I subscribe to MY OWN KIT, LOL! I have subscribed to kits for many years, and what I have learned is that I need to just shop for myself and what I want, need, and find great bargains on. The shopping adds to my joy, and subscriptions inject chaos into my inventory since other people pick for me. When I look back to purge items I am not using, nearly all of the things I purge were in a kit
Understandable, Linda! That's why I do my own kit each month too, guaranteed to be chock full of things I love! I find that I tend to get excited about new collections and want to buy all of the new things, getting a kit that has a bit of these keeps me from buying full collections. It definitely depends on how you scrap and what your buying preferences are!
My approach as well ... I prefer to curate my own kits. Then it's all my style and much less waste. When I see new collections I like, I'll pick up 3 or 4 of my favorite papers, and a couple of the embellishment packs.
Agreed. I enjoy peachy cheap and waiting for my fave collections to pop up :) also Rosie’s studio has my heart aswell and I wanna buy everything there lol

I have been a long-term subscriber to all of these at one time or another. I did ScrapRoom for a few years and I always had to add on the extra patterned paper and the extra embellishments. Once I did that, you got a nice selection of 4 different collections every month- BUT the price of course went up. I started NJFB about 5 months ago and I love the paper choices- often some non-American Crafts paper that add something different and I like the variety of their less traditional embellishments. They also have an a la carte section that is quite affordable. This month, I agree, they definitely needed an ephemera pack. Hip Kit's exclusive products often are a great value- either in quantity or originality. However, HKC can get pricey if you are like me and want to add on all the add ons !! July kit was all exclusive and had some really great embellishments like the huge conjoined circle and hexagon chipboard! Felicity Jane is gorgeous- but it is the SAME gorgeous every single month- not enough variety. Buy one every 6-12 months and you are good. Citrus Twist I did years ago, and am now starting to look at again. I feel like the kits I have looked at recently from them are pretty decent and I wouldn't need to add on much. Just another opinion for anyone trying to decide which kit fits them.
Absolutely, depending on your scrapbooking style, which kit works for you is going to be subjective. 100%! I agree that Felicity Jane can feel a bit like repeats over time, another reason I don't subscribe to them, but do hit up their sales. Love her stuff, but for me it's a bit pricey as a kit. NJFB is a great concept, I think it needs some refining, but they are on the right track. HKC is making great progress too and I LOVE their exclusives, but I thought it was important to point out that no kit club is perfect. Citrus Twist has come a long way. I wish they still did kit subscriptions, but I completely understand the owner's current situation doesn't allow for it. ScrapRoom's concept is awesome, love that, it's just not for me.
@@lauraalbertscrafts Yes, we are in complete agreement. I was just adding on to your commentary. You did a great job comparing the 5 kits. I was just adding on to the discussion with additional thoughts. I also love FJ products-but I wanted to point out for better or for worse... they are very similar every month. If you love, love, love the one that you showed- you will love all of them. They are in my opinion, the most consistent in product, color, and style. For some that may be 5 stars and for some that may be 2 stars. For me that meant 6 months and move on. HKC can be too good, lol. Because you end up liking all the add ons and then temptation sets in =$$$. As a person who always feels like they must have it all, I have to consider the add on potential into the price, haha. Same with ScrapRoom, I had to have the embellishment add on and patterned paper addon. I like NJFB add on potentials because they are a la carte (like $3 each) instead of a full add on like HKC which is $25ish. I am currently subscribed to NJFB and recently joined HKC again but am trying to have more discipline than before when I was spending over $100/month on just HKC.
I subscribed to scraptastic back in the day and Hip Kit club too for some time, With Hip Kit I was not able to use most of the kits because it was too many colors for me and the exclusives weren't my style. For the past few years, I have been doing the Felicity Jane club. Even though I have 2 boys and no girls ad the colors are more girly, I find that it makes me want to pull out and scrap and I just love their colors and the florals. I don't really do much scrapbooking for my family. Most albums are gifts for friends, family, neighn]bors, teachers so I get to play with the girly stuff. Love FJ, This is the only thing I splurge on and I get extra papers and embellishments each month. You can buy the pieces separately;y too if you don't subscribe. I don't ever use stamps but still love this kit.
I missed the Scraptastic era, wasn't even aware of kit clubs back then, it looked like a fun one. I get it completely. I adore FJ's products and I stock up whenever they have a sale, Jeanna's a fab designer! If I could limit myself to just her kit and not want to buy all the other things, I definitely would.
Great video! Yes I use to get scrap room years ago, half no value to me as just some embellishments and never the best page…. In my opinion- of the collection. I did echo park collection club ….but everything started to look the same ☹️…done. I just subscribe to my cherry box…. That I always love🥰 love to mix of crafty fun in general and they just upgraded to bigger box to fit paper😮👍🏻👍🏻 I now just get what I want….if I love an entire collection I get it. If I love the embellishments , I’ll get them with some papers I’ll use ! I loved this, think I like the hip kit best.

I think at this point I've watched at least a dozen videos on different scrapbook and card making kits. I just wanted to say this was the best one I saw. I really appreciated your opinions rather than a simple "all these kits are great" sort of review. I would love to see something like this for travelers notebook kits, because that's the size I tend to work in.

I would love to see a bit more of a gender neutral feel to Hip Kit (which I do think they are trying to do more of, but haven't quite hit yet). NJFB is a fun kit club and though the embellishments are quite often not my style, they may work great for you!
Thank you for all your information regarding Kit Clubs. I have never purchased such items and perhaps in retrospect that is a big downfall for new scrappers. I buy what I like and now I could open my own shop!! Nothing matches.....

Having different levels as lots of clubs have would benefit felicity jane. For example nixing stamps for one of the levels. I am alway tempted by a nice stamp .. but I don’t use them and have way too many. Ditto stencils. I think I’d like to have a smaller option that maybe sticks to paper ephemera and stickers only and maybe come journaling cards . Like how freckled fawn has different options.
I agree, it would be nice. I think though that the stamp is a big draw of her kits and probably what she makes the biggest profit from, I always try to remember these kit clubs are run by small companies, often with just a handful of employees.
Out of all of the kits that are presented in this video, Not Just for boys ranks highest ONLY becuase of the paper selection and ONLY for the particular month that is shown. For me, this is my first time hearing about these kits/clubs, so I don't have an overall opinion, but thanks for sharing and going through all of the kits.
I was very intentional in choosing the kit from either August or September that I liked the most from each club to give it the best shot. I think they all are awesome and will appeal to different scrappers differently! Love that!

Definitely worth examining prices and value when considering kit clubs. I don't subscribe to any right now, just buy one here and there if I need a little something new.

That’s funny. What I like most about the scrap room kits are the things you don’t. I like the card stock since I almost always use a card stock base and I like that I don’t get full packs of embellishments because I rarely use them all. I like that I have to bring things in from my stash many times to complement the kit because it allows me to use those things.
Understandable! I think all of these kits are fantastic, they have a wide appeal and comparing them definitely will depend on your personal scrappy style.

All of the kit clubs have design teams that use the kits every month in a variety of ways. I believe the Scrap Room kit has recipe cards you can download from their site as well as ideas. For the Hip Kit Club and Citrus Twist, I follow their Facebook groups where you can see tons of people posting pictures of how they've used the kits and there's usually challenges/sketches in there too.

Thank you! This was so awesome. I was subscribed to the scraproom one....must have just been a bad time because out of the 6 months, i only found 1 month's likeable. I had the extra add on pieces n most of the time the add ons were not worth the cost. I often got these embellishments that were like in Joann Fabrics dollar bins....years ago! I'm not intentionally dogging them but like i said i must have just hit it at a bad time. 😒 i have thought about trying it again. The not just for boys had a pirate themed one months ago and i wish i had purchased it. I like the felicity jane kit you showed. Love the heart ❤ 💙 💜 gems, the stars, and thst black paper with the white floral. The dark blue n deep red cardstock....yum! 😍 I'm working on getting that vicki boutin collection. 👍 the citrus twist kit i really liked but ive got the pink fresh set....except those alphas....gotta get those. Thanks Laura. I currently subscribe to Hip Kit Club and enjoy it. I like that I could skip a month as well if it is just not my style or if I need to work on another months kit a bit more. I have in the past subscribed to NJFBKC and enjoyed the cut files since I don’t have a machine either but was not using up enough of the kit and also have been subscribed to Scraproom and enjoyed that one but some months I just found some of them hard to use up and always had a lot of the card stock left so I ended that one. This was a great review based on my experiences of those 3.
Thank you, Laura! I subscribed to Hip Kit a few years back and I subscribed for 2 years, it was expensive since I live in Europe. I loved that I got most of the big designers. But the color scheme at that time was just pink and aqua every month, I still have a hard time using those colors together. I thought it was sad that 2 of the months per year it was only Hip Kit exclusives no brand names in those months and mostly AC and Pinkfresh. I’m sad to say that I love both Maggie Holmes and Pinkfresh to look at, but I have such a hard time working with their collections. I did feel I had to buy the embellishments kit as well, since I wanted more embellishments to play with. Sounds great that they have made some changes even though they have the same concept.
True! No kit club is perfect! I do know that one of the reasons for the exclusive only kits is because of massive shipping delays that happen every year around the holidays and getting product in from American Crafts is still a huge nightmare. I love the mix of exclusive and other brands too. I would love for them to drop the alpha, keep the titles, and add a pack of stickers maybe instead.

So true, Karren! International shipping is insane, I know there are a few kit clubs in Australia too, but I haven't tried them. One is Kitaholic Kits, which often carries Cocoa Vanilla and American Crafts lines.
Yes! It's a sure-fire way to make sure your kit is 100% your style and includes your favorite things! I do like Hip Kit overall, but I generally mix it in with my stash because I like the individual products more than using them together, if that makes sense. I did try Clique Kit for a while, was sad to see them stop doing subscription kits.
I loved this video talking about kit clubs. You and I have totally different styles but I really love watching all your videos.I have been scrapping for over 20 years and have never subscribed to a kit club. If I was starting out now,I know I would personally get The Scraproom Kits. That way I could learn about a variety of companies and their styles. I enjoy looking at Felicity Jane . I'm not quite in to the paper but I love all the other neat little things she puts into the kit each month. Some of them in the past have been so unique. My third opinion is about the NJFB. I love the fact that it is geared towards boys/ men. And I loved the cut files. Like I said earlier,I have never purchased a kit and probably never will. I am downsizing to move to a much smaller place and my stash is HUGE. I really never need to buy another thing except adhesive. I have given so much away and it's hard but I am thankful that I can keep most of my most loved things. Thanks again for doing this review. I really enjoyed it!!!

Great video, the only kit club I have done is hip kit and I have been very happy with it overall. I go back and forth with ordering the extra embellishment kits. I agree the August kit can use a bit more but i have leftovers from July that coordinate nicely. I do see lots of people using NJFB kits and while some look usable some look very specific and themed. I do like the NJFB acrylic pieces and other very unique embellishments. Thanks!!
Agreed 100% with your assessment. I enjoy Hip Kit for the most part, for sure, but I was actually glad to have an example of a kit that just didn't work for me. No kit club will nail it every single month without fail.
Love this breakdown and your honest opinion!!! I just would rather spend that money and support my local scrapbook store and get exactly what I want each month! I’m lucky there is still a scrapbook store where I live. I think if you have been scraping a long time like me your best bet is to get grab bags or boxes that HIp Kit, Felicity Jane, Pink Fresh just to name a few offer a couple times a year. Great bang for your buck and you will get those exclusives without that high price!!
Agree with you 100%, Christie! I get the majority of my stash from those sales personally. I don't have a local scrapbook store, so I choose to support these small businesses instead, but definitely the sales and warehouse boxes are the way to go!

Same here! I get the Hip Kit and usually disperse it into my stash to refresh things a bit, then pull them in for my stash kits. If I try to just "buy only what I want," I end up spending so much more money!
I agree with most of your comments about these five kit clubs. I have bought the occasional kit from all of them but have never subscribed to any of them. At the moment I am enjoying Shimelle's Best of Both World kits because I can choose to purchase her suggestions or shop from my stash.
This is such an interesting and helpful video! Being in the UK, shipping tends to be an issue but I did purchase once from Hip Kit last year and was really happy and I can see a one-off purchase from them now and again happening in the future as I was impressed with the mix of exclusives and 'brand name' (I got the June 2020 kit which included Hip Kit exclusives, Pinkfresh and Stamp Market), and for the price combined with postage it didn't seem too bad. The scraproom kit doesn't seem like it would work for me, for the same reasons you stated - no alphas, not enough stickers/ephemera so I think I would feel like I needed to buy more from the collections just to use all of the papers if I was sticking to 'by collection'. The other kits were interesting concepts but I'm not sure I would order them - Felicity Jane hasn't been one I've ever felt drawn to, just not my thing I don't think and Not Just For Boys seemed a little much when I would have to take into account shipping, also I don't really use stamps so they would just gather dust. The only other one I might consider would be Citrus Twist but I wouldn't subscribe and would just order if the monthly kit appealed to me. Thank you for such an in-depth look at the different kit options and definitely answered some questions I've previously had about selection vs price :)

I don't kit. I certainly understand the appeal of them, but I personally prefer to pick out my own goodies. I still like looking at them though & seeing how people use them.

I have subscribed to Scraproom for about a year. I love that I get a taste of 4 lines and the embellishments are plenty for one page or a double spread. It makes me use alphas from stash. I miss subscribing to the Hip Kit I may change.
ScrapRoom has a great concept! If it always focused on companies I love and skipped the card stock, I'd consider it. Love the sampler idea though. Hip Kit has been knocking out of the park a lot this year, I really enjoy it.

I have way too much paper from being in several kit clubs years ago but I really like the fun colors and new papers from these kits. Almost makes me want to get a few kits for the paper. LOL! I have actually bought a few card making kits because of the great ephemera they provide.
Welcome! I enjoy having one kit subscription to bring in new product, so I'm not as tempted to buy all the new collections. I get to play with new things without overbuying. Mostly though, I scrap from the stash kits I make on a monthly basis, mixing in old and new to keep it interesting and still make a dent in my stash.

It is a bit more expensive but I like the variety you get in each kit. I'm still working on expanding my supplies and building my stamps more so this kit is perfect for me. I am seriously thinking about adding the Scraproom, though.
I love the concept of the ScrapRoom, if it was more my style, I'd sign up in a heartbeat. If you're building up a stamp stash, it makes perfect sense to stick with FJ, their stamps are fantastic!!

I use FJ as my Project Life kit. I love the cohesiveness the overall album has while each month is still different enough to tell them apart. But if I was just a "traditional" scrapbooker I would probably not even go with a kit! I'm very much a collection based scrapbooker so kits that mix and match collections or don't give the full collection are just not my jam. I love that all of the kits you showed are so different, more opportunity to find the perfect kit for your style.
That's a great point, Morgan. Felicity Jane was brilliant for my Project Life a few years back, I really enjoyed using it then. I do enjoy collections as well, I keep my favorite companies' collections together for that reason. I definitely wanted to give a lot of examples that could reach a variety of scrappy styles. I get that. I don't really need an alpha every month either, but as someone who puts together my own kits every month, custom kits are a pain in the butt! They are really hard to pull together on a monthly basis for the sheer number of customers that these kit clubs serve. Most of these are small companies run by just a handful of people and trying to offer customization is ridiculously hard for them. So, I agree with you, but I absolutely understand why they don't.
Great video Laura! I love my Club Scrap subscription. Not every month is my style and I alter the pre-designed layouts. The papers and embellishments are always gorgeous. They aren't for everyday scrapbooking though.

Thank you for the comparison video! So much good information. I get the Cocoa Daisy kit, and while it is more expensive and all Cocoa Daisy product, I find I get SO much product and usually love the themes. It’s just another option for people who might be interested.
Cocoa Daisy has fantastic kits, I've picked up a few bits and pieces from them. To my knowledge, they don't have a 12x12 kit though, which is why I didn't include them.

I actually was on My Creative Scrapbook's Design Team at one point. The reason I didn't bring it in is because it's not very popular compared to the others I chose. Also, I had to limit things somewhere financially, and five kits was my limit. They're a fine kit club if they fit your style!

This was very helpful! I’ve been scrapping for 18 years and have accumulated a lot of patterned paper which I don’t tend to use much. I typically use colored card stock for my background and maybe a strip of pattern paper. What I need most is embellishments. So, I joined a club that has an embellishment option and so far I’m loving it. The name is The ScrapRoom if anyone is interested and the embellishment kit is 14.95 a month . And you can opt out each month if you don’t like the selection for the month. Win win for me!
The Scraproom embellishment kit is actually only $12 monthly for subscribers and $13 for non subscribers. I get the Scraproom kit and love it! I get the embellishments kit with my Flavors of the Month kit and these two together cost less than most of these other kits ($36) and gives me a taste of several current paper collections each month. I love that you can skip when you want. And they have outstanding customer service! ❤️
That is a great idea, Cheryl! I wanted to compare base kits together and I did show the ScrapRoom Flavors of the Month main kit as the 5th one in this video. Definitely finding what works for you is exactly the best way to go!
Great point, Stacy! I didn't want to get into embellishment kits because a lot of the other companies offer them too. It's a great sampler style option that I'm really impressed with, even if the kits themselves don't usually fit my style.

It doesn’t actually seem like you like any of them very much . Are there any kits you do like ? Also, you are devaluing the actual curating of the kit. It’s not the value of just the products but the fact that you don’t have to curate them yourself .

I recognize that curating a kit has value and acknowledged in the video that others will have different opinions. Hip Kit is usually my style, but not always. No kit is going to perfectly match my preferences, which is why I switch between them occasionally.
I subscribe to MY OWN KIT, LOL! I have subscribed to kits for many years, and what I have learned is that I need to just shop for myself and what I want, need, and find great bargains on. The shopping adds to my joy, and subscriptions inject chaos into my inventory since other people pick for me. When I look back to purge items I am not using, nearly all of the things I purge were in a kit
Understandable, Linda! That's why I do my own kit each month too, guaranteed to be chock full of things I love! I find that I tend to get excited about new collections and want to buy all of the new things, getting a kit that has a bit of these keeps me from buying full collections. It definitely depends on how you scrap and what your buying preferences are!
My approach as well ... I prefer to curate my own kits. Then it's all my style and much less waste. When I see new collections I like, I'll pick up 3 or 4 of my favorite papers, and a couple of the embellishment packs.
Agreed. I enjoy peachy cheap and waiting for my fave collections to pop up :) also Rosie’s studio has my heart aswell and I wanna buy everything there lol
Thank you, Laura! You did a great job laying these out side by side and comparing them. I mostly agree with you on everything. I have been a long-term subscriber to all of these at one time or another. I did ScrapRoom for a few years and I always had to add on the extra patterned paper and the extra embellishments. Once I did that, you got a nice selection of 4 different collections every month- BUT the price of course went up. I started NJFB about 5 months ago and I love the paper choices- often some non-American Crafts paper that add something different and I like the variety of their less traditional embellishments. They also have an a la carte section that is quite affordable. This month, I agree, they definitely needed an ephemera pack. Hip Kit's exclusive products often are a great value- either in quantity or originality. However, HKC can get pricey if you are like me and want to add on all the add ons !! July kit was all exclusive and had some really great embellishments like the huge conjoined circle and hexagon chipboard! Felicity Jane is gorgeous- but it is the SAME gorgeous every single month- not enough variety. Buy one every 6-12 months and you are good. Citrus Twist I did years ago, and am now starting to look at again. I feel like the kits I have looked at recently from them are pretty decent and I wouldn't need to add on much. Just another opinion for anyone trying to decide which kit fits them.
Absolutely, depending on your scrapbooking style, which kit works for you is going to be subjective. 100%! I agree that Felicity Jane can feel a bit like repeats over time, another reason I don't subscribe to them, but do hit up their sales. Love her stuff, but for me it's a bit pricey as a kit. NJFB is a great concept, I think it needs some refining, but they are on the right track. HKC is making great progress too and I LOVE their exclusives, but I thought it was important to point out that no kit club is perfect. Citrus Twist has come a long way. I wish they still did kit subscriptions, but I completely understand the owner's current situation doesn't allow for it. ScrapRoom's concept is awesome, love that, it's just not for me.

I was just adding on to the discussion with additional thoughts. I also love FJ products-but I wanted to point out for better or for worse... they are very similar every month. If you love, love, love the one that you showed- you will love all of them. They are in my opinion, the most consistent in product, color, and style. For some that may be 5 stars and for some that may be 2 stars. For me that meant 6 months and move on. HKC can be too good, lol. Because you end up liking all the add ons and then temptation sets in =$$$. As a person who always feels like they must have it all, I have to consider the add on potential into the price, haha. Same with ScrapRoom, I had to have the embellishment add on and patterned paper addon. I like NJFB add on potentials because they are a la carte (like $3 each) instead of a full add on like HKC which is $25ish. I am currently subscribed to NJFB and recently joined HKC again but am trying to have more discipline than before when I was spending over $100/month on just HKC.

I subscribed to scraptastic back in the day and Hip Kit club too for some time, With Hip Kit I was not able to use most of the kits because it was too many colors for me and the exclusives weren't my style. For the past few years, I have been doing the Felicity Jane club. Even though I have 2 boys and no girls ad the colors are more girly, I find that it makes me want to pull out and scrap and I just love their colors and the florals. I don't really do much scrapbooking for my family. Most albums are gifts for friends, family, neighn]bors, teachers so I get to play with the girly stuff. Love FJ, This is the only thing I splurge on and I get extra papers and embellishments each month. You can buy the pieces separately;y too if you don't subscribe. I don't ever use stamps but still love this kit.
I missed the Scraptastic era, wasn't even aware of kit clubs back then, it looked like a fun one. I get it completely. I adore FJ's products and I stock up whenever they have a sale, Jeanna's a fab designer! If I could limit myself to just her kit and not want to buy all the other things, I definitely would.

Great video! Yes I use to get scrap room years ago, half no value to me as just some embellishments and never the best page…. In my opinion- of the collection. I did echo park collection club ….but everything started to look the same ☹️…done. I just subscribe to my cherry box…. That I always love🥰 love to mix of crafty fun in general and they just upgraded to bigger box to fit paper😮👍🏻👍🏻 I now just get what I want….if I love an entire collection I get it. If I love the embellishments , I’ll get them with some papers I’ll use ! I loved this, think I like the hip kit best.

I think at this point I've watched at least a dozen videos on different scrapbook and card making kits. I just wanted to say this was the best one I saw. I really appreciated your opinions rather than a simple "all these kits are great" sort of review. I would love to see something like this for travelers notebook kits, because that's the size I tend to work in.

I would love to see a bit more of a gender neutral feel to Hip Kit (which I do think they are trying to do more of, but haven't quite hit yet). NJFB is a fun kit club and though the embellishments are quite often not my style, they may work great for you!
Thank you for all your information regarding Kit Clubs. I have never purchased such items and perhaps in retrospect that is a big downfall for new scrappers. I buy what I like and now I could open my own shop!! Nothing matches.....

Having different levels as lots of clubs have would benefit felicity jane. For example nixing stamps for one of the levels. I am alway tempted by a nice stamp .. but I don’t use them and have way too many. Ditto stencils. I think I’d like to have a smaller option that maybe sticks to paper ephemera and stickers only and maybe come journaling cards . Like how freckled fawn has different options.
I agree, it would be nice. I think though that the stamp is a big draw of her kits and probably what she makes the biggest profit from, I always try to remember these kit clubs are run by small companies, often with just a handful of employees.
Out of all of the kits that are presented in this video, Not Just for boys ranks highest ONLY becuase of the paper selection and ONLY for the particular month that is shown. For me, this is my first time hearing about these kits/clubs, so I don't have an overall opinion, but thanks for sharing and going through all of the kits.
I was very intentional in choosing the kit from either August or September that I liked the most from each club to give it the best shot. I think they all are awesome and will appeal to different scrappers differently! Love that!

That’s funny. What I like most about the scrap room kits are the things you don’t. I like the card stock since I almost always use a card stock base and I like that I don’t get full packs of embellishments because I rarely use them all. I like that I have to bring things in from my stash many times to complement the kit because it allows me to use those things.
Understandable! I think all of these kits are fantastic, they have a wide appeal and comparing them definitely will depend on your personal scrappy style.
My favorite was the last kit. I use cardstock a lot so it would be best for. I like the 4 themes. Also I don’t use puffy stickers or stamp packs.

All of the kit clubs have design teams that use the kits every month in a variety of ways. I believe the Scrap Room kit has recipe cards you can download from their site as well as ideas. For the Hip Kit Club and Citrus Twist, I follow their Facebook groups where you can see tons of people posting pictures of how they've used the kits and there's usually challenges/sketches in there too.
I don’t have any kits that I subscribe to but might do it based on the information given in this video

Thank you! This was so awesome. I was subscribed to the scraproom one....must have just been a bad time because out of the 6 months, i only found 1 month's likeable. I had the extra add on pieces n most of the time the add ons were not worth the cost. I often got these embellishments that were like in Joann Fabrics dollar bins....years ago! I'm not intentionally dogging them but like i said i must have just hit it at a bad time. 😒 i have thought about trying it again.

I have in the past subscribed to NJFBKC and enjoyed the cut files since I don’t have a machine either but was not using up enough of the kit and also have been subscribed to Scraproom and enjoyed that one but some months I just found some of them hard to use up and always had a lot of the card stock left so I ended that one. This was a great review based on my experiences of those 3.

Thank you, Laura! I subscribed to Hip Kit a few years back and I subscribed for 2 years, it was expensive since I live in Europe. I loved that I got most of the big designers. But the color scheme at that time was just pink and aqua every month, I still have a hard time using those colors together. I thought it was sad that 2 of the months per year it was only Hip Kit exclusives no brand names in those months and mostly AC and Pinkfresh. I’m sad to say that I love both Maggie Holmes and Pinkfresh to look at, but I have such a hard time working with their collections. I did feel I had to buy the embellishments kit as well, since I wanted more embellishments to play with. Sounds great that they have made some changes even though they have the same concept.
True! No kit club is perfect! I do know that one of the reasons for the exclusive only kits is because of massive shipping delays that happen every year around the holidays and getting product in from American Crafts is still a huge nightmare. I love the mix of exclusive and other brands too. I would love for them to drop the alpha, keep the titles, and add a pack of stickers maybe instead.

Yes! It's a sure-fire way to make sure your kit is 100% your style and includes your favorite things! I do like Hip Kit overall, but I generally mix it in with my stash because I like the individual products more than using them together, if that makes sense. I did try Clique Kit for a while, was sad to see them stop doing subscription kits.

I loved this video talking about kit clubs. You and I have totally different styles but I really love watching all your videos.I have been scrapping for over 20 years and have never subscribed to a kit club. If I was starting out now,I know I would personally get The Scraproom Kits. That way I could learn about a variety of companies and their styles. I enjoy looking at Felicity Jane . I'm not quite in to the paper but I love all the other neat little things she puts into the kit each month. Some of them in the past have been so unique. My third opinion is about the NJFB. I love the fact that it is geared towards boys/ men. And I loved the cut files. Like I said earlier,I have never purchased a kit and probably never will. I am downsizing to move to a much smaller place and my stash is HUGE. I really never need to buy another thing except adhesive. I have given so much away and it's hard but I am thankful that I can keep most of my most loved things. Thanks again for doing this review. I really enjoyed it!!!

Great video, the only kit club I have done is hip kit and I have been very happy with it overall. I go back and forth with ordering the extra embellishment kits. I agree the August kit can use a bit more but i have leftovers from July that coordinate nicely. I do see lots of people using NJFB kits and while some look usable some look very specific and themed. I do like the NJFB acrylic pieces and other very unique embellishments. Thanks!!
Agreed 100% with your assessment. I enjoy Hip Kit for the most part, for sure, but I was actually glad to have an example of a kit that just didn't work for me. No kit club will nail it every single month without fail.
Love this breakdown and your honest opinion!!! I just would rather spend that money and support my local scrapbook store and get exactly what I want each month! I’m lucky there is still a scrapbook store where I live. I think if you have been scraping a long time like me your best bet is to get grab bags or boxes that HIp Kit, Felicity Jane, Pink Fresh just to name a few offer a couple times a year. Great bang for your buck and you will get those exclusives without that high price!!
Agree with you 100%, Christie! I get the majority of my stash from those sales personally. I don't have a local scrapbook store, so I choose to support these small businesses instead, but definitely the sales and warehouse boxes are the way to go!

I agree with most of your comments about these five kit clubs. I have bought the occasional kit from all of them but have never subscribed to any of them. At the moment I am enjoying Shimelle's Best of Both World kits because I can choose to purchase her suggestions or shop from my stash.
BOBW is such a fun kit idea! I've watched a few of her videos and I love how she mixes new with older product.
This is such an interesting and helpful video!
Being in the UK, shipping tends to be an issue but I did purchase once from Hip Kit last year and was really happy and I can see a one-off purchase from them now and again happening in the future as I was impressed with the mix of exclusives and 'brand name' (I got the June 2020 kit which included Hip Kit exclusives, Pinkfresh and Stamp Market), and for the price combined with postage it didn't seem too bad.
The scraproom kit doesn't seem like it would work for me, for the same reasons you stated - no alphas, not enough stickers/ephemera so I think I would feel like I needed to buy more from the collections just to use all of the papers if I was sticking to 'by collection'.
The other kits were interesting concepts but I'm not sure I would order them - Felicity Jane hasn't been one I've ever felt drawn to, just not my thing I don't think and Not Just For Boys seemed a little much when I would have to take into account shipping, also I don't really use stamps so they would just gather dust.
The only other one I might consider would be Citrus Twist but I wouldn't subscribe and would just order if the monthly kit appealed to me.

I have subscribed to Scraproom for about a year. I love that I get a taste of 4 lines and the embellishments are plenty for one page or a double spread. It makes me use alphas from stash. I miss subscribing to the Hip Kit I may change.
ScrapRoom has a great concept! If it always focused on companies I love and skipped the card stock, I'd consider it. Love the sampler idea though. Hip Kit has been knocking out of the park a lot this year, I really enjoy it.

I have way too much paper from being in several kit clubs years ago but I really like the fun colors and new papers from these kits. Almost makes me want to get a few kits for the paper. LOL! I have actually bought a few card making kits because of the great ephemera they provide.
Welcome! I enjoy having one kit subscription to bring in new product, so I'm not as tempted to buy all the new collections. I get to play with new things without overbuying. Mostly though, I scrap from the stash kits I make on a monthly basis, mixing in old and new to keep it interesting and still make a dent in my stash.

I love the concept of the ScrapRoom, if it was more my style, I'd sign up in a heartbeat. If you're building up a stamp stash, it makes perfect sense to stick with FJ, their stamps are fantastic!!

I use FJ as my Project Life kit. I love the cohesiveness the overall album has while each month is still different enough to tell them apart. But if I was just a "traditional" scrapbooker I would probably not even go with a kit! I'm very much a collection based scrapbooker so kits that mix and match collections or don't give the full collection are just not my jam. I love that all of the kits you showed are so different, more opportunity to find the perfect kit for your style.
That's a great point, Morgan. Felicity Jane was brilliant for my Project Life a few years back, I really enjoyed using it then. I do enjoy collections as well, I keep my favorite companies' collections together for that reason. I definitely wanted to give a lot of examples that could reach a variety of scrappy styles. Understandable! I find creating kits from my stash more satisfying, but it's fun to get new things coming in to keep me from buying whole collections.
great video! I don't use alphas ever at all so I kinda wish there were more kits that didn't include them --- made them add ons for a discount or something, which would allow people who do use them a lot to order multiples..
I get that. I don't really need an alpha every month either, but as someone who puts together my own kits every month, custom kits are a pain in the butt! They are really hard to pull together on a monthly basis for the sheer number of customers that these kit clubs serve. Most of these are small companies run by just a handful of people and trying to offer customization is ridiculously hard for them. So, I agree with you, but I absolutely understand why they don't.
Great video Laura! I love my Club Scrap subscription. Not every month is my style and I alter the pre-designed layouts. The papers and embellishments are always gorgeous. They aren't for everyday scrapbooking though.

Thank you for the comparison video! So much good information. I get the Cocoa Daisy kit, and while it is more expensive and all Cocoa Daisy product, I find I get SO much product and usually love the themes. It’s just another option for people who might be interested.
Cocoa Daisy has fantastic kits, I've picked up a few bits and pieces from them. To my knowledge, they don't have a 12x12 kit though, which is why I didn't include them.

I actually was on My Creative Scrapbook's Design Team at one point. The reason I didn't bring it in is because it's not very popular compared to the others I chose. Also, I had to limit things somewhere financially, and five kits was my limit. They're a fine kit club if they fit your style!

This was very helpful! I’ve been scrapping for 18 years and have accumulated a lot of patterned paper which I don’t tend to use much. I typically use colored card stock for my background and maybe a strip of pattern paper. What I need most is embellishments. So, I joined a club that has an embellishment option and so far I’m loving it. The name is The ScrapRoom if anyone is interested and the embellishment kit is 14.95 a month . And you can opt out each month if you don’t like the selection for the month. Win win for me!
The Scraproom embellishment kit is actually only $12 monthly for subscribers and $13 for non subscribers. I get the Scraproom kit and love it! I get the embellishments kit with my Flavors of the Month kit and these two together cost less than most of these other kits ($36) and gives me a taste of several current paper collections each month. I love that you can skip when you want. And they have outstanding customer service! ❤️
That is a great idea, Cheryl! I wanted to compare base kits together and I did show the ScrapRoom Flavors of the Month main kit as the 5th one in this video. Definitely finding what works for you is exactly the best way to go!
Great point, Stacy! I didn't want to get into embellishment kits because a lot of the other companies offer them too. It's a great sampler style option that I'm really impressed with, even if the kits themselves don't usually fit my style.

Thanks for the breakdown and all the info. I personally love the Scraproom. I love that you get a bit of four different lines. Sometimes clubs focus on a total line and if it’s not your style your just out. With this club, if I don’t t like one line I can just put it aside.

Also, you are devaluing the actual curating of the kit. It’s not the value of just the products but the fact that you don’t have to curate them yourself .
Actually, I liked all of these kits for different reasons, but I was trying to be as unbiased as possible. I recognize that curating a kit has value and acknowledged in the video that others will have different opinions. Hip Kit is usually my style, but not always. No kit is going to perfectly match my preferences, which is why I switch between them occasionally.
