I really enjoyed this video. Concidering this camera for videovlogging...BUT can you have it on a tripod and still flip down the screen so that you see yourself?

I love my 600D but after seeing this Review I think I will also get the Olympus! I travel a lot and it kinda annoys me that I have to take my heavy 600D (and my Macbook because no wifi) with me but I still wanted to have high quality photos. Thanks for the Review! You really sold me 👍🏻
The 14-42 EZ pancake lens is great. IQ is good for a kit lens and it easily fits in a jacket pocket.

FYI, there are also pancake zoom lens that is half the height of what she uses - there is the Panasonic 12-32 or 14-42 Power zoom. There're a few fixed lenses, and the best value is the 20mm or the 14mm.
I bought this at xmas time. I love it. Love your honest review! I also have the 45mm lens but haven't used it yet :)

RaenMilesTan you're so welcome! And I wouldn't use the 40mm for filming TH-cam videos as its a prime lens so it's too zoomed in for my room, I wouldn't fit in the shot! Xx

hey :) I use the same camera for making my videos and I wonder how you do it! I can't see if I'm focused or not while filming because its not possible to flip the display up just down :(

Great video however I already just bought the Canon EOS M5 which has the flip down screen and I hate it since I cannot see myself to vlog using a tripod. I like the portability of this camera but would have the same issue. Can you pls do a video on how you sorted this out and what that adapter looks like with the camera on the tripod so you can see yourself to vlog? I would love to see this!

Great video, really really helpful review :) I also have this camera and I was just wondering if you've had any problems shooting indoor at night? I've noticed all the pictures and videos I've tried to take have been really quite yellow.
Nicola Davidson yes I've noticed that with mine too! If you use the flash, or even buy a better mini external flash it should help that lots! Xx

Hi I just recently purchased the Olympus Pen E-PL7 and am so excited to take pictures with it! just wanted to ask, with your pen when you press the button to take a photo does your camera make a fanning/static-like noise? cos mine does and I'm not sure if its supposed to be like that and i'm worried. thanks!

Are you using any filter in this video? The colors look awesome in this vid and I can't achieve that effect despite adjusting the WB. I own an EPL 7 with the kit lens + 45mm lens. Am considering the 17mm lens for vlogging on the go.

Libby Ellen I actually found a fix to this! You know the little clip that you twist on your camera to attach to the tripod? You can buy a long version for about £3 on Amazon. It's a bit like a very thin ruler with a line in the middle. You put the camera on that and then that on the tripod and you can flip your screen :)

Yes yes this is the same one I actually picked up! I think it's called an adaptor or a jack or something, but it does the trick! Sorry I hadn't found it by the time I filmed this xxx

Very interesting review. I have owned this camera for a little over a year now and a number of your comments resonated with me. My primary reason for choosing this camera is for back packing. I wanted a camera that was fairly light and small that gave full control over all the variables. I also wanted interchangeable lenses. A plus for me here is that I own 3 what I call dumb (Nikon) lenses from the 1980s. Using a speed booster adapter, regularly use those lenses which greatly enhances what this camera can do. I too find the back screen a bit delicate and in fact I did have to send the camera back to switch out the back screen when it developed a dead line. To compensate for that I bought a camera case which covers the back screen. I am always very protective of the back screen now. Other than that I find it to be a very good camera.

I just invested in this camera to take my blog to a new level and also my fitness videos BUT I didn't know about all these lenses :( So my question is can you do any good stuff with the lenses it comes it? ie.for me..fitness videos and good quality pictures? Laura Scanlon - BodyZone hi lovely, I'm so so sorry I just spotted this comment now! Yes the kit lens is still great for sharp & bright insta pics and videos, I don't think you'd necessarily need to even buy another type of lens for TH-cam, the kit lens should work fine I think! X

i wonder how do i change the brightness when im in a recording?
whats the difference between the 17mm pancake and the one that you have? Is the size the only difference? Will it still perform it the exact same way?
+Sarah Kassim as far as I know both lenses perform the same way in terms of photo quality and results, but the pancake lenses are flatter, more compact lenses that automatically open out and focus (like on a digital camera) when the camera is turned on. Non-pancake lenses are bulkier, and you have to manually twist the lens to focus it on your subject. So I prefer the pancake lenses, they are a necessity for filming things like youtube videos when you need an automatic focus xxx

+Kelvin Lau Hi Kelvin, I've been using aperature priority mode (it's the "A" one) so I can turn the brightness up and down manually while shooting. I try to stay off iAuto if I can, as you have less control with that mode! xxx

Jenniee G I don't actually use a mic, and I am in the top floor of my house so I think it's just a quiet environment really! As for the sharpness I think it's my 17mm lens! Xx

It might be worth investing in a lapel mic. I've been experimenting with a few different options and a separate mic does make a difference if you are shooting outdoors.
Hi! Thanks for the video and your womanly and Easy to understand perspective. I have a dslr and it can be cumbersome despite the awesome video it shoots, but I hate that the 50mm lens I have to put so far away in my room which I just don't have space for and I never can get my desired framing because of it! Your video, is why I bought this camera. I love it, especially the 45mm but still learning since I'm so used to having canons my whole life. Only thing is the 17mm I have (which is slightly used and I got at a great price) literally makes a ton of noise auto focusing while I'm talking in the video rendering it useless and then I need to resort to kit lens. It will even autofocus if I blink my eye or turn my head but my body is still in the same place. Does that happen to you? If so do you have any idea how to fix? Or do you think I have a faulty lens. TIA!!!
Kristen Henry King hmmm I'm not too sure but it sounds like your lens could be faulty! I've heard of it happening with the 17mm lens, especially with the notice (like a clicking) when it's trying to focus. They should be totally silent! Xx

Ciara is the camera good for shooting photos of moving objects such as pets or sports?
Anna Reidinger I'm afraid I actually don't know Anna, as I've never really tried it! I think it all depends on the lens you use, so if you can get the right lens then you should be fine! Xx
