You got that right, friend! Guitars, media, public relations, and all between. Gibson, my favirite brand, are hitting homeruns in every aspect these days.👍
I just received my Gibson Les Paul custom ebony last week it’s an awesome guitar perfect finish no blemishes and plays perfectly my bucket list guitar I’m 62 and finally got it😜
These videos are great to let the public or potential customers as well as current customers like myself the goings on at Gibson. These are great. Keep making these informative videos Gibson. Make Gibson great again like in its heyday 👍👍👍
I'm here after getting a G-45. I was so blown away by the precision workmanship I needed more info. This series was exactly what I needed. Now, back to playing!
For years I bounced between the Burstbucker pros and 57 classics. Both sets are amazing imo. However lately for what I’ve been playing I’ve suddenly found myself a fan of the 490/498 set.
In the last year I have purchased three new Gibson guitars - a 339, a Flying V and an SG 61. All excellent and I love them. Gibson is back. Thank you to the fine people at Gibson for making great guitars once again.
I’m new to Gibson after many years of being strictly a Fender player. I love my 2020 SG Standard ‘61 and 2019 Les Paul Standard 60’s. Both guitars have awesome build quality and sound awesome. Thanks Gibson!
I need to start creating a playlist for this series....one day i'll watch it from episode 1 to 14 in one sitting....can't believe there's only 1 more episode to go....maybe go into the differences in the process between custom shop and usa, and the acoustic process and the ES....there's so much more we'd all like to see that goes on in the dream factory
Really appreciated getting to see this! Just for the record, my personal favorite Gibson pickups are those low impedance pickups that were used in the Les Paul Recording Model...and also the Mini Humbuckers and the P-90s. On my old 1967 ES-335, I have a pair of the Series VII humbucking pickups--I love the versatility of these, plus the single coil switching option. Well done, Gibson! Respectfully, Bill Turner
Thank you Gibson I’ve always wondered about this process. These videos are an amazing look into how guitars are made. Can’t wait until I can afford a les Paul
I had 3 Gibson guitars in the late 70’s thru the 80’s. They all had great tone, but lacked the punch I was looking for. I recently picked up a couple new Gibson’s and couldn’t be happier with the pick ups. Definitely on the hunt for some 57 classics now 🎸
I can sell you mine:) they have served me well for years, but just got hold of a set of Custombuckers from an R8. Who knows if they are better, but if you’d like my 57s I can just get new ones should I not be happy with the swap. The 57s brought my guitar to life when I got them
I love this series! And while sometimes Gibson takes a beating online for their pickups (various forums) I couldn't be happier with what has come in some of my recent ones, including a 2019 SG and a 2017 Firebird. The 57 Classic is still a killer!
I recently boght a 2018 new LP tribute Goldtop. I am from Argentina. I could not be happier. I love my Gibson. The sound, the look, the sustain. I hope some day I could visit the factory. 😁
I have REALLY enjoyed this series on The Process. I own several Gibsons, and every single one of them is an absolute work of art. I just loved seeing and hearing the people, and they are all so proud of what they do. Thank you Gibson for all the great guitars you make!!
Hope sometime in the next year or so we can get a run of 1970s SGs and Pauls maybe? The SGs of that era were so unique, the Super Humbuckers are all their own sound man! But maybe not tarring them up for the reissues if possible? Glad to see these videos getting put up!
In 2006 I was introduced to the 496R/500T pups(Came stock in my Explorer) and since then, all my fancy aftermarket humbuckers went on Ebay. 14 years later and I still load all my guitars with this pair. Just picked up a 2020 LP Standard 60's and yes, I loaded that one to with the pair. The BB61's sound great for alnico but the ceramics to me are unbeatable.
He may not be against Gibson, just maybe he knows the og Les Paul had P90's !? Btw, what's up with people getting the idea one is against something or some one simply for stating their opinion !?
I wasn't really a Gibson fan until I bought an SG. Now I understand why musicians love Gibson guitars. I've heard good things about the newer guitars so hopefully the quality is now back up to a high standard that Gibson was known for previously. I LOVE the tone of my SG. I had made plans to change out the pickups before I bought it, but they sound awesome so I think i'll leave them be :)
julosx I own Gibsons too man. I do not like Epiphones. Go to a guitar store, I’d only be playing The Gibson not the Epiphones. Epiphones are kinda like a joke lol.
So if they're 100% automated, why do they cost as much as hand-wound boutuque pickups? I mean, gibson pickups are great, bul looks like they are way cheaper to produce. Good for Gibson anyway.
Seth Lover and Ray Butts were both independently working on a design for a humbucking pickup and Ray Butts got the patent first. Not Seth Lover. Seth Lover is credited as the inventor of the humbucker due to the exposure he got with the Les Paul but Ray Butts got the patent for the humbucking pickup first with his Filtertron pickup before Seth Lover did. If Filtertrons were put in Gibson guitars instead of Gretsch guitars everyone would rightfully credit Ray Butts as the inventor of the humbucker.
If any of you have tried the Tim Shaw PAF's from the 1980's you'll know they're absolutely amazing. I wish Gibson would reissue them because they are really expensive nowadays. But they do sound amazing in my 1981 heritage series standard Les Paul.
I like the attention to detail, but the roughness of a burstbucker style pickup sounds great. I see people on TH-cam that pay attention to whether or not there’s “era correct knobs” on their guitar. In the end, all of that doesn’t matter unless you can play it. Just play the guitar.
You can own anything you want in a capitalist country, so long as you have the money (seriously check out a payment plan some of these plans are zero interest for like 24 months n shit) and the space.
@@DatBoi-mo9vc I have the guitars I need. No need for more. Went for the Gibson a few times and never found the one for me at the right price. Gibson guitars are tricky to buy when you know other brands that do a better job at a better price point.
Might possibly irritate some people: I own a Gibson Les Paul Custom Vivan Campbell Signature Guitar, #26 out of 50. This guitar is equipped originately with DiMarzio Pckups, a Super 3 at Neck Position, and a Super Distortion at Bridge Position. I replaced both DiMarzio Pickups with Burstbucker Pros, because I like them much more. Lower Output with the Burstbuckers, yes, but much more controllable. Love them Burstbucker Pros, in three of my four Les Paul Guitars (Vivian Campbell Signature, 2014 Les Paul Standard Plus, 2018 Les Paul Standard). The fourth one has a 490r/490t combination in it (2005 Les Paul Studio Platinum Edition).
Sitting here playing my Les Paul standard in deep blood red and wishing Gibson didn't wax pot these pickups, don't get me wrong they sound good and really sound better loud and don't give feed back squeaks but I feel without the wax the would really project the resonant sounds of the wood body ! I want to take the covers off and dig out the wax but it's a lot of work getting the solder got to take the covers off so maybe I'll just find some used BB 2-3 and put them in !?
You don't necessarily need to take the covers off. You could heat the pickup to the wax melting temperature in an oven or with a hairdryer. However, some residue will stay in. The covers are soldered with 1 or 2 spots, easily removable. Good luck!
I doubt this will get a response as this is not really the forum for this question, but here goes anyways... Why can’t I get open-faced (uncovered) humbuckers with the gold screws and poles?
