One of the most influential electronic artists that most people these days have never heard of. Starting in Sheffield, England in 1973. Chris Watson, Richard H, Kirk and then the addition of Stephen Mallinder on Vocals/Bass, recording to tape then cutting it up and painstakingly reassembling it. their early sound was far more experimental/industrial, Chris Watson left the group in '81 to get a "real" job in Television and is now a sound recordist for the BBC namely working with Sir David Attenborough on his nature documentaries and In 2018 he assisted Hildur Guðnadóttir in recording sounds from the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant for her Grammy Award-winning score for the miniseries Chernobyl. The group continued as a duo until 1994 before splitting with Richard H. Kirk continuing as a solo artist with 30+ aliases until his untimely death at the age of 65 in 2021, his back catalogue is so vast AllMusic called him contemporary techno's busiest man, while Stephen Mallinder has continued to create music sporadically as well as work as a Music Journalist and University Lecturer
You're sure to like quite a few Cabaret Voltaire songs. I'd suggest Just Fascination, I Want You (same actor who played the preacher, playing Nosferatu), Colours, No One Here.
One of my favorite tracks by one of my favorite bands. In the mid to late 80s, these guys were FUNKY. Their cover of the theme from "Shaft" is FANTASTIC. CV weren't huge sellers, but they got a lot of club play for a stretch, and did alright for themselves off of that. Stephen Mallinder (the singer) has also put out a few excellent records in the last few years as well.
The other member, Richard H. Kirk has also been making a great many albums under various names, Sandoz, Electronic Eye, Cabaret Voltaire, (by himself), among lots of others. Sadly he died a couple of years ago. RIP.
This was the first song of theirs I heard, and it was a staple in the alternative music dance clubs. It was played for years and always packed the floor. Amazing band. Check out their songs James Brown, I Want You and Sex, Money, Freaks if you want more of a taste of their amazing music!
I think I was 12 years old when I first saw this video on USA's Night Flight and was blown away by it. Even better though is 'I Want You' by the same band.
This is absolutely a dance banger. I had the 12 inch, had to order it from The Record Rack in Houston on import because it wasn't available otherwise. Spent many a night in clubs dancing to songs such as this.
Dance Brad Dance!! You are correct! This was a Dance song. Never played on the radio! I Have this album It was hard to find!! A request! Get the balance right by Depeche mode!! Purely a Dance song!! I have the 12inch single remix version. Bands did remixes for clubs!! Have a great day Brad!!

LOL, I know them and love them!
I think Chris Watson also joined Andrew McKenzie's The Hafler Trio for a while after leave the Cabs although I couldn't swear to it.
I've been listening to The Cabs since mid 80's. My top 3 band in the world.
In Ferris Bueller’s Day Off he has a Microphonies poster on his wall.
I was always envious of that that poster.

Thanks for covering these kind of bands ❤
Early industrial. This was so different than anything that was being played on the radio that it was just so cool.

You are killing it with some of these industrial reactions

''Don't Walk Away'' is even better...

This is actually a mash up of two songs. On the album, Micro-phonies, it's two separate tracks ❤
Yes "Do Right" and "Sensoria".
❤
You hear this when rap and hip hop and they crazy and sampled in documentary raps say so much and then and saying
Does that sentence make any sense at all?
