not just involved in the cloning but also the training, the armor, weapons, and equipment may all have been inspired from Mando society.

    The model kind of looks similar to that of the Jaster's Legacy, which is the name of the ship that Jango Fett flew before acquiring the Slave I. That model of ship was actually used by Mandalorians before the Clone Wars, so given that these two similar looking ship models were both used by Mandalorians, I think it's safe to say the Razorcrest might have been manufactured by the same group or company that also manufactured the Jaster's Legacy, these being two varieties of ship models they produced prior to the Clone Wars.

The Germans had already made the He 178, He 280, He 162 and a few others, but the Soviets had actually started making jet aircraft in the early 1930s (BI-1s). The US had the Lockheed P-80 near the end of the war. the Me 262 is the first operational jet fighter and the Meteor was the 2nd so that's probably what you're referencing, but there were a lot more operational jets then...they really took off in 1944 and later.

    If it is true that Razorcrests were pre-empire mandalorian ships, it would actually make sense if the republic gunships were model after them, given that the clone military was in many ways modeled after the mandalorian military, even going so far as to have a mandalorian (Now re-confirmed) as the clone template.

  • @willg8744

    It seems fitting that its referenced as the model of ship without a "ship name", like Mandalorians individually are all just known as "Mandalorian" to people within the universe who arent apart of them. Which if my understanding of the lore is correct was how Mandalorians wanted to be seen as by their enemies. Individually unknown by others except their brothers, and only seen as a unified group under one identity.

  • @kre8or465
    @kre8or465 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Honestly, I assumed it was a surplus vehicle from a planetary militia, some semi- backwater world that had a large enough population to have a military, but not to be super important in galactic politics. That said, it maeks sense that its similar to the slave 1, which was also just one of many of that model of ship, though one of the few used by bounty hunters.
    If the razor crest IS a former Mandalorian vehicle, then it would make sense that the Republic's gunships resemble it, it came FIRST, and the kaminoens got advice from the Mandalorian'd they hired to train the clone troopers when designing it.

    From what was said it's entirely feasible to assume that the Republic Gunship used in the Clone Wars was an iteration of the Razor Crest which looks like it's more or less only capable of acting as a troop transport and light air support while the Republic needed heavy transport ships capable of carrying armored vehicles into the battle. This leads into the idea that they look similar as they were built by the same company and it being an earlier version of said gunships.

    I like many did think it was a retrofitted ship from the clone wars era... But after watching this I am glad to hear that it may be something from the Mandalorian army that dates back before the clone wars era.

    First thing I thought of when I saw it was "Jaster's Legacy", the ship that belonged to Jaster Mareel and later Jango Fett (before he owned Slave I) in Legends, and was featured in the Bounty Hunter game. I had always assumed it was a nod to that.

    Could be that the Razor Crests are actually the precursor to the Republic gunships. The Republic cloned Jango (I know, not a real Mandalorian), and drew heavy inspiration from his armor.

    It's pre GAR, although interesting to note that the LAAT was manufactured by Rothana Heavy Industries, a subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards. Kuat Systems Engineering manufactured the Firespray-31, potentially tying all three ship classes as loosely related, assuming the Razor Crest class was another product of Kuat.
    "Domestic" Mandalorian ships would presumably be made by MandalMotors or Mandal Hypernautics, which have a design ethos distinct from the Kuat designed LAAT and Razor Crest.
    Either way, it's fun seeing something designed/deployed prior to the Clone Wars/GAR, as it does add to the overall scope of the universe.

    I really hope they explore the universe with other shows and movies in the future introducing more things and establishing a wast and stable cannon.

    They need to show more of these ships in a scene somewhere in the new season. Maybe them passing a junkyard with bits of razorcrests. Or a passing mention there are scrapped razorcrests that can be scrapped for parts somewhere. Settle it for good. Though they will likely not say anything explicitly until a new season starts and they need to merch the model.

    One additional reason for the similarity to the Republic gunship is they both performed the same role. Just as the tanks or ships of today share similar design elements with each other.

  • @centaur1a
    @centaur1a 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Razor Crest ship doesn’t look the A-10, but the ship from “Firefly” ship called”Serenity”. The reason is that the engine is not only on the outside, but is right in the middle and the engine could turn, from the facing back to the front. Which turn the ship right away in case of emergency. If you what to go even further back; “Space above and Beyond” is a transport ship. With four engine. Two in the front, and two in the back. The engines could turn only horizontal or vertical.

    In Clone Wars, Sea. 4 Ep. 6, Nomad Droids, I kept pausing the first few minutes, because it certainly looks like several Razor Crest or something similar taking off behind & around the droids before they leave.

    It is also fitting the Din doesn't name the ship at all, because as seen atleast at the beginning he didn't even have a clan and was trying to make himself worthy of just being a mandalorian. He didn't even tell others his real name, just allowed himself to be called Mando' but then he was given a "clan".
