i figured we'd had enough of the Mid-level stuff by now, they did an amazing job with the mid-game stuff the last year and half but i think it's about time that we can step away from it now and start upgrading some more of the later game items like the Cerberus Boots, which are all very underwhelming.
This update provides a cerb boot upgrade mage version of the quiver/infernal cape and still has mid level content as well. I think it’s perfectly fine to add

In my opinion it's obvious that they're making this for the individual style bis boots to move away from the cerb upgrade style boots. This then gives a great tribrid option and then the next bis boots from new content can have something like +8 melee strength for melee, +4 range strength for range boots and +3-4% for magic boots.
@ I agree but I think at some point they’d realise that they NEED to change the shadow. They know how much shadow limits mage, so I expect something like increasing the base power but lowering the multiplier to 2x, or putting caps at various intervals.
I think the boots are the only good reward. Sure they don’t add anything upgrade wise; but they do solve the issue of picking which boots to take to raids. No one takes boot swaps and it’s nice that you don’t have to pick and choose which of the three styles you want. Shadow in toa prettymuch forced eternal boots. Tob forced prims. I like that you get to use all three styles. It seems to be solely focused to raiding QOL

now that I have watched this a bit. I feel like the most you could ever do for the boots is +1 to each of the strength bonuses (6melee str, 2 ranged, 2% mage) and don't touch anything else on them. incase you don't know already in max gear the +1 ranged strength gives and max hit to Blow pipe which is strong as fuck already (each max hit of BP is about 0.3-0.4 dps depending on target). the cape... basically they need to nerf/change shadow and make cape a 4% and keep mage def imo. if you go any stronger then the jump is probably too large. saying that about the boots it is also a combo boot so they could just leave them as is and this means that all tribrid scenarios where you would normally camp one boot has a slight dps increase. maybe still +2 ranged strength to align with things like vambs or uncharged quiver

Im not clueless because I'm proven what you said there to be wrong, 1 str bonus is only increasing your max hit in 20% of pvm setups, and that's so minor that it's not worth 30m for a pair of boots
@jobie7718 I have rebuilt my account several times and I will say prims are the most pointless upgrade, they are always the last item I buy unless I know that only +1 melee strength will make an impact on my current set up. dragon boots are stupid cost effective compared to prims and that is what the king is basically saying which is true.
Couldnt disagree more with the boots take. The reason people don't bring boot switches is not because boots are not good, its because every inventory slot has a lot of value in high lvl pvm and you simply don't have space to bring both range and mage boot switches for 2 invent slot. 1 range str is also a blowpipe max hit, which is actually quite big for DPS .

other thing with the thrall "buff" is that for things like solo olm and p4 wardens, you can't get the thrall to pass through what you are hitting so it's completely useless

sacrificing 2 prayer for 1% magic damage is a direct upgrade in almost every place in the game you're never taking the old cape for prayer unless your a lv 30 ironman with no prayer pots
Weapons with multipliers and the void set are showing to be serious problems for balance. For example the shadow has 3x, scythe has 1.75x, tbow has ~3x, Blowpipe has 2x (2tic attack speed), even bowfa has 1.15x. These multipliers make it impossible to add gear that buffs basic weapons (whip/trident) without breaking max gear setups.
I think what would be better for the avernic catalyst would be adding it to each single pair of boots for boosted stats and also the ability to combine all 3 with no boosted stats for all three combat styles.
How about adding a way for us to get “blank pages” that we can charge with runes/gp/resources to change them into pages for the tome of fire/water/earth so players feel like they can ever use their pages on ironmen and its worth while.
This is very good update.. they are fixing the mistake they made with mage rebalance where you need to now switch boots (which nobody wants to do but feels forced to at times). In addition they also give damage to the range from the boots slot. This is a big deal my friend atm people wear aranea boots oten in raids to not have to switch boots not to mention the defence and non negatives attack stats.
The boots as proposed are fine to bring in the game.. bringing them in and putting them in content associated to the hardest content in game lies the problem. This would be more suited as a mega rare to cerb since all the source boots are there. They are way to lack luster to be associated to inferno difficulty. None of those rewards are even midly inticing enough to learn a new inferno grind. The cape is a straight fail. You can keep the 1%

getting spooned a shadow on the iron was bittersweet. u have a shadow, but it maxes a 40 (no occult or torm). they should just raise base max and have it multiply magic damage normally-however the math works out for max mage remaining the same max hit obv so the hlc doesnt lose their minds. also maybe just change magic damage % into magic str?-would make magic lvl boost spell max hits- i at least never really needed a plugin to know +4 melee str was another max
The boots could be a first few waves drop, in which case the boots don’t need to be that good. It’d be like if hitting wave 40 of the inferno could get you a drop
I’ve no clue rates but I’d guess the boot upgrade is gonna be similar rarity to like the tonalztics of ralos. For grinding endgame content to get legit no upgrade except 1/4 of a max hit for range, it’s not worth it. I agree make it combine them AND upgrade them if anything, just combining or just upgrading isn’t enough, boots aren’t a huge deal. Mage cape upgrade is a joke they need to just change shadow
The hybrid boots will allowe BETTER boots to be added for the game in the future. It's like the Fury, then they'll add a Torture, Occult and Anguish in the boots slot afterwards.

they either need to cap shadows potential max magic dmg bonus, or think of more clever ways to buff other magics harder. 1 thought i had looking at this cape was what if instead it had a passive while equip, it made magic prayers increase magic damage further.(augury is not effected by shadows multiplication effect so if augury was passively buffed to 8% for example while wearing this new cape all magics would get that +4% magic dmg and shadow would not get a +12/16%)
Shadow has a max cap of 100% bonus, which is the multiplied amount i believe... so having 33% magic damage bonus will be the most damage it will ever do.
@wrenandrews3782 POH storage for stuff like clue rewards is fair enough imo, since there's so many things, but tbh yeah death piling and looting bag usage does ease the game mode up. If you're looking for an utter hell challenge though you can make a f2p only uim.
Big agree with the Slayer speech! Slayer is my lowest skill… I just get bored halfway through a lot of the tasks and just want to do something else instead. It sucks…

Tormented demons are weak to crush. This new boss will likely be weak to crush. Im excited for the diabolic Aegis. I don't really understand all the hatred thrown its way. Its an awesome weapon with cool mechanics. Being two handed makes it much easier and quicker as a weapon switch.
It's the same people that are complaining about nerfing Shadow when they are the exact reason we ended up getting the Shadow in its current state. People think they know how to balance the game better than Jagex but also only want items that hit big numbers and give strict DPS increases with very little tradeoff.
I agree, content between fang - scythe, trident - shadow, bandos - torva. There are some gaps in terms of upgrades after mid game but before end game. We need some late game content 👍
King you gotta understand how marginal upgrades work. Both of these will stay very expensive if they are hard to obtain. Look how expensive zaryte vambs are. most people aren't even getting a max hit from it.

Now, these boots save an inventory slot and is a direct upgrade. The mage cape is also a strict DPS upgrade for all mage PVM. If the prayer bonus was a meaningful trade-off, we'd expect to see people taking the Ardy cloak 4 in those situations, as it's a similar comparison. Idk what you mean by "PHYSICALLY" better, but the boots are objectively better, insofar as your objective is higher damage and faster times. For example in my setup, these new items give me an average of 4% extra damage in CoX, and saves an inventory spot. Your logic is basically the same thing as saying the saeldor(c) isn't a direct upgrade to the whip because it's missing a special attack. Not trying to be rude, but you're simply wrong on this one.

Boots will always seem dead thanks to the (second) best boots in the game costing only 100k. And the best boots are Mole Slippers, so what does that say about the state of boots?
Magic in osrs has fallen completely off, since the shadow. magic gear is overpriced and under performing for average players like me. there’s no reason to use it for almost any content In the game unless you’re forced to use magic, and if you don’t have a shadow you just don’t do that content. PvP magic is still important but since occult nerf it’s just been an absolute joke. Especially with voidwaker in the game at 50% spec.
The boots are such a dumb gimmick to come from content that's supposed to be close to inferno level. They should have either made them much better or better yet, make the magic cape come from there (for consistency's sake with capes and end game content) and also make it actually good lol.

I just got my primordial boots on my iron, and was very surprised but the +1 melee str lol I'm glad someone else was like this is crap, why are these to expensive? lol The fact that the imbued god capes don't give a positive prayer though, if the demonic one needs a negative bonus...
People are focusing too much on the rewards and their stats. I believe jagex purposefully throws a lower number at us so that they can come back and increase later. Im excited for the new content!
They just need to make it so Shadow cant benefit from more damage then it has now, then when theyre ready they can remove that restriction. The same thing happened to magic in rs3 with Fractured staff of armadyl, they got to afraid to add more crit because fsoa spec was another auto attack everytime it crit so you could do recursive hits from crits that compounded on each other, while also benefiting from spell effects (blood barrages) so they just gutted its spec.
The boots are not insanely good, they change literally nothing for MDPS in ToB, they don't change anything if not tribriding, and then tribriding, the difference will never be seen, people don't bri g boot switches because they're not worth it, that's why I think they should be an upgrade

While bringing dedicated boot switches isn't often done, the fact that these give the full bonuses from the other boots in one item makes it a no-brainer strict BIS for literally every piece of PvM outside of the wilderness. The reason you cite MDPS ToB is just cherry-picking one role to which they add minimally. In fact, it is such an upgrade precisely because boot switches aren't typically brought.
I can understand the ideas here, but I'd rather they present things underwhelming like this rather than waaaaay over the top honestly. Boots are going to an argument across the board whether they buff or leave as is, but the Eldritch Veil is top tier whack. Being able to buy a final tier style upgrade is completely out of touch for the game, they may as well give 1-time GP purchase of Quiver and Inferno at that point smh. Slayer Parch upgrade is actually a fire idea, stacking notion would be a really smart implement as well. Slayer needs more incentive items for the the end game portion honestly
If they're strapped for unique weapon slots to fill that match the difficult of the content, add the Heka, the original TOA mega rare that Jagex said they'd keep in their back pocket for a later time, to this boss. It passed a poll before they swapped it for Shadow and fills a niche between sang and shadow along with some raid utility. It seems suitably powerful for a boss that's inferno level.
The more I look at all of the equipment in this proposal, the worse it seems. Given the difficulty they claim this new boss will be, none of this stuff is much of an improvement. Disappointing for sure.
Here we are, can't give mage meaningful upgrades because of Shadow. I never got to use one yet but on Leagues even with just T1 it was slapping with BIS Mage. The difference in Trident and Shadow is beyond a joke. And no limits on where it's used, both Scythe and Tbow have mechanics making them not BIS absolutely everywhere that combat style is used.
A mid way progression between trident and shadow feels needed. There is the nightmare staffs and the sang but neither quite fit into a smooth progression path.
@@zero1343 Yes I would agree. The nightmare staff I don't want to even consider because I've seen some brutal luck there. I do plan to hit up ToB/TOA and CM's but other grinds just been taking time. I got to under 23 min CM's on League so after Levi I plan to try that and ToA for Shadow. Don't get me wrong I want to do raids but they are draining and take a long commitment unless you are lucky. A more grindable step up from Trident would be ideal, It splashes so much. Mage gear barely gives more accuracy. My Mage set up to clear things up is Virtus Helm/Bottoms/Ahrims Robetop/Trident/Elidinis' ward (f)/Eternals/Occult/Mage cape/Augury. When I was upgrading my Ahrims through Whisperer it barely felt like it helped if at all. I did it off task as well, about 3 min kills.

It's literally only adding 1 ranged strength. lol. There is a cap on the shadow. It stops being x3 magic strength when we hit 34% magic strength. We're currently at like 25 or something. We just need to hit the cap and forget about it. Or lower the cap. I think they want to drip-feed us the shadow's last 9% so that's why the numbers are low.

There is finally a mage equivalent to complete for bis mage, which I feel is a fantastic addition. Something I had been thinking for a long time. Also the boots seem so amazing! All 3 boots combined so you get every bonus is insane. I hope to god it passes.

Also, that reward isn't the ultimate reward for completing the content. It's like sunfire armor in colo. Just an additional item. I just don't understand why complain about an item that is nothing but a net benefit for the boot slot?

Any competent raider is taking boot switches if you have shadow, unless you are doing 540s but anything in the 400s you are taking boot swaps

I must say though… they do not base the entirety of magic on that one item. There is stupid strong magic setups that do not require a fkn shadow mate. All content can be done with or without a shadow. Some people blame the items. Others understand its just how much time n effort you are willing to put in to learn.

Weapons with multipliers and the void set are showing to be serious problems for balance. For example the shadow has 3x, scythe has 1.75x, tbow has ~3x, Blowpipe has 2x (2tic attack speed), even bowfa has 1.15x. These multipliers make it impossible to add gear that buffs basic weapons (whip/trident) without breaking max gear setups.
I think what would be better for the avernic catalyst would be adding it to each single pair of boots for boosted stats and also the ability to combine all 3 with no boosted stats for all three combat styles.
How about adding a way for us to get “blank pages” that we can charge with runes/gp/resources to change them into pages for the tome of fire/water/earth so players feel like they can ever use their pages on ironmen and its worth while.

This is very good update.. they are fixing the mistake they made with mage rebalance where you need to now switch boots (which nobody wants to do but feels forced to at times). In addition they also give damage to the range from the boots slot. This is a big deal my friend atm people wear aranea boots oten in raids to not have to switch boots not to mention the defence and non negatives attack stats.

The boots as proposed are fine to bring in the game.. bringing them in and putting them in content associated to the hardest content in game lies the problem. This would be more suited as a mega rare to cerb since all the source boots are there. They are way to lack luster to be associated to inferno difficulty. None of those rewards are even midly inticing enough to learn a new inferno grind. The cape is a straight fail. You can keep the 1%

getting spooned a shadow on the iron was bittersweet. u have a shadow, but it maxes a 40 (no occult or torm). they should just raise base max and have it multiply magic damage normally-however the math works out for max mage remaining the same max hit obv so the hlc doesnt lose their minds. also maybe just change magic damage % into magic str?-would make magic lvl boost spell max hits- i at least never really needed a plugin to know +4 melee str was another max

I’ve no clue rates but I’d guess the boot upgrade is gonna be similar rarity to like the tonalztics of ralos. For grinding endgame content to get legit no upgrade except 1/4 of a max hit for range, it’s not worth it. I agree make it combine them AND upgrade them if anything, just combining or just upgrading isn’t enough, boots aren’t a huge deal. Mage cape upgrade is a joke they need to just change shadow

Jagex was already extremely hesitant to add the +1 range str. We’re not getting more for awhile if ever
they either need to cap shadows potential max magic dmg bonus, or think of more clever ways to buff other magics harder. 1 thought i had looking at this cape was what if instead it had a passive while equip, it made magic prayers increase magic damage further.(augury is not effected by shadows multiplication effect so if augury was passively buffed to 8% for example while wearing this new cape all magics would get that +4% magic dmg and shadow would not get a +12/16%)
Shadow has a max cap of 100% bonus, which is the multiplied amount i believe... so having 33% magic damage bonus will be the most damage it will ever do.

King you gotta understand how marginal upgrades work. Both of these will stay very expensive if they are hard to obtain. Look how expensive zaryte vambs are. most people aren't even getting a max hit from it.
Zaeyte vambs are physically better upgrades, the mage cape here is inconsistent and the boots are straight up not an upgrade

They will simply be the best boots in the game, and people will pay tons for them. Maybe that will only be 2% extra DPS overall, but people will be willing to pay for it. My inventory space is precious, and just because I don't sacrifice an entire space to bring pegs for a +12 range accuracy boost, I absolutely bring in eternals and aranea boots into 3+4 CoX. Now, these boots save an inventory slot and is a direct upgrade. The mage cape is also a strict DPS upgrade for all mage PVM. If the prayer bonus was a meaningful trade-off, we'd expect to see people taking the Ardy cloak 4 in those situations, as it's a similar comparison. Idk what you mean by "PHYSICALLY" better, but the boots are objectively better, insofar as your objective is higher damage and faster times. For example in my setup, these new items give me an average of 4% extra damage in CoX, and saves an inventory spot.
Your logic is basically the same thing as saying the saeldor(c) isn't a direct upgrade to the whip because it's missing a special attack. Not trying to be rude, but you're simply wrong on this one.

Magic in osrs has fallen completely off, since the shadow. magic gear is overpriced and under performing for average players like me. there’s no reason to use it for almost any content In the game unless you’re forced to use magic, and if you don’t have a shadow you just don’t do that content. PvP magic is still important but since occult nerf it’s just been an absolute joke. Especially with voidwaker in the game at 50% spec.
The boots are such a dumb gimmick to come from content that's supposed to be close to inferno level. They should have either made them much better or better yet, make the magic cape come from there (for consistency's sake with capes and end game content) and also make it actually good lol.

Also gets us to 83 max hit of task with ring from 81. also gives 3 max hits in cms on mutta/olm/vasa, 2 on mystics/shamans. the plus one looks shit but its huge to hit current breakpoints on max hits in max

The whole point of the reward is the stats. If the stats are shit why would you want them. Raising complaints is how an item gets changed in any case.

The same thing happened to magic in rs3 with Fractured staff of armadyl, they got to afraid to add more crit because fsoa spec was another auto attack everytime it crit so you could do recursive hits from crits that compounded on each other, while also benefiting from spell effects (blood barrages) so they just gutted its spec.

The boots are not insanely good, they change literally nothing for MDPS in ToB, they don't change anything if not tribriding, and then tribriding, the difference will never be seen, people don't bri g boot switches because they're not worth it, that's why I think they should be an upgrade

While bringing dedicated boot switches isn't often done, the fact that these give the full bonuses from the other boots in one item makes it a no-brainer strict BIS for literally every piece of PvM outside of the wilderness.
The reason you cite MDPS ToB is just cherry-picking one role to which they add minimally. In fact, it is such an upgrade precisely because boot switches aren't typically brought.
I can understand the ideas here, but I'd rather they present things underwhelming like this rather than waaaaay over the top honestly. Boots are going to an argument across the board whether they buff or leave as is, but the Eldritch Veil is top tier whack. Being able to buy a final tier style upgrade is completely out of touch for the game, they may as well give 1-time GP purchase of Quiver and Inferno at that point smh.

Slayer Parch upgrade is actually a fire idea, stacking notion would be a really smart implement as well. Slayer needs more incentive items for the the end game portion honestly

If they're strapped for unique weapon slots to fill that match the difficult of the content, add the Heka, the original TOA mega rare that Jagex said they'd keep in their back pocket for a later time, to this boss. It passed a poll before they swapped it for Shadow and fills a niche between sang and shadow along with some raid utility. It seems suitably powerful for a boss that's inferno level.

I never got to use one yet but on Leagues even with just T1 it was slapping with BIS Mage. The difference in Trident and Shadow is beyond a joke.
And no limits on where it's used, both Scythe and Tbow have mechanics making them not BIS absolutely everywhere that combat style is used.
Also boots are terrible too IMO, your stat suggestion was a lot better. Idk about the slayer damage buff though, bit much.
A mid way progression between trident and shadow feels needed. There is the nightmare staffs and the sang but neither quite fit into a smooth progression path.
@@zero1343 Yes I would agree. The nightmare staff I don't want to even consider because I've seen some brutal luck there. I do plan to hit up ToB/TOA and CM's but other grinds just been taking time. I got to under 23 min CM's on League so after Levi I plan to try that and ToA for Shadow.
Don't get me wrong I want to do raids but they are draining and take a long commitment unless you are lucky. A more grindable step up from Trident would be ideal, It splashes so much. Mage gear barely gives more accuracy.
My Mage set up to clear things up is Virtus Helm/Bottoms/Ahrims Robetop/Trident/Elidinis' ward (f)/Eternals/Occult/Mage cape/Augury. When I was upgrading my Ahrims through Whisperer it barely felt like it helped if at all. I did it off task as well, about 3 min kills.

There is a cap on the shadow. It stops being x3 magic strength when we hit 34% magic strength. We're currently at like 25 or something. We just need to hit the cap and forget about it. Or lower the cap. I think they want to drip-feed us the shadow's last 9% so that's why the numbers are low.
