I believe that the US student protests are working. I believe that many people in the US are questioning their democracy and I agree that the fact that governments can so blatantly ignore the majority of their electors is a problem that needs serious addressing. (Just yesterday, I had the idea of the US becoming more like the EU - with States becoming more self governing. Texas, alone, has a population of 25 million people, which is about the same size as where i live (Australia). Democracy requires education and people who aren't strangers to each other and I think that decisions that apply to such a large population can be much harder to prevent from being controlled by a corrupt elite, if that elite is a small and unapproachable number of people, in a very large population. Anyway, I'm "writing as I'm thinking of the idea" and I'll have to think of where/to whom I can suggest it.
