  • Ernie Vigil and Nick Apex take a pair of Triumph Rocket 3's to the Las Vegas Drag Strip to get a stock baseline of exactly what these bikes can do in a heads up drag race. 5000cc's of pavement pounding good times meet head to head on a desolate Covid night in Sin City!

    These bikes run mid 10s. Great video. 👍 I ran 11.4 on my Buell XB12R. 😁

    I feel better about my color choice now......I bought a black GT, although I still don't know how fast the silver one would be......

      @Evans Joe They are the same; in the video the guy said "red was the faster color", so he thought he'd win. But the black one won, so black must be the faster color. Just having fun. The GT version (like mine) also comes in a silver, which I wanted initially; but the dealer had a black one, so that's what I got!

      @Evans Joe Hard to tell you about it's performance, depends on what you're used to. If you've been riding a Harley bagger for years, then you'll be pretty impressed with the Rocket's acceleration and handling. If you've been riding a sport bike or even a sport tourer, then it probably won't be that impressive. But for a 700 lb machine to be as fast and nimble as it is, I'm pretty impressed. I had a 2011 Rocket for 9 years before buying this 2020, and I really feel the improvement in handling from the 88 lb lighter weight. I don't really feel that much uptick in power, though. It's plenty fast, I've only had it to 125 mph, which feels pretty fast on that heavy of a bike. There was more throttle to go, though, even at that point.

    I own a 2011 rocket 3 . Stock they are garden variety tractor’s. HEAVY ! Sooooo add a couple cubic inches slap a evinrude supercharger on it….shed a couple hundred pounds! Now I pass the lights in the 8’s Here kitty kitty

    Wow!!. I'll buy one in Spain next June. I readed that a famous Quarter mile racer makes 10.4 seconds adjusting tire pressure and fork compression.
    It's a Torque monster.

      11.2 was the fastest ET of the night given the air density. A 10 second quarter is in it though with some more seat time and setup

      I recently watched a 67 year old man run a string of 10.90s on his self built pump gas Harley. An old 45 degree air cooled bagger. He would have ate you guys lunch.

    Holding redline like that is a waste especially when the bike achieves its maximum power and torque at lower rpm’s. Can improve your times by shifting a little earlier.

    The ZX-12R posted a 1/4 time of 9.87. The Hayabusa posted 9.70. I'd say the Rocket has a ways to go.

      Carpenter Racing stage 3 will put them in the 270hp range and mid 8s

    • @rasmusf5615
      @rasmusf5615 ปีที่แล้ว

      one major diffrence is that the zx12r and the hayabusa are "Supersport/Supertouring bikes" that still weight about 100 kg less then the rocket.

    My brothers brand new stock Suzuki GSX1100E ran flat 12's with 95 HP and a skinny rear tyre back in 1982. Those things should be doing flat 9's at least. Somethings not right!
