I love how brutally honest these two are about their opinions, especially about how the whole churning out the "Not giving a fuck" thing is not the best thing for Mark.
👍For Drew, and you're a given, Mark. I'm looking forward to the changes you plan on making this year. Not that I've gotten bored. I've listen/watched more of your content than any other podcasts I'm subscribe to, and that's saying a lot. I think a lot of the reasoning behind that is because of Drew. He brings a lot of angst that I can relate to (procrastination from perfectionism, for instance). He's more relatable for me than you are, Mark. But I love the way you think, and the subjects you bring to your podcasts. Keep on keeping on. Happy New Year to you and your crew!
Hi Mark and Drew, good luck with your fucks of the year. I believe Drew is closer to where he wants to be compared to where he thinks he is given his strong self reflection and nuance. Mark, jumping in the dark and doing something new is very scary but I think its beautiful that you have a risk free change since you have a stong base with your books and this channel - growth and testing new waters is always an accomplishment in itself to just do it. Thanks Mark and Drew !!!
Zelda is such an addictive game series! I haven't gamed properly for 13 years since my 1st child came along. Nowadays, if I play games, I have the feeling that I have too much to do, to be sat wasting time on them. I switched gaming for learning instruments, and I'm happy to "waste" hours on that 😂 All the best to you guys!
Love what you guys are doing - your episodes always get me thinking in new ways! Here’s a thought: In a world that’s always pushing us to define who we are, how can we avoid feeling stuck or trapped by the identities we create for ourselves?
guys, it is very enjoyable and eye-opening to listen to your conversation. It takes courage and for that alone you deserve congratulations. To the days when bad comments will become normal and good comments will be 5 times better🥂
This pod couldnt of come at a better time for me. I'm a very proud non gamer as well, but I've been seriously thinking about getting a console. I admit the FOMO got to me. Funny Drew mentioned Zelda, because that was my jam back when I last played in the 80's. THANK YOU DREW for helping me avoid a huge time suck!!👊🏻 jeezus, I ALMOST caved in. 😅
This episode was great start to finish. Its easy to fall into being habits of being overly perfectionist or "controlling", I definitely do in my personal projects. Perhaps both are just letting go of things going exactly as planned. For me, I want to be more productive this year, but like Mark said I need to be concrete about this and not be vague. Perhaps that means utilizing the strategies discussed for developing better habits, such as removing triggers for bad habits (like binging youtube videos, games and texting apps,) and resolving underlying emotional issues, instead try to dedicate time towards things that will improve my future like reading, writing, taking classes and doing art. But yeah, similar to Mark I feel like yes, the study is accurate in the sense that feeling a sense of purpose is probably evolutionarily geared towards things that will benefit the longevity of the species, but also, maybe the definition is circular, and the feeling of purpose itself isn't really as important--because like he said, you can feel a sense of purpose doing highly unethical things. So I think the focus should be more on, what are you using that feeling of purpose to motivate you to do, objectively, and whether that is a good thing or not? Maybe? I dunno. But haha yeah the wisdom of the year thing at the end was perfect/hilarious. Thanks guys for the help in 2024 and look forward to seeing what you guys do in 2025.
Mark you hit it with the band thing! It’s time to write the next album and you might alienate your current fans while getting new fans…write it for yourself first…
looking forward to your new content mark, regardless of what it is (well unless its not like neo nazism) but im excited to see what you and your team got in mind!
"*Unless* its *not* neo nazism" Something seems a bit off about that sentence, haha. Unless - of course - you want to see more Nazism on this platform which is highly unlikely.
I'll probably set up similar NYGoals, also with a theme. They'll build up on the previous ones, specially because I missed the numeric goals, but very much was successful in the spirit of the goal in a way that wasn't as expected. Example, I also had a "lose weight"goal. I didn't lose as much weight as I wanted, but I got in way better shape that I probably would've had I been looking exclusively at weight. Ssssooo that's awesome for me =D

The not giving a fuck thing though still cracks me up so … I think it still has loads of mileage ha ha

Happy New Year, no Fucks given!
Structure is my theme for 2025. I'm excited to see what more structure can do for me in 2025.
same!! But I started the year off super sick 🤧 so I’m a bit delayed already.

Last week I listened again to your podcast on the same subject last year, so looking forward to this and the follow up in June!
I am looking forward to seeing what changes and improvements you make to your show and brand. Good Luck!

Great conversation about purpose

Always admired Mark. Everything is

I usually don't make NYE rezzes, but man did I EAT over the last two months, so the #fckottheyr for me is less sugar and a few daily situps.
Love the fact that Periphery opens this podcast :)

The goal of all knowledge is to have no knowledge at all😊

Please, write timestamps)
Are you going to do a "I NOW give a FuCK"? Happy 2025!
we like round numbers lol, thats what it is.
I'm worried now that you're gonna become a tiktoker or something 😂
Uncle Drew, uncle Mark, speaking of new directions - I enjoy the podcast greatly, but the newsletter is... meh?
Did Drew just disrespect AC/DC?
Playing it safe, staying in their comfort zone, ..... how about cranking out consistently great songs for 50 years?.
hahaha I was gonna say the same
You should work on overcoming delusional thinking in the new year.
