Thankyou Scotty and Craig another emotional video. Sonny had to go to his grave with guilt for what he did to Elvis. He never got to make peace or go to Elvis' funeral and say goodbye to him, what a burden that must have been. At the time of the book I believe they wanted revenge on Elvis if only they had stopped to think how much Elvis did for them. I think they regretted that book for the rest of their lives but its too late when Elvis died and the damage has been done. Elvis was broken by that book it was so tragic, if only Elvis knew how much we loved him and always will.sonny, red and dave will never be loved like that.
    Thank you scotty and Craig.

If they did go to their graves with guilt I am glad. I am sorry, but I do not believe in forgiving a Judas. That's what these people were and they weren't the only ones. If you love and care about somebody, no matter how angry you are with them, you do not tell the world about private things whether they were true or not. I stood by Lisa Marie when she wrote and sang Nobody noticed. These men were substance abusers and acted like only Elvis was. These men were womanizers and acted like Elvis was the only one. These men did so many things that they accused Elvis of doing. Their behavior along with others, is not the behavior of someone who cared about him. I can judge them, because I have been in a similar situation on a small scale obviously, but I never betrayed any confidence no matter what we argued over. Like you said, it was too late.

How could they forget him, he was a BIG part of their lives. He gave so much of himself and what he had to all.
No one forgets a good soul, a beautiful smile and an "infectious" laugh.
I'm sure Elvis had some great times too, in between his loneliness.
    A sad one Scotty!

This video Scotty made was always going to be divisive.
And everyone on here certainly carries an opinion, and rightly so, It’s very emotive.
There are two sides to every story, something to always consider.
And whichever side you fall on the other side cannot be totally dismissed. Because it happened, they were involved, it made them feel a particular way, it made them act in a particular way.
But as we’ve always believed …What you sow you reap.
We try to have a nuanced approach in what we see and what we’ve researched throughout the years.
The picture Sonny paints here cannot fail to move even the coldest of hearts.
For the feelings he shares puts Elvis in a truly beautiful light, and this is most welcomed at this particular juncture in time of all that’s going on.
This was the primary focus of this video.
The imagery that Scott has put to his recollections are truly beautifully
Isn’t the message that is being carried here the most important thing ? TCB⚡️

I'm sure they all had good feelings for each other. When you live that close for such a long time it can't be different. Otherwise their friendship would have "busted" way before. They had good times and bad times, just like everybody else. It does move me to see Sonny's tears, they don't come easy for a man.

Thank you for this moving admission from Sonny . Can we all just stop bickering about the mistakes that were made by those around Elvis and concentrate on the world changing legacy he left behind ? It was a completely different time back then ... everyone close to Elvis has told their stories ... every one of them takes a unique look at the man ... we will never know the complete truth because it was a personal relationship shared by two people . The same is true about Elvis and Priscilla , or Linda or Ginger ... we can only project our feelings as we see them today . Only Elvis participated in the relationships , not us . All we should do is celebrate his genius , his talent , and his generous , beautiful heart ... let the world see what what a gift from God he really was and stop judging how he lived his life . TCB sweet man forever !

Ya know, truthfully I don't think Elvis was so much lonely. I really believe he suffered from depression. That was such taboo back then, which is sad. I think it started when his beloved mom died. I think he was always searching for that same unconditional love the rest of his life! The love where no one expected a thing from him, it was just freely given. 😢

    • @southerngirl9941
      @southerngirl9941 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yes, always searching for unconditional love after Gladys had gone. I do believe he was 'very lonely at heart', as Linda Thompson says, no matter how many people around him. I personally think the closest he got to unconditional love was Ann-Margret and his audiences. On stage he had this loving smile, was talking to them, confiding in them, and they always were enthusiastic and loved him no matter what he was doing (or how he was looking). That's why I think he rarely cancelled a show. He needed that and of course didn't want to let them down. 💔🌹

All my days after we're spent feeling that missing part of me. Every birthday was brutal. When he turned 16 the laws had changed to where adoption records could be opened . When he turned 18. We were able to bond and never looked back. To this day we are very close .and the missing link, sadness , loneliness. All disappeared. To b continued.🤎🌹🤎

There was a part of His Soul missing, From youth, His Twin. If you've ever lost a Child. You could possibly understand the yearning E.P. had ,then the Bond with Aunt Gladys,. There's something about our Mississippi Women . My mother in law was like Aunt Gladys, speaking Baby jibberish to her son . She's passed now, yet Her son still speaks this way when talking with me or our pets . Then losing Aunt Gladys was devasting. For sure

they devoted their lives to him and would've taken a bullet for him
anyone who's had to watch helplessly while a loved one self destructs understands the pain and frustration
elvis was extremely manipulative and increasingly abusive during those last yrs
      these guys knew it
and allowed it out of their love for him
they were desperate to get him turned around
they knew they were gonna lose him if he didn't change his ways
then they were fired i can only imagine how deep that betrayal must have felt and how terrifying it must have been
scared desperate people do crazy shit
the book was a bad decision no doubt but it doesn't wipe away all the love and yrs these men shared together
and they're the ones that had to carry on their lives with the guilt over it and the loss of their best friend
i do not share the animosity towards the mm that many do

i really hate the whole "victim" narrative that has elvis being a victim of literally everyone in his life
      victim of circumstance certainly!!!
but to paint him as a victim of those closest to him makes him out to be weak, simple and uneducated...which is completely untrue
elvis was extremely intelligent and could read people with laser accuracy
he knew exactly who and **what** the people in his inner circle and professional life were but he loved and trusted them and didn't care
      elvis was in control..always
and had final say on everything
painting him as a victim to everyone in his life robs him of his agency and dignity and it baffles me why even to this day with all we now know people continue to perpetuate the victim narrative

      absolutely
he was definitely a victim of circumstances
I know the incredible pressures he was under definitely informed many of his decisions for better or worse
none of us could possibly understand the extreme pressure and fear that came with navigating the type of fame that no one had ever seen before
and elvis seemed paralyzed and trapped by his paranoia of making any changes for fear of frying pan to the fire and the responsibility he felt to those around him
no one could blame him in that regards
unfortunately there are always gonna be people out there looking to take advantage of successful generous people with kind hearts

It should never have been written like this. Very unfortunate circumstances led to it and it helped worsen Elvis' condition I'm afraid. But there almost never is just black and white. People around Elvis were human as he was and some did make grave mistakes that hurt him very much.

There's nothing more lonely than feeling alone in a crowd. Elvis had no one to guide him as no one before him had experienced the meteoric rise that he had; and, it must have been difficult to not know who loved you for the person you were and who loved you for what they could gain by being around him. It sounds like Sonny lived with regret after Elvis died.

@@clairemooney1429 Because of the book Lisa-Marie no longer wanted to have contact with Sunny and Red West. She hasn't forgiven them for their betrayal.

Yeah Sonny... Elvis was so good to you, yet you also trashed him along with your cousin the other MM guys! Elvis died knowing how you lot stabbed him in the back, betrayed him, ripped his privacy apart! This was so dear to him, his privacy. His heart must have been broken knowing what his so called friends did to him! 💔
But you Sonny, had to live with that fact going into your grave, what you did to Elvis, and no time to make amends! 😮

It was a very complex situation, until you were there in the thick of it ,yoy shouldn't judge ,there where WRONGS on both sides ,and elvis was going to hire them back ,billy smith has said this ,Elvis was in denial about his drug addition ,its common .

@@Toria-l6b For your information Vicky, it was called prescription medication! Big difference! Easy for you to point fingers at Elvis, did you have all the health problems, aches and pains that he had? I think not! Then Don't talk about him being in denial! He did the best he could considering all his health issues at the time.
