Spent the past few days doing our stairs/hallway and really happy with it. Never done any panelling before so tackling crazy angles/curves was a bit daunting! Your video was fab and helped so much. Thanks for sharing 😊
Guys I'm seriously impressed with your methodology. I will start mine in the next day or 2 following your instructions. What I'd like to know though and you haven't shown it is hot to cut the acute angles. where the angle cut is greater than 45 dgr.
Great tutorial. I'm glad I came across your video. I can't believe you made d.iy look like so much friggy fun 😅😅😅. The chalk line thing was a great idea, I've never seen that before. Nice job, and many thanks 😊
Great video guys ... with my hallway wall its would start at the front door and leads all the way up the stairs finishing at the bathroom door. When working out the number of panels would it be best to take the complete measurement or can i break it down into sections? ie door to bottom of the stairs, bottom of stairs to top etc. I would obviously like it all to look uniform so your expertise would be appreciated.
Thank you for cutting out all of the jargon almost convinced myself I can do some of these jobs now. How achievable would swapping stair rails etc from 60/70’s vertical style to traditional spindles etc??
One suggestion I would make. When cutting your mitres with many the same size it’s much easier to set up a stop block away from your blade and this ensures they are all the same size and it’s much quicker.
Hi, great video, very helpful. im using a friends nail gun to save money, i will need to buy the pins, though. What size would you say i should use for the dado rail and the rhin panels? Appreciate the help.
Thank you, great video, helped alot! A quick question. I have a landing that is a 90 deg corner and from there the stairs goes up at a different angle. How do I make the trim join perfectly at that corner. tia
No it wasn't, you need to make a jig at a 45 degree angle, that needs clamping to your mitre saw, because most saws only cut between 45 and 90.@@fudgeon83
Great tips guys. I when it’s on 22.29 how did you get the the flat section in the top point of the panel, I’ve recently done some and struggled to get cuts my chop saw it maxes out at 60 degrees. Cheers lads
Great video, best I seen so far. Bit of advise..my wall in some places is slightly bumpy, uneven plaster work, would panelling still work ..how would you tackle this issue? Thank you Ps: i am diy ..what saw size would you recommend for this work.Thx
Thank you so much for this video!!!! Quick question (and perhaps a stupid one). When you apply the panels vertically up the stairs, should every single one be the same length? My calculations are suggesting that the panels will increase in length as they go up the stairs, but I can't work out why. Any advice pls?
No stupid questions 😁 so if measured horizontally level they should be the same they won’t measure the same when measured at the angle of the staircase . Hope that helps 😊
MY drywall has all kinds of texture , poping nails and seam lines. Im not sure doing this wainscoting will look good over a non smooth surface. Any suggestions? Floating drywall, apply wallpaper first, ?
When you said "make sure it's pressed in", you pressed it in and it moved... genuine question, if only using 4 pins, how do you go about getting the profiles properly flat against the wall?
Great video chaps! Silly question incoming - if there is approx a 10mmdifference across between where the top / bottom of the panels will be over the space of a wall (2m) because it's an old / uneven house, do I need to do anything different to account for this? I'd be looking to do 2x panels with the same gaps as you've done. Will this much of a difference matter?
How do I do the stair calculation if I have ready made panel kits that are pre-cut to 45 degrees, can I just saw the correct angle and make them slightly smaller?
@@homeimprovements I bought these pre cut panelling kits from b&q mate and they’re designed for a flat wall… would I be able to use them for the staircase too ?
Did your nail gun nails go into a brick wall, if so what is the nail gun and type of nails, thanks M / Your Videos are more entertaining than other people's channels
Hi, first of all your video has allowed me to attempt panelling my whole hallway all the way to the loft! But I need some help - what if the angle is 42 and the calculation answer is 69?!?
thanks for the video, the wife wants this now...the only bit i may do differently is under the window ledge, rather than have it meet the underside i'd probably have the 100mm gap...not sure though until I see it, might look odd
Great video - thanks! A quick question, if you can't use pins to hold in the panels because it's soft brick for example, what can you do instead? Would it work to use more sh*t glue with i.e. masking tape to protect the wall from the excess that squeezes out?
One side of our hallway has a couple of doors so some of the walls in between the doors are not very wide so using the same spacing as the opposite wall would look really odd as we would have one of the panels extremely thin. Might look odd to leave them out as it wouldn’t flow up the stairs
It’s all well and good but I can tell this is probably your first time doing this. You need to learn how to size the boxes. The end result would look so much better!
@@linds_reads_stuff Yes, you’re correct. You find the smallest wall in the room first, this will give you the relative size. Wall sections that will have multiple panels should be broken into odd numbers of panels. Three or five panels will have a more elegant appearance than two or four, for the same given wall section.
You've marked the distance for the stairs very different to how i've read it should be done. You've done perpendicular from the skirting to the dado, i've seen and read that it should still be vertical so the distance isn't 100mm it's closer to 80mm depending on the angle. So confusing that there are different ways of doing it.
This is the best guide for panelling on TH-cam - Thanks so much!!!
Glad you think so!
Great video, you explain everything in detail and easy to understand!
I love it how you did the divide gap, that's thats most important thing

Yes I was thinking the same specially with the chalk line the way you make it Ping 😂 it’s like pulling on some nipples

Love this video! Great tips!
Love this , would you come do this on my hall stairs and landing please😂👍😍
spot on lads, nice job.....👍👌👌👌👌
Nice one 😁💪🏼
your acting skills are great too :D

Best tutorial on YT. Would you recommend a specific paint covering both walls and mouldings or would wall paint suffice?
Thanks just wall paint on ours no issues 😊
Great easy to follow tutorial!! Thank you so much!
Thanks 😁😁
Hi great job and great video. What glue do you use to stick the corners of the picture frames together?
Ctec super fast 😊
Looking to do this myself in my home. Can this be done if your stairs have a hand rail?
Yes, absolutely
It's not covered in this video but I think a video on how to cut the mitres on the mouldings would help a lot.
I’m confused, it was in the video 🤷🏻♀️
No it wasn't, you need to make a jig at a 45 degree angle, that needs clamping to your mitre saw, because most saws only cut between 45 and 90.@@fudgeon83
how did you get on im struggling with that right now cant cut the acute angles on the mitre saw
@@Vivoz389 search 'cut acute angles on mitre saw' and you will see how it's done

You cut a scrap at 45 clamp that to your saw you then have a starting point of 45 degrees hope that helps 😊
Hey guys, could you do a video on vertical wooden wall slats sometime, as in feature wall, thanks
Great video, best I seen so far. Bit of advise..my wall in some places is slightly bumpy, uneven plaster work, would panelling still work ..how would you tackle this issue? Thank you

Thanks Anna and caulk the gaps after your done 😊 a small mitre saw will be fine don’t need anything big 😁
What would you suggest if there is a radiator on the wall where you want your panelling?
What size pins would you use if pinning 15mm thick beading to a brick and plaster wall ?
Hi, i have a large curved section at the top of the stairs.... can you give any more advice or help with tackling the curve?
If we get a chance we will 😁

Any advice for obstacles such as radiators please?
I tuck as far behind as I can or frame it into a panel 😊
MY drywall has all kinds of texture , poping nails and seam lines. Im not sure doing this wainscoting will look good over a non smooth surface. Any suggestions? Floating drywall, apply wallpaper first, ?
Dividing lengths into even marks is wayyy easier with metric
When you said "make sure it's pressed in", you pressed it in and it moved... genuine question, if only using 4 pins, how do you go about getting the profiles properly flat against the wall?
The grab adhesive does 99% of the work the pins are mainly to stop it sliding 😊
Brilliant video.👍🏻
What is the name of the glue what you are using to assemble the moulding please? Thanks 😊
Can you please do a video showing how to bend gripper metal around a vinyl entry way?
Will try 😊👍🏼

Chalk it out chances are it won’t be visible to the eye 😊😊😊
@@homeimprovements Nice one, appreciate it! :)
Is the size of the box irrelevant? Main thing is maintaining same space around box and between box on every wall and going up the stairs also?
That’s it 😁
How do I do the stair calculation if I have ready made panel kits that are pre-cut to 45 degrees, can I just saw the correct angle and make them slightly smaller?

What is the appropriate height for the baguette above the Panels?
What height was your dado rail also please??
900-1000mm normally 😊

Thanks 😊 and Yh it’s all personal preference another reason it’s great to chalk the design first 😁👌🏼
How would you go about doing an external corner that then goes up the stairs? This is really stumping me 😅
Yep compound mitres are hard 🙈🙈
Great video - thanks! A quick question, if you can't use pins to hold in the panels because it's soft brick for example, what can you do instead? Would it work to use more sh*t glue with i.e. masking tape to protect the wall from the excess that squeezes out?
Could work these walls are brick and will take a panel pin until the glue sets then remove it 😁👌🏼
Is there a profile name for the beading used for panels please
Ogee 😊
Thank you
How do you do measure a whole passage and stair case
What size pins did you use?

Yh you can adjust as you see fit to get what looks best for your space 😁 that’s why it’s always best to chalk it out first
Hi, what is the name of the material your using ??
Mdf ?
How long would a project like this usually take you guys to complete 👍
A day to get that done longer when we are filming tho 🙈
Legendary champions
No mention of how to cut the acute angles on the mitre saw
I did a separate reel after as we did miss it 😊
Surely if your coming 100mm of the dado and skirting which ain't level the measurements aint gonna be all the same
My angle is 46 degrees so minus 180 divided by 2 is 67 degrees how do I cut this?
We have a short show how to create a jig for those cuts 😊

We’ve since updated our audio it was an issue with the mics thanks for the heads up tho 😊😊
no sound
