My dad told me about Anthony Carter, seen your highlights. GO BLUE. I hope that the Wolverines use Edward's quite a bit at receiver.

Holy Shit!! I remember being in the "Big House" in October of 1979 for the Indiana game. I got to see the "Play of the Century" happen live. The game winning pass from John Wangler to Anthony Carter to come from behind and win the game with only 6 seconds left on the clock.

100% correct. John, took a beating, but bounced back, played hurt and the average person didn't even know the players would play hurt. We didn't have social media back then so it was different. Five of my siblings including my dad went to Michigan. Grew up in the thumb area surrounded by MSU people. It was all good, though.

For a Freshman to tell the QB to throw him the ball speaks to Anthony's ability and confidence level. John was a great QB.

So I gotta brag a little. I was at the 1982 Purdue game that was the last home game for AC, Ali-Haji Shiek, and Lawrence Ricks. It was my first ever Michigan game at Michigan stadium (it wasn't called the Big House yet). It seemed like AC was torching the Purdue defense for 60 yard bombs every quarter. And Ricks ran for almost 200 yards. There was a kid from Forest Hills Northern that I played against in H.S. that was All State in three sports by the name of Kerry Smith that was a backup tailback on that team who scored a TD. He also played great in the Rose Bowl. But AC was electric! I was near the North endzone and when Michigan had plays down there the Purdue DB's were hitting him so hard when he would run across the end zone as a decoy. But he never let it bother him. Just bounced off them and kept playing. Great memories from an era 70's/80's that is gone for good. But it was my favorite football era and the players, especially the skill players, are legends.

2 of my all-time favorite wolverines, John Winging Wangler and Anthony A.C. Carter the human torpedo. In 1979 we were celebrating 100 years of Meechigan football, our family had season seats and I was sitting in sec. 18 row 81 seats 38 and 39 when we witnessed the single greatest play ever! Go Blue!!!

Jake, thank you for bringing us these two Michigan legendary players. I remember listening to the Indiana play on the radio like it was yesterday. AC will always be my favorite wolverine. Love Charles too but you felt like AC could score on every play he touched the ball. Denard had a lot of that too. Go Blue!

Share this with AC!! myself and 3 of my brothers started buying student tickets back in the early 70's. We finally got season tickets in the mid 70's. We were now at our final seats for the next 25 years in the end zone where AC scored that TD.
Well we were at the opener AC's 1st year if and we always got there early to see the players warmup. AC was catching punts and my brother Pat said " hey look at that skinny guy with the long white socks, he looks like a deer with those skinny legs". If I remember AC ran a punt back for a TD and we knew this guy was special!! We used to yell from row 85 in section 9 when we saw single coverage! "Single coverage on AC". If the ball was thrown boom we had a big gainer. Yes AC is such a very special person and we watched him on TV in the USFL and every time in the NFL. TY to all of those classy people like Wangler mentioned for being such Great Michigan Men!! Better people that players and that my friend is saying something!!!!!

I, too, remember Anthony's legs looking like the legs of a deer; fast, like he was bounding in the air. Both of these guys are just so humble, giving credit to their teammates. It's no wonder the team did so well. I was a student in the late 70's - early 80's and every football Saturday was like Christmas. The band, the excitement in the air, the team running out of the tunnel touching the banner, having only about 5 inches to sit, being squished together with your fellow friends and fans and throwing toilet paper in the air when we scored a touchdown. That was a blast. Just special memories that will last a lifetime.

I was going to say that these guys practiced so much out there before the Rose Bowl that they had to have been exhausted even before the game even started.

Michigan hasn't had a more dangerous receiver since AC . That's a fact to me. And I saw Nico Collins, Braylon Edwards, Alexander, Jehu Chesson , DPJ , none had the speed and hands and uncanny ability to do what AC could do . He was mind boggling fast .

Back then Butch Woolfolk was the fastest player ever at Michigan...for one year. And Anthony Carter came the next year and HE was the fastest player ever at Michigan. In fact, the very first time AC touched the ball was on a punt return and he went 70 yards for a TD. For me he is the best player ever to put on a Michigan uniform. Sorry Charles, but AC was AA three years in a row on a team that didn't throw very much.

Johnny Wangler was just as important as AC in Mich football history.
Bo's first QB - who was an effective passer.
We needed BOTH guys to finally breakthrough at the damn Rose Bowl by not being so one dimensional on offense with the option game
Mich football when to a new level with these two guys on the field - suddenly - defenses had to play honest and ALSO guard against a dangerous air game as well
AC was absolutely the best WR ever at MICH - and we have had a ton of em. Electrifying and tough & strong as nails
    GO BLUE
DESTROY WASHINGTON - like these two guys did in 1981 Rose Bowl

Urban Meyer is the disrespectful one.....even when he coached Utah he called BYU the team down south.
No one out here has any respect for him.
