Well I’ll be damned. My AC went out on my 2010 ford fusion SE, saw the quote for $875 dollars to replace the evap sensor and I said hell no. Very happy to have stumbled upon this video. I will be ordering my sensor and trying this out next weekend!
Thank you for this video! My wife and I did this last night no way my hands were gonna squeeze in there. We have a 2010 fusion that had intermittent ac issues this did the trick Instant cold air 🙏 . I would suggest using a multi tool to cut the first tab and back panel to prevent sharp edges and cutting yourself when squeezing your hands in there. Stick your phone in and take pictures of the sensor as reference points cause your doing this pretty blindly also to make sure the sensor is properly seated afterwards my wife made it look easy.
thanks for your video my wife and i changed this sensor on a 2012 ford fusion. we used a mirror, lights, camera inside to see the sensor in position so we could unlock it. It wasn't an easy job, but it was possible and now it works.
That little plastic cable thingy you cut is a hold down strap for the vents and housing. Under the dash by steering column you will see the bolt that holds that strap. Its there so when your airbags deploy the vents and housing dont rip the plastic through those 10mm bolts you removed and fly out and hit you in the face
Thank you so much, saved $900 in labor for a $33 part. Wife wasn't thrilled about putting hole in car, but when she realized how much I saved and that she can't see it, she quickly got over it 😂😂
This method works. I've already had my sensor swapped out three times and now I'm about to do it again. Twice by the dealership. Once by this method, and now the fracken sensor is already bad. The good news is I have an easy access port that I already made. It's not the easiest job to get to the sensor out and in, but it works. You just have to be patient. As others may have mentioned, using mirrors or a camera can help. I used a picture to help assist me since I couldn't see down in the cavity. I do agree with the comments that you'll never see what's underneath the dash. If you plan on keeping the car, who cares.
This is awesome. Thank you. I think this is what is going on with my wife’s car. You know Ford could have just put an access panel right there, but that wouldn’t let them charge you an arm and a leg to pull the dash.
ive done this the hard way and it took me all day to take it apart and put it somewhat back together. Just do it like the video. you'll need to replace that sensor in an old car at least once every 3-4 years. Esp here in Florida where the dash gets super hot.
Just get a little 30k ohm resister and jump the wires to the sensor behind the glove compartment. This tricks the system into thinking the temp is high and the AC kicks on. Be careful though, your AC will freeze up. Just gotta watch it. Run outside air every so often if traveling more than 30 mins.
The resistor is a good hack i put it on 2 yrs ago and still works! It does start to freeze up ( the air will stop blowing as hard) so i turn a/c off til air starts blowing normal again then i switch it back on. It may be a hack but it is nice to have A/C again. I am still gonna try this video here sometime soon though.
Hey can you help me to figure out exactly what you mean by jumk the wires, etc. Im pretty well clueless, but handy. And my friend did some kind of wire jump under the hood fuse box but tell me not to leave that on there, but it seems like what you're talkin about here maybe a little safer than what he did
I saw a video about this and they said wires 3 and 4 (I have a 2006 Ford fusion se), but I have no wire in 4. So I'm thinking 13 and 15. Which ones were yours?
So did this fix the issue of a compressor not kicking on? I’ve got a car that I’ve replaced high side sensor ac compressor checked all wiring all fuses and relays are good but the compressor still won’t kick on but I can kick it on by jumping the relay and thats it
From the research I've done these are common to go out on Ford/Merc/Lincoln and it's just buried in the dash. I've scanned mine and this is the faulty part just annoying to replace.
People it says short cut, if you want to spend 12 hours taking the dashboard apart and breaking other stuff along the way then go right ahead, it never goes back together the same, great short cut, you can use aluminum tape to patch the hole it works great,
L those videos I've seen on this basically just a all-around switch it. But it seems like it's going to be a little bit more complicated since you can't really reach in there. What specifically do i do? Twist left and pull down???

Any luck with this fix?

Awesome! I’m glad my video was able to help you and your wife ✌️
I love how people worried about s*** you will never see. nice video man thanks for making my life a lot easier
Exactly! They’re free to do it the hard way lol…and thanks!

thank you for the information
Can you show a location picture of it

🤣🤣 same with my customers when I tell them about putting a hole or doing it the hard way which is about $500 more in labor.

Fords are lowkey the worst vehicles for (lack of) serviceability..

Bro you are the only person i found that explains the wires thats holding it on 0:45. Thank you bro i appreciate you.
Worked great. It did take some time to get hand right to twist out old sensor. Thanks
Sweet, glad it helped!
My absolute hero.
Yep, I'm doing this. I'll cut things out of the way neatly, though, and JB weld things back in place
Awesome!

Nice I will have to look into that I was thinking about Jumping the AC compressor relay and running a switch into the car.

I tried that it did not work, i just pulled the dash took 4 hours to complete.

When I lift the rubber thingy out of the tray my car does not have the 10mm bolts to remove the tray…any suggestions?? Thanks
i get it man, i know what its like when you don't have tools to do the job but holy cow
You do a real hack job there.

Exaaaaaaactly!
How the heck did you the senor out lol I’m stuck at that part.. got hand in there and bam can’t get it to budge.. any tips?
Very smart way to do it save time and effort, thank you very informative video
Thank you’

Does your rattle a lot now, or no difference?
No difference at all
Gracias brother 🎉
👊
I made the hole and didn't feel the sensor or anything at all
I don't give a f what anybody says, that's the to do it
yes sir!
Could some put a mic/ tracker in there?
I see a lot of broken pieces, I don't feel comfortable with your procedures.
Understandable, you can always do it the right way…which requires taking the whole dash apart.
Pay $1,000 to dealership will be very happy.😂😂😂😂😂😂
people can be doing s*** like that to customers cars common sense
Guy must work at one of those buy here pay here ez credit car lots.
Hey scoot off, this video has helped plenty of people and I made their life easier. What have you done to contribute to this world?
