Now, the same pair of shoes are back in our shop, and they are in worse shape than before. In this restoration, we completely take apart this pair of John Lobbs and restore them completely.

Therein lies the difference between being basic repairmen and artisan craftsmen. I am now 74 and my father taught me to work with leather when I was 12. Though I am certainly not a cobbler, I understand some of the intricacies of your craft. The first video with these John Lobb shoes was excellent. But this video demonstrates that your skills have sharpened while giving us a much better picture of the high level of those skills. Hats off to you gents for you are truly some of the best there is. BTW, since subscribing to your channel, I have found many pairs of high quality shoes at thrifts shops which I refurbished for both myself and others using skills gathered from your channel. Thank you and please continue with the great content.

His determination to save those shoes, and clearly the money which he is spending to do so, should be matched with a little tender loving care on his end to ensure that such determination and money need not be spent in the first place!

The craftsmanship that went into this restoration is top notch and so respectful of the brand. I went back to watch the original video for these shoes and discovered that the owner had them re-soled to pass on to his son. Great video, this might be a unusual comment, but I am amazed at how steady your hands are. Doing all that fine work with the knives, needles and awls is to me, simply fantastic. If I tried something like that repair, my hands would look like they got stuck in a meat grinder. Great job looking forward to the next video

Haha…thanks! Like most things, you get used to it over time and it becomes easier. We definitely had our fair share of cuts in our earlier days.

Great work there! Yes, I was thinking, would it be about as quick and easy if he'd said, make me a whole new pair of shoes ☺

I was about to make the comment about them not being the same shoes, I won't now but I'd love to see a video where you actually did make a pair of shoes from scratch.

Awesome work! I am an attorney and have numerous pairs of dress shoes from John Lobb to Edward Green but I own more varieties of Cobblers union. Btw. Looking for an apprentice?

GENTLEMEN: The craftsmanship and knowledge that goes into a restoration like this is amazing.
I wish I possessed the skills it takes to accomplish something as detailed as this job was. I’m certain you get a tremendous amount of satisfaction after you finish.
    You did a beautiful job.
I do have a question: At what point does it become prohibitive to do such a repair like this?
Obviously these are expensive shoes (you’re not going to do this to a pair of Walmart dress shoes) but the type of repair/restoration you did here can’t be cheap.
    What’s the cutoff point?
    The point of no return?
    Thanks- again AMAZING JOB!
