Alright so all 5 drains checked and both the driver side under the clam, and the driver side frunk by the battery were completely clogged. Thanks so much for making this one dude. 👊💸
Thank you . Had been hearing something sloshing around behind me after it had rained for some time. Right side was good . Left side had a puddle. Put my little finger down where I thought the hole should be and out everything flowed. Then flushed out as you showed . Brilliant !! job done in 15 mins .
My 2000 S was sat for a while with damp carpets. Managed to dry them pretty thoroughly and found that under the seats wasn’t drying so well. I wondered if this was the problem and from what you’ve said, it does make perfect sense. Just ordered that same trombone cleaner to see if it works! Thanks for the tips and advice. I learned this lesson the hard way with my first Boxster. E.C.U. got flooded, car would not start. Watched countless videos of "how to" fix and ended up D. I. Y. and saved myself $1,000's of $$. I haven't had a problem since buying a tuba brush and to give credit where it is due, this idea was shared on another Porsche site I belong to. Nicely done and thanks for sharing the "fifth drain hole" I did not know about it.
Great videos. I discovered a couple more in the trunk that drain water from around the rear spoiler. Rather than a standard hose, they are more of a bellows style. Both of mine were disconnected. One could easily be reconnected but the other had deteriorated too much so there wasn't enough rubber left to hold it in the drain hole.
HI I have an 03 boxster. i cleaned the drains next to the roof, the front drains also. I live in oregon where it rains a lot! i had to replace the alarm module $1,200.00. Had it back for a month now and the floor is all wet again. Is there any other drains that might be causing this problem? Thanks

Thank you - my Porsche flooded and panel where the roof goes down started operating independently while roof still locked shut ! Very expensive repair bill expected. Wish I'd seen this video before but never knew this could happen. Had drains at rear replaced not long ago so that's being checked. IN UK key electrics under passenger seat on left, mine were completely flooded as once water gets in cabin theres nowhere for it to go.
2 more drains at the front end of the channel where the convertible top hinged panel slides back and forth. I use thick trimmer line to clear them - much cheaper than trombone cleaners! Thanks for the video too.
Nicely explained and super clear video. I use a net curtain wire to clear the drains. If I remember right I think that there is another drain under the battery tray. Its a while since I cleaned them out. There are two more small drains not identified in the workshop manual at the rear under the clamshell next to the clamshell plastic adjusment blocks. My car had been standing out unused for about 6 years under trees and the drains were badly blocked. The carpets and sponge under were sodden on the driver side only (rhd car) luckily the acu was dry but took me weeks to dry the carpet out.
Hey Aaron I did get locked out of my hood and before took off the inner wheel well panel to pull the wire but it’s easier to pull two screws that surround the fuse box in the foot well and pull the cable I guess people need to know that too it was a lot faster

Hi! You’re awesome! You’ve helped me to bring back my beloved Boxster! Some brilliant person did push down one of the grommets to drain in front trunk, drivers side. Can you tell us how to get that out? I’ve tried almost everything
That is not service position. You can fold back plastic window as well when you unclip 2 plastic clamps holding fabric in back an 2 metallic ball joints on sides as well. You get way better access to everything there. Other way great video, keep it coming! Cheers
Great video! I went through the flooding/replacement of the module nightmare when I first bought my Boxster. The mechanic schooled me on keeping the tubes clean. I put the module in the waterproof cover that is mentioned in the comments, but every time the car gets wet, so does the carpet under the drivers seat. The tube is clear of any debris. I keep the car in a garage and never drive in the rain, which is not very handy. So, I have pulled the left wheel and removed the plastic inner fender cover, exposing the plastic drain tube to get a good look. There must be a leak where the plastic tube connects to the metal body, but I am reluctant to pull on the tube from the outside to check the connection for fear of breaking it, or not being able to get it back together with sealant on it. Any suggestions?
I wish there was a way to prevent water from dripping in when it rains, when I barely open the window. If it was a hardtop, I'd get those weathertech shields, but with a rag top, I guess the only fix is to not have the window open at all. :)
My Boxster currently has a puddle in the drivers side footwell everytime it rains. Both front drain pipes have been pushed in. Any ideas how i get them out to clean and refit?
@HelpMeDIY Thanks! Forums seems to suggest removing the wheel arches, removing the pipe and refitting with a new grommet. Now need to find the grommets! Thanks for the reply and the helpful video!
I personally do NOT like pushing anything down those drain holes. I'm concerned about pushing the hose OFF of the connector if I encounter a clog. I use a shop vac with a tube taped to the crevice tool and vacuum the dirt out of the drain. If anything, clean up with a string trimmer line.
any issue with the strainer inserts rattling loose or interfering with the roof pushrod mechanism? Wondering why Porsche wouldn't install these as standard, yet provide it as an official part.
I am currently cleaning mine. I noticed something odd though. In the front there is what appears to be another drain. Facing the car, there are the drains on either side of the battery (that you showed), but on the right side of the car (US passenger side) there appears to be another one. If you start at the drain near the battery on that side, then move forward until you reach the wall, and then move right (outboard), you will come to another one. I don't know if it's a drain or not, but it looks exactly like the others. I'll come back when I've checked it out.
@@HelpMeDIY What I have found is that there are two drains on either side of the battery. Go forward and outboard from the ones you showed and you should find them. So there are seven drains, counting the fuel filler drain. When I ran the trombone cleaner through my drains I can tell when it has gone through all the way, but it doesn't come out under the car in any of them! The drain tubes don't come all the way through on my car. I don't know if that's a problem, but all of the water I poured into them came out underneath. Well, at least the rear ones. They drain out right where expected, so putting a bowl to catch that water is easy. The front ones, on the other hand, seem to end above some other structural bits underneath, and the water falls on top of a kind of skid plate and then where it comes out depends on where the car is parked. All four of them drained out of that in the same place, on the lower side of the car (parked on a slight slope that made the water go toward the driver's side.

@@HelpMeDIY Its anticipated water will get in, the seals are there for wind, not really water, that's why there is a membrane in the door to allow water to run down and clear of the electrical components. Water should then run out the bottom of the door?
@@HelpMeDIY th-cam.com/video/zZj2lLVwzL8/w-d-xo.html hey, I needed to do this job, I'm terrible at creating content but thought I'd share if you wanted to do a proper job
@@HelpMeDIY Totally agree with the keeping up with the established holes, but I refer to foreseeable events, for instance one could unforgivably leave a window open or even slightly open, additionally, the actual drain spots might be seriously challenged under continuous periods of pouring, even for days. Manufactures simply comply with providing a basic solution for perfect scenarios, outside of that, they look forward to rip the benefits of every owner's mistakes. I'm talking about very costly damages here. Now the dime size circular hole I am considering would be joined by a L type pipe extending along the outside of the floorboard. Only issue I would study is the kinds of physics law to help prevent water from coming in, in case one drive through a flooded road. I had a recent experience with flooding in mine and perhaps scaped damaging the ECU because of the immediate response. I am currently not sure how it happened exactly although I found some substantially obstructed drain spots. I have not yet properly inspected the driver's door for potential leak spots as I noticed the fabric in the bottom of the driver's door panel badly soaked and wet and likely the way water went inside and into the floor. So I will invite you to explore this facts also, as you are more capable to create the mechanism. It would make up for an interesting video episode.

Now I need to pee, Thanks
+Chris BRITT 😂
Yea putting that box at the lowest point was dumb af. I was able to dry mine out and clean with rubbing alcohol.
+@DiscDoctor 👍🍻
On left side on English car
+@moby1248 yes, but this is a German car 😝
Nice job, but not just rain whenever you wash your car water will make its way there.
+Jim Schmidt yes, of course :).
Uk left seat.
+@gotoylc don’t know what you’re trying to say here 🤷♂️
Actually there is 2 more on the front
Why not create a drain spot where the water would do damage if the actual drain spots fails to contain the water from getting to that dangerous spot.
+Mauricio Baez drill a hole in the floorboard? I guess you could. I’d rather just check the drains once a year personally.
@@mauriciobaez3645 now there is an existing product that encapsulates the module, making it waterproof. I would just go that route if you are concerned
Service position! Why don't we call it the "missionary position."
+Randy Fleet I can’t answer that 😝
