  • Apologies upfront for the audio issues on this one, folks! 30+MPH winds on a roof is tough...but I tried! I visited my friends Lydia and Gina of Eix Verd (Green Path), an ecological design company focused on urban farming.
I checked out their rooftop garden, which they use as a testing site to see what plants and gardening methods perform best for them in their area. They then take those principles and use them in their green roof designs and installations for clients around Barcelona.

I absolutely love how adaptable plants can be so that you can grow containers even on a high rise balcony for a little fresh herb from time to time.

It’s awesome to see that this study and activity is happening . Great to know that there is hope for the future to change the detached from nature reality , that many people live with in city life !
The energy saving efficiency , and the de polluting effects are also awesome !! 👏👍 I love it 🥰

Buddleja and fig grow on nothing but provide shade and fruit. I'd put in a row of buddleja on the South and West sides to protect from the afternoon sun.

Great video! I'm thinking to make a living ground for my city deck and the sedum tip was really helpful. I'm in San Francisco so seeing a windy, drought-prone Mediterranean example was perfect!

I say someone make a brown roof and leave a flat roof unplanted. Use it for a compost pile for a few people. Just watch life culture. Plenty of spores floating along. Birds poop seeds. Awesome science experiment! How long will it take to grow a roof spermigated from the planet instead of US. Way cool! My old Japanese exchange sudent has roof veggie and fruit garden-with pomegranite!

I grow favas all winter because I grow in pots too, but I can't bring myself to cut them down before the beans set because the beans are so delicious, I understand that cutting them before fruit set is better however.
