Marvelous debut episode! Some of my favorite Marx Brothers Council podcasts are the ones where you are their guest, so I greatly look forward to your future entries on Bud and Lou!
I assume you have a basic script or outline, but your delivery is so natural that it seems like you are telling their story off the top of your head without any notes.
@@MarkArnoldComicsHistorian hey bud. I watch the films and make notes, and I only use the Notes to remind me of the order. It’s funny you brought this up because I was thinking of doing another podcast where I do just talk extemporaneously about classic films. Thanks for listening, by the way.
While the NAUGHTY NINETIES version of “Who’s On First” may be the best, I’m grateful that we have so many to choose from. Each one contains unique exchanges that are absolute gems. For example, the “SAME AS YOU!” outburst in the “Naturally” section of the “Retired Actor’s Home” version always kills me.
I was laughing hysterically because I’m the “troglodyte” that was upset with you! 🤣🤣 but seriously it wasn’t the fact that you liked the Colgate comedy hour more it was the way you put down the sitcom. Most people find the sitcom to be amazing. Jerry Seinfeld based his TV show on the premise. And the sitcom is credited with saving all the burlesque routines in one place that would’ve been lost in antiquity. But yes you have a right to your opinion and I did overreact. So for that I apologize. And I will be finally reading your book. This was a great podcast by the way.
Hi Paul. I'm sorry I called you a troglodyte. I was so happy to have my first book published and your remark was the only negative. So, I was emotional and I'm sorry. You are entitled to your opinion, as well. I don't agree about the burlesque routines being preserved in the TV show because the films feature them all, and usually in better condition. Jerry Seinfeld was inspired by the show because it had no moral at the end and nobody learned anything. I like that, too. But I do prefer to see them live (where they also preserved those sketches). Anyway...enjoy the podcast. There are now 19 episodes and they are for us fans. Happy New Year, Paul and thanks for getting in touch.
@@Nsm555 yes I do understand what you’re saying more now about watching them live. And even though I enjoy the whole concept of the TV show I am starting to like the Colgate comedy hour episodes so much more. And don’t be sorry about calling me a troglodyte. I was acting like one. And I just played it for my 31 year old daughter what you said, and she’s laughing hysterically. 🤣🤣 she knows how stubborn and how I can go on and on. So again for that I apologize. The work you guys put into that book is absolutely amazing. So please again accept my apology.
@@PaulDA2000 Your attitude is impressive and I happily accept your apology. Thank you. I was also overreacting due to my being so excited about the book coming out. Lets forget it. We are both fans of "the boys" and we should work towards getting them out there and appreciated. Thanks again!
@@Nsm555 oh this might make you laugh also cause you said my English was horrendous I have a bad habit of using voice text and a lot of times I don’t edit. 🤣🤣 I’m trying to correct that.
Good first Podcast I’m delighted we now have a good A&C Podcast here on You Tube.
Great first episode. Love the enthusiasm for the Boys.
Thanks so much. :)
Bud slapping Helen Hayes is hilarious! That's coming from a published playwright and a major A and C fan!
Thanks! check out the rest. It gets better. ;)
According to Wikipedia: "In 1999, Time named the Who's On First? routine Best Comedy Sketch of the 20th Century."
Abbott and Costello meet Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde! Next Saturday on Svengoolie!
Grazie!!

Thank you, Ben. Very kind. Much more to come.
This is great. I just 3:01 bought the book about Abbott and Costello's films. I look forward to reading it.
Thank you so much. Enjoy the book!
Funny, with Abbott and Costello, I watch Abbott. With Laurel & Hardy, I watch Hardy. With The Three Stooges, I watch Larry. I guess I'm a contrarian.
I’m about halfway through your book (The Noose Hangs High). It’s a terrific read. Thanks.
Thank you so much!!

My favorite version of Who's On First? is the 4:31 one contained on the Listener's Choice: The Best of Abbott and Costello CD.
Loved it! Can’t wait for the next one!
excellent listen, long overdue

Yes I know. I corrected it in an earlier post.
