I really love that the entire story of MT was the result of a happenstance, no chosen hero bullshit, just a shitty NEET getting a second chance, by chance.
The author confirmed that the Genius Magic Knight is, none other than, Aisha Greyrat. This was done on one of his Q/A sessions which is originally in Japanese.
@@Lasikisal well if u think about it nanahoshi took years to learn interdimensional teleportation even with perugius's help so it likely took Aisha decades to do it.
what I loved about this epilogue that shows Rudeus not as the chosen one or the hero, but as someone who had a second chance and his actions changed the future, not because he is a chosen one that gives him powers to defeat demon kings and gods but for trying to be a better person, that's not what most of the stories I've read no matter if they're isekai or not, even outside the world of anime and manga.
One thing that is often overlooked is that Lilia wanted to summon someone who wanted to save the boy. Ofc it was Nanahoshi since she loves a boy but was it she? Well not only her because literally in moment of summon there was a one guy who also wanted to save boy's life in cost of his own from incoming truck...
Fantastic video. I personally was extremely frustrated by the ending of Mushoku Tensei.... for about 30 seconds. Then I read the afterword by its author and he was so completely right. Mushoku Tensei is the story of Rudeus' lives. Yes, we are left with a lot of questions. But what we were following was Rudeus. And his life is complete with no regrets. If there ever is a sequel I am ready to pounce on that shit. If there isn't I am and always will be satisfied with knowing that Mushoku Tensei is one of the best stories I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing! Thank you for making this video I loved watching it!
Exactly! The world was beautiful and the grand plot of the world was so perfectly written, but that was never the point. We were never supposed to get the perfect conclusion to the world. We got the perfect conclusion to the man who we followed all throughout this world. His journey was the story, not the world itself
What I wonder if the connection between the Time Miko and Orsted. Spoilers! It can't be a coincidence that she is born more or less when his own loop more or less ends. I need to re-read the epilogue but I believe the Time Miko also has a different kind of mana than the norm and Orsted barely regains any of his with the mana potions Rudy helps create. That and a million more theories that I and others have created, like how after Hitogami is defeated, to prevent the destruction of the Seven Sided World Lara may take up any responsibility he may had and using her research with other time whimy knowledge that the dragon race may share she gives a prophesy to a timeline she wasn't born into. But above all that, the thing that struck with me the most was the ending. A hurt kid, lashing out to a world that life after life only gave her pain and when finally some hope found her, the world took it away again. So she used all her might to reach beyond space and time to save the guy that gave her hope, she bashed her considerable power against Fate Itself but her power wasn't guided by a carefully crafted magic circle, it was just a little girl pouring her heart trying to do the impossible. And all her might, all her pain, love and hope to reach someone that could save him barely gave Fate a scratch but that was enough. Enough for a sad soul to slip by into this world of sword and magic. And this very flawed soul, with his decire to make the best of his second chance tried his best and in doing so changed lives and fates without knowing it. The Blue Haired Magician made a much younger disciple that inspired her to hone her magic and ended up as a royal magician. The Green haired elf found a friend and learned all sort of things and even when they were separated she keep improving herself. By that point the scratch that a lonely and hurt little girl managed to the universe had become visible as a red gem floating in the sky. And when the Red Lion fell for Rudeus and it seemed she would become a much more ladylike wife to him, ensuring that Rudeus would cooperate with her dad's attempts to regain the status of Sauros heir the universe lost. A little girl and the soul of a man that regreted how be lived his life defeated Fate and managed to bring someone who could save the young man that gave the girl hope. Nanahoshi. But Fate or the Universe was a sore loser and in defeat it threw a tantrum that ruined many lives and split families apart. But in doing so, it also lost any hope to return people to their original fates, and Rudeus gained even more power to change the destiny of those he interacted with. All in all, his friends were happier because of it, and even when Hitogami ruined many lives Oldeus returned to warn his younger self and Hitogami got to feel the same as Fate must have. Not to mention all the marvels Rudeus brought to the world with the help of Cliff and Zanoba or the presence of the Speld race and so much more. The Time Miko's next lifetime is likely to be much different than all her previous ones.
The way I see it, its that time loops in MT are like drawing a circle around a world, inside which you could draw another smaller circle that takes “priority”. Meaning the smaller time loop must resolve first, before the larger one can continue. So, this is how i interpret how the events related to time happened: The first and largest time loop, is that of Orsted. In one of these time loops, he has created the conditions for the blessed child to start looping. This happened somewhere of the last 10 years before the rebirth of Laplace. This means the Orsted time loop is “paused” as the newer one takes priority to resolve. In one of the blessed child tome loops, she created the conditions needed for the hero summoning. After that she “broke out” of her own loop, to interact with a time before her time loop started but was still inside the one of Orsted, which led to the condition for the child to exist. This is where Rudi and Nanahoshi ended up. The last question is whether the world where Rudi is from and the new one are both affected by the same loop or if the time loop only happens in the new world alone, while every other world exists in its own bubble, where time flows on a wider scale but are internally independent. Yeah no idea either.
@@frankwest5388 I'll be completely honest. Lack of sleep, english being my third language and having only five or so neurons made me understand a third of your comment. This may have very little to do with anything but it is too much of a coincidence that around the end of Orsted's loop a Miko with time powers and her own loop was born. I always supposed that she was the result of the Dragon God time technique, as in, the moment Orsted is born or rather the moment his loop start there is another Time Miko and when his loop end there is the Time Miko we know. Your comment made me think that I may have it backwards... Or sideways... I am pretty sure that in the Miko chapter and in various points throughout the story (like how the mana potions don't work the same for Orsted) it is hinted that Orsted's mana is different than normal, just like the Time Miko and that is part of why they could manipulate time or loop. Sorry, lack of sleep has me rambling... Basically, your response made me think that the Time Miko wasn't intentionally created to mark Orsted's loop's end but rather the discharge of time mana or whatever resulted in her having time powers... @@frankwest5388 Regarding the time looping theory, if the smaller loop has to finish in order for the big loop to continue then how come orsted knows aboute the time looping miko?. If it were after me I would say that the loops go on independetly of eatch other (for every orsted loop there are a infinity of time travel miko loops)
@@frankwest5388 I personally theorize that the Blessed Child's loops are tied to Orsted's, Meaning that BC's loop 30 will also be Orsted's loop 30. If you think about it, there no reason someone that has the ability to reverse the time of an target by 24 hours would loop back to a set point in time upon death. While they're not completely unrelated abilities, they're not abilities that one would expect to be naturally tied together. One really interesting point is that with every loop, the world around her seems to be different regardless of her input. Even as she becomes an emotionless machine and just mindlessly follows every command given to her, the results keep varying, her deaths vary, and some things seem to be different from previous loops from even before her birth. Think about it. If all that was happening was that upon her death her ability rewinded herself to a set point in time, then things would always reset to the same point with all the same variables in place, and her input would be the single factor that has any chance of causing any variance in the world. Yet somehow even when she gives up on putting any input into the world around her, there seems to sometimes be massive differences between loops. My theory is that all those changes are caused by all the actions Orsted took up to that point in that specific loop. At the ending it says that to bring forth the change that would save Akito, the Blessed Child gave up her looping ability. If you consider that her actions result in Orsted's victory over Hitogami, that means that as Orsted's loops finally come to an end, by extension, so will hers.
Wow, it had been a while since I'd seen a new youtuber say something intelligent about Mushoku Tensei. Congratulations kid. I completely agree with the thematic part. Actually, I've only aver seen the epilogue from the thematic perspective. Given the rules ot time travel in this scenario, it couldn't have been Lara, by the way.
The point I always get stuck on is Orsted and what he may be keeping secret There is a chance he did not experience that last loop, Orsted himself said this loop felt "different"(maybe he felt the magic circles that enabled his loops fail) and if so I think it would have something to do with what the miko did, severing and damaging fate, which the reincarnation magic probably relied upon, so much that he could no longer loop. Otherwise, it's still possible he can no longer loop but Orsted did experience that loop with the prodigy knight and akihito, Orsted was losing, and Laplace's forces made it to Fittoa (again). But if he did experience that last loop with Akihito there's a chance he's keeping some big secrets bc, ok maybe he never met Akihito, but he had to have noticed the prodigy knight at some point and he had to have known about Asura trying to summon an otherworlder (maybe the path of magic or weapon development he referred to) Orsted is my favorite character, esp bc of how spot on he is about Rudeus' true strength, but he repeatedly kept secrets up until the point he judged it best to reveal them OR was caught by Rudeus Something tells me that, he might not know everything and he isn't even sure what to make of Lara, but I'm sure he has kept something from Nanahoshi and Rudeus that would explain a lot and I'm more curious to know why My theory is that Orsted got desperate, tried to get Asura to summon an otherworlder, and eventually succeeded when he taught the prodigy knight how to summon people, in the hopes of introducing someone Hitogami could not counter I mean if he knew Hitogami was not good with "irregulars" (Otherworlders)... and he kept failing, I'm sure the idea occurred to him... It was said that when the dragons created summoning magic they used and taught techniques that made it impossible to summon people bc of how the techniques were structured Perugius himself would've considered it heresy to rewrite summoning magic BUT it was not impossible to summon people, you just had to reimagine summoning magic from the ground up And person most likely to know that was Orsted but he couldn't do it himself, he could never spend the mana or time to even come close to what the prodigy knight or nanahoshi came up with, so he got asura do it for him And that would mean that, ultimately, Orsted has been vague and evasive about what he knows bc HE triggered this whole story, including the summoning of Akihito(who was useless),nanahoshi, and Rudeus' soul Last thing I'll say is that the anime adaptation made me think it gave some hint at this When Rudy first met Hitogami, where we know that Hitogami was struggling to deal with Rudeus bc Rudeus was the first person who didn't trust him, Hitogami said, casually, Orsted is much better "at that sort of thing" ->summoning people from other worlds It could be slander, him just trying to plant the idea that Orsted is evil in Rudeus' head early on, but it feels too random, to casual and matter of fact We know Hitogami is obsessed with his own safety, he only thinks about dealing with threats to his life, and bc he was struggling with Rudeus I think Hitogami was just speaking his mind, maybe he knew Orsted was trying to summon otherworlders and that they would be a threat to him So his comment was not a joke or slander and Orsted really was aiming to summon people I think Orsted succeeded once he found the prodigy knight but, bc of the miko, it blew up in his face (sort of) and eventually it will work out just not in a way he could have foreseen Honestly I'd be more surprised if Orsted hadn't tried to summon otherworlders given that he knew or theorized that Hitogami would have trouble dealing with them
Then why did Orsted tried to kill Rudeus, even though he says he knew Hitogami, Orsted should have noticed he was an irregular (Otherworlder) since he said it himself that "Paul doesn't have a son, only 2 daughters". If he really was the one who tried summoning and he knew that Hitogami isn't good with irregulars even if he's Hitogami's apostle right there. He should have considered making an ally of him first.
@@trapchan386 i think that doesn't clash with my theory too much bc at that point it was simply unknown For all Orsted knew Rudeus' birth could have been yet another difference in this strange loop just like the mana calamity Since he didn't know why the calamity occurred, it was possible the cause had led to other differences So Orsted let Rudeus live bc he agreed with Nanahoshi, Rudeus was simply an oddity that could be worth investigating later I'm theorizing that Orsted was trying to introduce otherworlders and he might have succeeded but he couldn't have predicted who would be summoned or when bc Miko messed up his plan I also suspect that would be another reason Orsted was willing to listen and take risks for nanahoshi. She was not only his friend but he (may) have also felt guilt bc he accidentally ruined her life Lastly... Orsted doesn't respond well to Hitogami apostles he wasn't aware of When he found out about geese... he felt defeated and dejected When he learned this odd boy was an apostle, it's only natural for him to snap like he did On that note orsted must have been surprised Ruijerd responded as quickly and as fiercely as he did even for a child bc otherwise Orsted would've known it necessary to disable ruijerd first
I don't think Hitogami meant summoning people from other world when he said Orsted is much better " at that sort of thing". Hitogami has (almost) no experience dealing with people who don't trust him because every being in the world automatically trusts him except (people from other worlds, Orsted, DDK Laplace and maybe Dragon race people). On the other hand Orsted is hated or feared by anyone and therefore probably almost no one does trust him and he has do deal with such people.

@@eliteari To be Fair we have no idea about Aisha's life without Rudy, Aisha could have literally taken up Rudy's position as the mage trained in swordplay. Aisha may have showed an interest in magic earlier on (like Rudy) which in turn may have got Roxy to go to the village again to teach Aisha where she also later left with Sylphy as her BFF/Partner/Apprentice, This along with Knowing Paul he probably trained Aisha in the swords styles and counting that Aisha doesn't have Rudy's weakness of being unable to produce a battle aura she would excel at them (Aisha is basicly the perfect Rudy only lacking the MASSIVE amount of mana that Rudy has). all this to say that maybe she at some point came across the dragon king fsr got frozen in time and reemerged around said time of the Timeloop Miko was around...........................................................huge leap but whatever!

@@eliteari I think it makes more sense that Orsted taught her and Asura about those summoning techniques Perugius would've scoffed at the idea that people could be summoned Bc he didn't know that it wasn't impossible, it just that the way summoning magic was practiced by the old dragons and how they taught it that made it look impossible Orsted would be more likely to know the truth about summoning magic and he had the biggest reason to want "irregulars" like Akihito summoned He even says Hitogami has trouble dealing with them I think Orsted is hiding some important info (as usual) about what the things he tried in the last loop
@@eliteari oh also the one time we see Orsted's summoning knowledge clash with Prugius', tho with Rudeus' mana, it straight up overwrites Perugius' contract with Almanfi So I think that tells us that Orsted's "complex technique" (I think that's what Almanfi says) is above that of Perugius bc ... in part bc he knows more about summoning magic, to the point that it can do what Perugius thought was impossible ( like how he thinks summoning ppl is impossible)

BUT it was not impossible to summon people, you just had to reimagine summoning magic from the ground up
And person most likely to know that was Orsted but he couldn't do it himself, he could never spend the mana or time to even come close to what the prodigy knight or nanahoshi came up with, so he got asura do it for him
And that would mean that, ultimately, Orsted has been vague and evasive about what he knows bc HE triggered this whole story, including the summoning of Akihito(who was useless),nanahoshi, and Rudeus' soul
Last thing I'll say is that the anime adaptation made me think it gave some hint at this
When Rudy first met Hitogami, where we know that Hitogami was struggling to deal with Rudeus bc Rudeus was the first person who didn't trust him, Hitogami said, casually, Orsted is much better "at that sort of thing" ->summoning people from other worlds
It could be slander, him just trying to plant the idea that Orsted is evil in Rudeus' head early on, but it feels too random, to casual and matter of fact
We know Hitogami is obsessed with his own safety, he only thinks about dealing with threats to his life, and bc he was struggling with Rudeus I think Hitogami was just speaking his mind, maybe he knew Orsted was trying to summon otherworlders and that they would be a threat to him
So his comment was not a joke or slander and Orsted really was aiming to summon people
I think Orsted succeeded once he found the prodigy knight but, bc of the miko, it blew up in his face (sort of) and eventually it will work out just not in a way he could have foreseen
Honestly I'd be more surprised if Orsted hadn't tried to summon otherworlders given that he knew or theorized that Hitogami would have trouble dealing with them
That kinda makes sense.
@@trapchan386 i think that doesn't clash with my theory too much bc at that point it was simply unknown
For all Orsted knew Rudeus' birth could have been yet another difference in this strange loop just like the mana calamity
Since he didn't know why the calamity occurred, it was possible the cause had led to other differences
So Orsted let Rudeus live bc he agreed with Nanahoshi, Rudeus was simply an oddity that could be worth investigating later
I'm theorizing that Orsted was trying to introduce otherworlders and he might have succeeded but he couldn't have predicted who would be summoned or when bc Miko messed up his plan
I also suspect that would be another reason Orsted was willing to listen and take risks for nanahoshi. She was not only his friend but he (may) have also felt guilt bc he accidentally ruined her life
Lastly... Orsted doesn't respond well to Hitogami apostles he wasn't aware of
When he found out about geese... he felt defeated and dejected
When he learned this odd boy was an apostle, it's only natural for him to snap like he did
On that note orsted must have been surprised Ruijerd responded as quickly and as fiercely as he did even for a child bc otherwise Orsted would've known it necessary to disable ruijerd first
@@joseSanchez-ej2oh okay thx 😊
I don't think Hitogami meant summoning people from other world when he said Orsted is much better " at that sort of thing". Hitogami has (almost) no experience dealing with people who don't trust him because every being in the world automatically trusts him except (people from other worlds, Orsted, DDK Laplace and maybe Dragon race people). On the other hand Orsted is hated or feared by anyone and therefore probably almost no one does trust him and he has do deal with such people.
Amazing stuff man, such a beautiful conclusion for Rudy’s character
Bro you need more subscribers youre my favorite mushoku lore guy
This was very well put together and it was quite enjoyable to listen to! Im looking forward to future content!
The magic knight was confirmed by rifujin to be Aisha. It was confirmed in his blog. I'll try to find the source again, but that is considered the canon until rifujin retcons it.
Hmm that's certainly an interesting choice considering that she will be around 90-100 years old by the time of the epilogue... or maybe it's a younger Aisha who travels to the future? I'd be eager to read the blog if you can find it
@@eliteari To be Fair we have no idea about Aisha's life without Rudy, Aisha could have literally taken up Rudy's position as the mage trained in swordplay.
@@john20red interesting points! I think with Perugius taking a liking to Aisha in the main story's timeline makes it very possible that she could become a subordinate of his in the blessed child's lifetime. It would certainly explain how she is still alive AND how she learned enough about summoning magic to make the summoning formation
@@eliteari I think it makes more sense that Orsted taught her and Asura about those summoning techniques
Perugius would've scoffed at the idea that people could be summoned
Bc he didn't know that it wasn't impossible, it just that the way summoning magic was practiced by the old dragons and how they taught it that made it look impossible
Orsted would be more likely to know the truth about summoning magic and he had the biggest reason to want "irregulars" like Akihito summoned
He even says Hitogami has trouble dealing with them
I think Orsted is hiding some important info (as usual) about what the things he tried in the last loop
@@eliteari oh also the one time we see Orsted's summoning knowledge clash with Prugius', tho with Rudeus' mana, it straight up overwrites Perugius' contract with Almanfi
So I think that tells us that Orsted's "complex technique" (I think that's what Almanfi says) is above that of Perugius bc ... in part bc he knows more about summoning magic, to the point that it can do what Perugius thought was impossible ( like how he thinks summoning ppl is impossible)
I just realized that there are 2 Lilia in this story.
Finally (re)read the epilogue \m/
was I the only one who was disappointed the LN and WN versions were almost exactly the same? I wanted that epilogue to be 2x or 3x more detailed.
Beautiful video
Incredible video! With the anime adaptation, I knew it was only a matter of time for video essays to come up about MT - much like with Fullmetal and HunterxHunter. Though there are still but a few as of this moment, I didn't think it would be this early. Yay!
Thanks for the warning at the beginning. People don’t do that as much as they should. I’m leaving a like and saving the video to come back to after I get caught up :)
Are you caught up?
@@burninglights1 I won’t get caught up until the show is caught up. Will take a while lol. I want to stay anime only unless i get a lot of people telling me to read the ln
@@chrisc.73 alright
Wonderful video
If we think about it then Rudy also destroyed countless lives because he was brought into the world.
The prodigy magic night was revealed to be aishia tho i thought it was roxy cause they say she had tired eyes
My man, a great video, also I started to watch you other videos and they'll great, your way to describe the narrative and the plot of a chapter/story is great.
Great video, I Wonder of Rifujin will actually do a sequel after The LN or is he actually done and will focus on new works
He has confirmed that he will finish the Mushoku Tensei light novel, the Orc hero story light novel, maybe take a break then he will start the sequel.
Can't wait for Part 2
Fuck. I want to watch this video but I don't wanna spoil the ending. I've already spoiled a bunch of MT by going down the YT explanation videos. :^)
just read the light novels or listen to the audiobooks (audible has been releasing 2 per month, so they should be caught up by the end of the year)
that was a cool video
Great video
Does anyone know of an isekai they can recommend where the protagonist wins by skill without getting any overpowered abilities?
I want a sequel to this series so bad. It would be sad without Rudeus and gang but with long lived ones around we will always have a few characters we know.
It would be really cool seeing Rudeus became a literal legend. His contributions to the world is literally everywhere yet everyone passed through it without knowing who invented those, because Rudeus decided to keep it a secret.
@@vogel2499 Tha reminds me of Sevenstars. Her influence can be felt all over too. I don't remember the story saying exactly but I always thought the way the school is similar to Japanese schools with uniforms and stuff was her influence.
TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thunmbnail: Ymir Fritz from AOT, why?
A lot of (at least superficial) parallels between Ymir and the Playback Blessed Child :)
Well, not anymore
