Because the discharge pressure is too high thats why we put PSV in reciprocating pump

Head pressure is more to the reciprocating pump so line can rupture

During the selection of the pump we have to see three factor based on this three factors pump is selected
1) Flow rate
2) Head
3) Fluid properties

Because The Centifugal pump is self relief the pressure that reason can t use in PSV in centifugal pump.
