As an MCFC fan i miss the frequent trips that i used to make to both Highfield Road, and the Baseball Ground ..... I never got to see us win at Derby, although I did on a few occasions at Highfield Road.
Great ground Coventry's have now, definitely worthy of premier League football. I used to love the away trips to Coventry from Liverpool to support LFC at Highfield road in the 80s and early 90s.

I once walked from the coach park by the away end, to the cathedral bomb damaged during the war, had a good look around and walk back having a few pints along the way. Great day out. Different times now, my eldest lad has been to man utd and Leicester away as a neutral with mates who support both teams. I'd go to a game as neutral if offered a ticket apart from small heath and cov.

Yep Brum for me maybe Wolves a bit in the 80s rest of the Midlands clubs you can forget, might no be palatable to some but having gone to football for 50, years Man U dominated the 60s & 70s away support, Leeds & Chelsea dominated the 80s hooligan scene with proper big numbers then you had your West Ham & Spurs, Millwall smaller numbers but there to take on most.

Wasn’t there but i’ve seen videos ; derby fans went to a family social club type thing called the cherry tree , and started trying to smash it up by throwing things at it and looking for trouble , so cov fans came out of the pub and the derby fans ran down the road and some of them got quite badly battered Then during the game both sides were throwing bottles and coins at each other and one cov fan took it upon himself to run into the derby end which obviously increased tensions And after the game derby fans waited for coventry fans on a hill outside of the stadium despite there being loads of kids and families there and started a scrap
It was definitely 50/50 from each team, Derby fans wrecking that pub but the Cov fans then came out with knives which is seen on videos. Awful from both teams

I first met this guy 2 seasons ago when Cov played Brum in the FA Cup in St Andrew’s and he turned up near the players entrance wearing a Villa scarf believe it or not. That left me gobsmacked, also the steward I was standing next to. Even the players, who he approached for autographs and photos, looked baffled when they saw him. They were put off when he began calling them Oi who are you? I have seen him since at a Cov Building Society Arena earlier in the season. In Irish Gaa football/ hurling and in rugby the fan's mix with no trouble !... And I believe its the soccer thing of keeping them apart ( ps I know soccer had trouble with Hooligans before ! ) but they let the hooligans win by separating good honest fans instead of getting the hooligans out. I know it's going to be hard but they should try and have some more normal fans mix in small sections at first and try and build it up over time.
