i sort of retired with 8 chars on nexus server when level cap was still 65..on average my chars are lvl 50-60 i was mainly engineer/chanter with crappy gear...I couldn't find anyone to join with for anything so i couldn't progress basically, I used to love this game a lot....and btw great guide for choosing your class Sywo

I log onto my sorc and spiritmaster and I have no idea what I'm doing now. Getting reacquainted with the game through the bard is a good idea.
magic boost has cap on some bosses but crit spell does not. After 5.0 leveling knowledge gives you a lot more crit spell. I've seen pure crit spell builds on cloth classes - and they perform extremely well in terms of PvE dps. Outperforming the classic MB / MA builds on the same gear and class. This almost certainly puts all three cloth classes higher on the dps meter ;)
I don't know how things are going on EU. But NA servers has seen huge rise in Bard popularity over the past year and a half. Early strategy of Adma's Fall run on NA servers almost certainly required 1-2 Bards in the group. Bards are long ranged magic dps support class - making it great combination between sorc and chanter *BUT* with *excellent* kiting abilities being able to almost *constantly* run, kite and dps their target from distance - giving Bards good advantage against all melee classes. Out of all three magic classes Bards naturally have the *highest* HP - with geared bards totaling well over 20k HP (without any HP socketing of course, this is also possible with lvl65 gear) This makes them excellent DPS, but far less squishier than sorc or sm. Adding to this their healing skills... being able to heal back over 50% of their HP almost instantly - Bards can be a veery hard to kill targets unless ganged by several enemies at once. Unlike the other two cloth classes Bards greatly benefit from Atk Speed buffs - which allows them to rain down a ton of skills in a short amount of time easily burying debuffs such as silence / blind / slow / root on their targets while kiting from safe distance. Bards are the *only* class in the game being able to heal MP (including instant Mana Heal, DoT Mana Heal and group Mana Heal!). They are also the *only* other class after SpiritMaster being able to dispell buffs on bosses, while also boosting the groups atk / magic atk / and magical accuracy by simply dps-ing on the boss adding to this the Bard's skill equivalent to the Chanter's WoW - makes them a vital asset to any PvE or PvP group ;)

I've been playing The Old republic for about 4 years now and bored. I only really bother with PVP so hoping the waiting times are not so bad on Aion. Only got my account back from NCSoft so looking forward to getting back into it. I have a 50 Templar. Are these any good for PvP?

With low ping I would personally put gunner right there with sorc (if not higher). Obviously you cant out-dps a sin or a summoner but once you learn how to put autos between your skills and cancel the animation your dmg becomes so much higher

sin is top DPS class true specially now in 5.0 they can have crazy amount of attack, however magic classes can have crazy amount of crit spell as well specially sorc ,i didnt play sin but i think its hard class to play due to many buffs, while sorc is very easy and strong imo DPS order is: 1- sin 2- sorc (with freezing wind)3- SM with brain sadly it is rare to see good SM who know how to use his skills

Hey, Im main templar as well, and Im coming back to aion after 4 months of absense. I got realy confused with loads of pve gear everywhere. I have my pvp gear with extendable, but my pve gear is giant mess. I have hyperion gs +15 but its obviusly crap for pve. I was thinking about getting mythical acient coin gs and fuse it with AP since it looks like the easiest way to get decent non extendable greatsword. Can you give me some advice please. iam thinkin bout a reroll to the asmodians, cant choose between a cleric, sorcerer or an assasin, while i never played a sun much further than lvl 40. assasin pvp ganks looks like fun, but last time played 4.8, so is there now even a chance to get good gear, to do pvp asap?
+Sywo San Ambidextry Gladiator is the best Dps PvE in the game (if you think not it's because no gladiator as you know understands the game ...). You don't tell about it, your ranking of dps (order) is wrong.
Templars are actually not above AT or Bard considering their DPS because they profit too much from godstones (mainly). I'd say they're equal to chanters and gunners (yeah, they suck even WITH godstones unfortunetly, especially after they nerfed those) as you can determine from comparing instances like Makarna until 4.9 (i.imgur.com/Tlq6IVp.png Sins are not even at full potential here due to losing bonus for attacking from behind/Dagger Oath). The result was similar in Katalamize before 4.8 in fact though AoEs were more important here. Templars can be good or even better than many average players from various classes, but they remain having the lowest possibilities along with gunner and chanter. And it's Sorc > SM considering the DPS; moreover any chain sets have the same Mboost stats nowadays as cloth sets have concerning 60+ stuff - the only advantage might be more MP.
what is the best aspect of this game? i'm downloading it again. and the highest level i got to was 15 and i did not like it but it looks so much more fun when you are high level

I think you make a lot of good points, except for sorc... Sorc for pve is #1 dps unless you're using no ani bot on sin. I really doubt SM out DPS' a sorc with pve vision stigma
aion has almost no 1 vs 1 balance. everything is group balanced. that´s also why there is no dispell pot for magic CC.. normally your cleric dispells it
It matters a lot about the player, but even like that, the sin remains #1 if the player has brain. The others..i don't know..in many cases i saw cleric above sorc or even sin..
Sin don't have aoe skills. So if boss spawn adds, sorcerer and SM have better dps. Even glad is better dps class, because sometimes you need class with aoe.

What class would you recommend for me? all my life I've either played a tanking or healing class simply cause i get bored in dps when i played dps i was always ranged tank has to be melee, healer is whatever idm, i like fast past when attacking and lots of mobility I'm not sure if this game cares about mobility or not, idk if there are multi healing classes (i have the video paused haven't watched it yet ) I enough healing classes on the somewhat harder class to play since healing that is easy sucks that why i normally choose the class with less healing/ weaker healing abilities . but recently ive been playing an arms warrior type of class on this aura kingdom game (arms warrior is basically from world of warcraft easiest way to explain it) I like to be useful someone people can rely on but i really enjoy pissing people off so pvp is my shit so something that i can do well it pvp. idk if this was useful or not but yeah lol ty
I also like playing classes that people hate etc why i spoke/typed about choosing the weaker healing class to be the one good player at it since i've always done that i got quiet well known online from it lmao so any classes like that would be really great :D sorry for bothering you
+Ceefia sounds like you would really enjoy playing an assassin, but they are definitely an end game class. Didn't have too much fun with mine till about level 50. Well worth the wait though.

Don't know if I'm more geared than others or something with my bard but I'm always top 2 dps in any situation, I wouldn't say myself that I'm geared because I only have the full hyperion set +10 with a mythic ac harp +25
Whatever you say about dps is just a standard thing, even if you have the best gear in the game, if you dont know how to play your class, you will do no dps. skill > gear.. most of the best players dont have the best gear, but they know their class from the inside and out, combinations, what they can take with what gear set against what enemy, ...

Hey man, i'm not playing AION anymore. I used to play the "online" one which is the European version. The "upheaval" is the US version and it's "better" then the EU one. Wish you lots of fun if you still decide to play it.
everyone disagreeing with you because 90% of the time they have worse gear/skills than a templar or cleric once in a run that have good gear/skills..*he specifically stated that he is looking at these classes with same xy gear and skill in mind*

I see your point, but he's right it's interesting enough at the point in the game and gives you a good amount of damage and healing that can help with some of the frustration other classes would have to go through. Bards are great solo classes and a fantastic class to learn the game on.
I think he's right though, because a new player does not have much experience in aion, a bard basically is always accepted in groups, so it should help the person get more experienced and at the same time enjoy the game more. Sure, it's repetitive but, aren't all classes? It just doesn't seem like it is for some because they have different combo options, but at the end of the day, they are all repetitive.
Lyakim x Gamesoft is europe, ncsoft is na. Simply: If you live in europe install Gameforge version, if you live in america, take ncsoft - it will be ping difference.
After u left the game there arent any accurate guides i just came back to the game after 4 years and I can hardly find any guide that was published earlier than 2 months ago.
good templar do dps on same level as gunslinger/chanter. with greatsword ofc its possible. i.imgur.com/z8tTC49.png - idps table, arm lies. idps count average dps since first hit on boss -> last hit/time. So its the most accurate meter ingame actually. table is from 17.06 global makarna topdps. we just can guess how 6.5k/s sin changed in 5.0 to a higher (in 4.9 content) dps. Maybe 7k, who knows. Good bard are dps-shitter, one of best pvp clas in-game, i know full mb lowbobs do low dmg, but mb/critspel bard can do dps on same level as ranger ^^
For the people who want to know about the dps the truth is that every class can out dps another class im playing assassin more than a year and i never saw a sin in the top 3 places of the dps on bosses. So dont create your character with this logic " oh i want to be the top dps ill make a sin" NO you not gonna be you need tons of other stuff to do this. have that in mind cheeeeers :D
so wrong about gunner. Noone knows how to properly dps in pve, because everyone uses the stupid pistols 90% of the time, instead of the full canon stigma branch. in pve, you use pistols for mana regen mostly, but the canon does so much damage. SO unless it has changed drastically since level cap increased, gunners are easily numero 1 or 2 dps in the game. the only time u get out dpsed is when the mobs are very resistant to magic dmg ans weak to physical damage (like sauro war depot)
Man I don't know what ur talking about. I'm playing a temp and I'm outdpsing a looooot sins on my server, and they are one of the best DPs on my server.
+Enrique Aalders Mate that's not a random sin, because he can open it ass ez in pve and pvp. ut u need to understand that temps can do a shit ton of DPs, but take off the supp skills. I see that problem with a lot of people, and learn ur rotations..... ofc there is a sin that can outdps me, but I'm playing on Hellion, with my friends, who we all have chars on antriksha and i kjow how good players they are. ^_^
i play temp and i dont deal nearly as much dmg as a sin who has worse gear. maybe becuase i am focusing taunting but anyway you cant say a tem p has more dps than a sin on equal gear becuase that would mean that sin is just a templar with a little less dmg and a lot less hp and defense....
the best templar will never out dps the best sin. Physical classes need a lot of gear though and low/steady ping if possible - and weaving skills. Most average players don't have those. I out dps all classes with templar if they're played badly or about average - but a sin with the same gear will simply laugh if they can actually play, no matter what.
All i can say rangers/sins pwn sorcs/bards/sm's ,i play as ranger and i have no problems with cloth classes but the problem is with templars and chants,but with clerics no,imo sm/ranger/chant and glad for group pvp,and playing as cleric sucks cause u will always get targeted 1st ,probably die first and for solo pvp it's quite good.
Idk,but chants rekt me usually cause of their buffs,if they catch me and i don't play it right i die but if i use insta sprint correctly with shock arrow i 80% of the time kill them and i guess im a little bit undergeared :D Sr 1 ap body/legs strife acc,everything else,but i can't seem to do lots of dmg to knock out chants instantly like ik the dmg stacks with griffonix arrow to unnering arrow,but dmg is just not that big as i want i usually get chants down to 20% hp and i run out of skills and by that time silence wears off and i guess its cause of my ping,i think rangers are same as sins u need proper ping to play with em,cause i see in vids how ppl use their skills as ranger so fast with all buffs,(they use 4 skills in 1 sec) i use 3 skills only :/.And i use bow with 3.7k dmg gstone lol :D.Cause too poor to pay for gstone that i will add to not that good bow its brigade's general btw +15.
With good gear u can kill chanter thru his heals without bothering silencing him and 8s silence is more than enough to kill chanter even if his gear is better just use ur skills wisely
If you compare a templar with sorc, sm, sin, glad, bard, ranger you will fall under in terms of dps. And that puts you exactly at the lower bar of dps classes. That ofc, if you all wear the same gear and have the same skill in playing the game. A good templar can out dps any bad group. But never a good one.
Templar used to have problems in holding agro when doing longer bosses so people gave them time to build up aggro and to do that they were solo dpsing for few mins cuz their dps is so shit that once high dps burst classes started rotations temp lost aggro.

GO AT He's beast at the moment ;) spiritmaster Is great for solo stuff and Is entertaining, SM main by myself with 75lvl. Go Spiritmaster :P

Hi, I'm playing in the EU region, the best server to start off would be Deyla - Asmodian faction, just because i am here.

The rookie server is the only place people have the same interests as you :D Enjoy it till lvl 60 then you can continue on the regular one

does leveling still take forever I really haven't played this since the launch of assault on baluaria
Took me 4 days from 1 to 66 last time i tried. After 66 it does take long to 75.

What class would you recommend for me? all my life I've either played a tanking or healing class simply cause i get bored in dps when i played dps i was always ranged tank has to be melee, healer is whatever idm, i like fast past when attacking and lots of mobility I'm not sure if this game cares about mobility or not, idk if there are multi healing classes (i have the video paused haven't watched it yet ) I enough healing classes on the somewhat harder class to play since healing that is easy sucks that why i normally choose the class with less healing/ weaker healing abilities . but recently ive been playing an arms warrior type of class on this aura kingdom game (arms warrior is basically from world of warcraft easiest way to explain it) I like to be useful someone people can rely on but i really enjoy pissing people off so pvp is my shit so something that i can do well it pvp. idk if this was useful or not but yeah lol ty
I also like playing classes that people hate etc why i spoke/typed about choosing the weaker healing class to be the one good player at it since i've always done that i got quiet well known online from it lmao so any classes like that would be really great :D sorry for bothering you
+Ceefia sounds like you would really enjoy playing an assassin, but they are definitely an end game class. Didn't have too much fun with mine till about level 50. Well worth the wait though.

Don't know if I'm more geared than others or something with my bard but I'm always top 2 dps in any situation, I wouldn't say myself that I'm geared because I only have the full hyperion set +10 with a mythic ac harp +25

Whatever you say about dps is just a standard thing, even if you have the best gear in the game, if you dont know how to play your class, you will do no dps. skill > gear.. most of the best players dont have the best gear, but they know their class from the inside and out, combinations, what they can take with what gear set against what enemy, ...

Hi, i played Aion back there at 3.0 but since then i haven't played coz of my shitty ping. but now even with this ping i wanna play again. so if i have ping around 300-400 or high which class should i play? and another thing, im from Bangladesh which is very far from NA or EU so which server would u think is good for me so i get less ping problem? thanks

Hey man, i'm not playing AION anymore. I used to play the "online" one which is the European version. The "upheaval" is the US version and it's "better" then the EU one. Wish you lots of fun if you still decide to play it.

Gladiators have the most realistic AOE chances out of all the classes. Sorcs also come in second.

I see your point, but he's right it's interesting enough at the point in the game and gives you a good amount of damage and healing that can help with some of the frustration other classes would have to go through. Bards are great solo classes and a fantastic class to learn the game on.
I think he's right though, because a new player does not have much experience in aion, a bard basically is always accepted in groups, so it should help the person get more experienced and at the same time enjoy the game more.
Sure, it's repetitive but, aren't all classes? It just doesn't seem like it is for some because they have different combo options, but at the end of the day, they are all repetitive.

good templar do dps on same level as gunslinger/chanter. with greatsword ofc its possible. i.imgur.com/z8tTC49.png - idps table, arm lies. idps count average dps since first hit on boss -> last hit/time. So its the most accurate meter ingame actually. table is from 17.06 global makarna topdps. we just can guess how 6.5k/s sin changed in 5.0 to a higher (in 4.9 content) dps. Maybe 7k, who knows. Good bard are dps-shitter, one of best pvp clas in-game, i know full mb lowbobs do low dmg, but mb/critspel bard can do dps on same level as ranger ^^

For the people who want to know about the dps the truth is that every class can out dps another class im playing assassin more than a year and i never saw a sin in the top 3 places of the dps on bosses. So dont create your character with this logic " oh i want to be the top dps ill make a sin" NO you not gonna be you need tons of other stuff to do this. have that in mind cheeeeers :D
All you need as sin is weave, it's simple to do and he's talking about ppl with equal gear

so wrong about gunner. Noone knows how to properly dps in pve, because everyone uses the stupid pistols 90% of the time, instead of the full canon stigma branch. in pve, you use pistols for mana regen mostly, but the canon does so much damage. SO unless it has changed drastically since level cap increased, gunners are easily numero 1 or 2 dps in the game. the only time u get out dpsed is when the mobs are very resistant to magic dmg ans weak to physical damage (like sauro war depot)
Man I don't know what ur talking about. I'm playing a temp and I'm outdpsing a looooot sins on my server, and they are one of the best DPs on my server.
Just because you outdps a random sin, doesn't mean temps are better dps than sin in general
+Enrique Aalders Mate that's not a random sin, because he can open it ass ez in pve and pvp. ut u need to understand that temps can do a shit ton of DPs, but take off the supp skills. I see that problem with a lot of people, and learn ur rotations..... ofc there is a sin that can outdps me, but I'm playing on Hellion, with my friends, who we all have chars on antriksha and i kjow how good players they are. ^_^
i play temp and i dont deal nearly as much dmg as a sin who has worse gear. maybe becuase i am focusing taunting but anyway you cant say a tem p has more dps than a sin on equal gear becuase that would mean that sin is just a templar with a little less dmg and a lot less hp and defense....
the best templar will never out dps the best sin. Physical classes need a lot of gear though and low/steady ping if possible - and weaving skills. Most average players don't have those. I out dps all classes with templar if they're played badly or about average - but a sin with the same gear will simply laugh if they can actually play, no matter what.

All i can say rangers/sins pwn sorcs/bards/sm's ,i play as ranger and i have no problems with cloth classes but the problem is with templars and chants,but with clerics no,imo sm/ranger/chant and glad for group pvp,and playing as cleric sucks cause u will always get targeted 1st ,probably die first and for solo pvp it's quite good.
Group pvp sm is number 1 target, and ranger doesn't have any issues vs chanter

Idk,but chants rekt me usually cause of their buffs,if they catch me and i don't play it right i die but if i use insta sprint correctly with shock arrow i 80% of the time kill them and i guess im a little bit undergeared :D Sr 1 ap body/legs strife acc,everything else,but i can't seem to do lots of dmg to knock out chants instantly like ik the dmg stacks with griffonix arrow to unnering arrow,but dmg is just not that big as i want i usually get chants down to 20% hp and i run out of skills and by that time silence wears off and i guess its cause of my ping,i think rangers are same as sins u need proper ping to play with em,cause i see in vids how ppl use their skills as ranger so fast with all buffs,(they use 4 skills in 1 sec) i use 3 skills only :/.And i use bow with 3.7k dmg gstone lol :D.Cause too poor to pay for gstone that i will add to not that good bow its brigade's general btw +15.

With good gear u can kill chanter thru his heals without bothering silencing him and 8s silence is more than enough to kill chanter even if his gear is better just use ur skills wisely
You are so wrong about templars dps.
If you compare a templar with sorc, sm, sin, glad, bard, ranger you will fall under in terms of dps. And that puts you exactly at the lower bar of dps classes. That ofc, if you all wear the same gear and have the same skill in playing the game. A good templar can out dps any bad group. But never a good one.

Templar used to have problems in holding agro when doing longer bosses so people gave them time to build up aggro and to do that they were solo dpsing for few mins cuz their dps is so shit that once high dps burst classes started rotations temp lost aggro.
+Ilona F temps can only out dps chanter they both suck at dps in pve cause they have their most powerful skills at knockdown condtion...

Sorcs still are, rangers felt behind somewhere after 4.0, sins are top dps since day 1 ^^

you can but you cant be a pro at physical low range eith 200ms, i advice you to go for long range Sorc/SM/Bard/Cleric
