Haha I think when you get to thousands of years old it's gone a bit beyond cougar! I just think in stories where some races live for many times the human lifespan age differences don't really matter, so it's funny when people make a thing about it (which I have seen people do about Ruijerd and Norn in quite a few places). I mean Roxy still looks 14 when Rudy dies of old age!
You always find a way to condense loads of info into extremely comprehensible videos. Really cool how the characters develop in this series and their motivations for doing so. I love the conflict Ruijerd has between his best friend and someone who seemingly cares. Still have trouble remembering that Hitogami is a sly little rat bastard who naturally makes others trust him, so can't completely blame those who do follow him. Even with all the trouble he's going through to get Rudy to trust him, Rudy is skeptical and still hesitates to remain so. Add on that ability to the wit and the man-god is quite the manipulator. Can't say I blame Orsted for wanting to open up a can of whoopass on him lol Glad to hear our shaved fellow gets the kind of life he deserves, eventually. It's so well thought out of how each character could have their own complete story told as it's own book. Anyways, great video! Lookin forward to more!
Ruijerd is one of the best bois in this series he's always trying to do the right thing his ending is very satisfying albeit slightly dark (not too much where it becomes a bad one or even sad about) when you think about it to me. Although he deserves the overall happy ending he gets. When I first read the thing about my favorite character tricking and betraying him I was sad because both he and my favorite character are best bois to me. I wish my favorite character could've gotten a redemption arc and freed from his practical enslavement but, am glad that at least Ruijerd was spared from a tragic end.
Gotta say, I love endings like this. I mean, I am always for plot twists and crazy stuff (reason why Dorohedoro is my number 1), but it's always heartwarming and satisfying to see something heavily implied play out in a neat interesting way.
Ah, sweet! I got into Dorohedoro from the anime but haven't finished the manga yet. It's so good, but you have to be in the right mood to just go along with the strange!
@@NatalieXHunter I got into the manga waaaaaaay back in 2003, back then literally all I had was a single scanlated chapter by mangascreener I think, but it was literally love at first sight at which point I started consuming everything I could by Q Hayashida, which back then was mostly the Maken X manga. It was one of those series I thought would never see an anime release,so I was over the moon when one came out and was actually good despite the abundance of CG.
Has she done any other series? I gotta say I love the art in the manga, reading it after the anime it was so cool. I looked at some pages for ages just with all the detail, where the setting has that crowded feel and she draws every little thing. The story is great too.
@@NatalieXHunter she has made the aforementioned Maken X to completion before Dorohedoro which is a manga and also a game, although I never quite understood the relationship of the manga and game and nowadays she's doing Dai Dark, which I must admit I haven't been following too closely since there were few chapters when I found it. Maken is not as good as Dorohedoro, but it's still a trippy interesting read; Dai Dark seems to have the weird of Dorohedoro but on the few chapters I had read it didn't grasp me quite as much which is why I've been holding off on reading. But yes, her weird art, full of grimy dirty environments and how every other person is absolutely jacked are definitely what drew me in. If you have the opportunity, I seriously recommend seeking out some Japanese print manga volumes, as she's a plastic artist first mangaka second, the covers use texture work, superposition and other things that are very unlike any other mangas I've held in my hands (although I haven't managed to import all of them as back in the day I was a poor uni student and the book store I ordered them through has closed).
I'm going to record the next part later tonight - just having a break to catch up on some new season anime. I've decided that once I finish ODT I'm going to start doing live readings of some other side content as streams on TH-cam, too, so people can either listen along live or watch the video whenever they want. I think it might be a nice way to do these kinds of stories.

The ring was given to him by Death God Randolph and it was specifically designed to counter Vita by having the illusion be interrupted. By what? By a vision of a dead loved one reminding them of their passing. It's actually a very nice moment as Rudeus finally gets some degree of closure on Paul's death

The dark god vita part was insanely satisfying and trippy. I always thought Rinia and the Princess were cute potential partners and those visions were nice “what ifs” for them. I’d also add that although you told us about the norn and ruijerd thing, I almost couldn’t believe it. Then I read the books and yeah, it’s a really cute couple.
I think it's funny when Rudeus wakes up normally and Norn is there and he thinks for a moment he's in another one of those dreams and this time Norn is meant to be his wife, and thinks Vita is unoriginal!
Also, while it was fun to see the what if with Ariel, I'm kinda glad Rudeus didn't end up with her - he's got to leave someone for poor Luke after stealing his soulmate Eris!

You know I hope the sequel protagonist questions Rudy getting all these connections and his whole family and the powerful connections. It’s possible that Ruijerds daughter has a kid or has partner who is a Superd from the village in this timeline. That’s very interesting what happens with the slime though and all those visions. I can only imagine it will be as trippy as his current PTSD and nightmares. And it’s rather interesting how infrequent they all meet meaning Dead End which shows how they are all close but still independent and busy. Would be interesting to see some twists and major changes. Also I’m really curious how life is later and also of everything Lara thought as a child if they give more of her perspective in the new series

No, there's no release date known or anything. But based on what the author has said, I think he'll start work on it this year, it won't be forever (he has some other stuff to finish first).
Not to hand, no. It's not so easy to find stuff like that when you can't search in Japanese and are reading things through machine translations or reports of translations, so that's probably why it's not easy to see a distinct place where he definitively says 'there will be a sequel' when people are discussing it in English. People have seen them but it's always a headache to find them again. tbh though, even if he'd said nothing, MT was clearly written as part of a bigger six faced world saga, and since he's done Old Dragon's Tale after finishing MT, which sets up even more stuff that would only be paid off in a sequel, there's nothing to suggest he wouldn't do it.
The Children Rudeus, Eris and Ruijerd rescued are in the beast village, they grow up to hold responsible positions in the village and you'll see them later on in the story. Pursena and Linia will start working for Aisha in one of the businesses which Rudeus started and Aisha manages.
No - they are related to them (Linia is the older sister of the girl Minitona, who Eris makes friends with, the daughter of Gyes, and therefore the niece of Ghislaine), but Linia and Pursena are already away at university when they encounter the beast tribes in the first season.
Minitona and Tursena were and they're the little sisters of Linia and Pursena, respectively. There's no reference to Linia and/or Pursena before the University arc so I don't think there is any way to be sure. Maybe they were already at the Magic University.

I don't really find it strange, like, not like the Aisha thing. She's an adult when they get together and it's not like he was interested in her when she was a kid - it's just like she idolized him and grew up to fall in love with him. In other loops they got together but didn't meet until she was already an adventurer, so presumably an adult. I know he's 500 years old but that isn't weird really in this setting - as I said to someone else Elinalise is much older than that and she married someone Rudy's age, it's just how it is if you want your long lived characters to be able to be romantically involved with human characters in this kind of story.

No, there's no release date known or anything. But based on what the author has said, I think he'll start work on it this year, it won't be forever (he has some other stuff to finish first).

Not to hand, no. It's not so easy to find stuff like that when you can't search in Japanese and are reading things through machine translations or reports of translations, so that's probably why it's not easy to see a distinct place where he definitively says 'there will be a sequel' when people are discussing it in English. People have seen them but it's always a headache to find them again. tbh though, even if he'd said nothing, MT was clearly written as part of a bigger six faced world saga, and since he's done Old Dragon's Tale after finishing MT, which sets up even more stuff that would only be paid off in a sequel, there's nothing to suggest he wouldn't do it.

The Children Rudeus, Eris and Ruijerd rescued are in the beast village, they grow up to hold responsible positions in the village and you'll see them later on in the story.
Pursena and Linia will start working for Aisha in one of the businesses which Rudeus started and Aisha manages.
No - they are related to them (Linia is the older sister of the girl Minitona, who Eris makes friends with, the daughter of Gyes, and therefore the niece of Ghislaine), but Linia and Pursena are already away at university when they encounter the beast tribes in the first season.
Minitona and Tursena were and they're the little sisters of Linia and Pursena, respectively. There's no reference to Linia and/or Pursena before the University arc so I don't think there is any way to be sure. Maybe they were already at the Magic University.

I don't really find it strange, like, not like the Aisha thing. She's an adult when they get together and it's not like he was interested in her when she was a kid - it's just like she idolized him and grew up to fall in love with him. In other loops they got together but didn't meet until she was already an adventurer, so presumably an adult. I know he's 500 years old but that isn't weird really in this setting - as I said to someone else Elinalise is much older than that and she married someone Rudy's age, it's just how it is if you want your long lived characters to be able to be romantically involved with human characters in this kind of story.
@@NatalieXHunter yea with an explanation like that i can be...ok with it. He is long lived, just didnt see him getting with Norn. But the fact that she was an adult makes it way better in my mind.

I didn't really, but more because I'm not a huge fan of Norn and would rather he got with someone a bit cooler haha. I don't mind them ending up together, it just wasn't something I was super hoping for or anything.
I feel like redues' story is just a side story compared to the sequel
I think the best comparison I've seen is that Rudeus' story is like The Hobbit compared to the sequel as LoTR.
