    Not only did this movie show Elvis’s “ beauty” but also the beauty and tenderness of his voice..loved learning all about the history of the movie and song...always enjoy his interaction with children...I maybe getting off the track here,but god, that man was gorgeous in blue! Nice one Scotty!👏

    • @cliffedward
      @cliffedward 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good that you mention the 'tenderness' in Elvis' voice. I feel that after the '68 Comeback he lost that. When you listen to his pre 60's recordings his voice is like a musical instrument with a beautiful vibrato. Some will strongly deny this but I think you have to be realistic about it and admit there was a vast change.

    • @ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel
      @ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it became more gravely and had a rougher texture but the voice matured..that’s why his vocal exploits are fascinating..
      My favourite period is the early sixties I’ve made no secret of that but equally I can find reasons to love his voice from any year..
      His voice particularly from the Vegas engagement in February 1970 was unreal for hard hard rockers and big power ballads..
      He was unmatched vocally by any other singer due to the fact he could sing anything in any style.
      Semi operatic to the tender ballads to the full voiced high-B’s in the early 60s to the high A’s and G’s in the 70s along with lots of other notes.
      At nearly a 3 octave range this guy was fully covered to tackle anything vocally

    • @nomih6331
      @nomih6331 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! He was a natural actor, he had all of the right instincts and he could could do both comedy and drama. Even before the army, Parker and Wallis stopped a few movies that would have been perfect for him ("Thunder Road" and "The Defiant Ones").

    He stepped out radiant as an angel', Tom (Petty) said. 'He seemed to glow and walk above the ground. It was like nothing I'd ever seen in my life. At 50 yards, we were stunned by what this guy looked like. And he came walking right towards us'. Elvis' hair was so impossibly black that it glistened a deep blue when the sunlight hit it. [This is not so as Elvis had his natural hair for this movie] And that's when Elvis walked directly over to Uncle Earl, Aunt Ellen and little Tom Petty'. We were speechless', Petty recalled. As Uncle Earl introduced Elvis to his nieces and nephews, the King of Rock 'n' Roll smiled and nodded to each open-mouthed youngster'. I don't know what he said because I was just too dumbfounded', Tom said. 'And he went into his trailer'.
    Amazing how that encounter effected his whole life. Then he had that effect on many..we still talking about him.
    Good review of a time that I genuinely feel he was in a good place..he looked radiantly healthy..as Tom said glowing !

    Hi, only recently discovered your channel. I must say I think your enthusiasm and love for Elvis is brilliant. I watched the trip review you did with your brother about your 2012 visit to Memphis and just thought it was fantastic. The effort and attention to detail is staggering and just your natural gift to get this over is to be admired. If anyone finds the need to be negative they must be looking at something else.
    You've got to be one of the best Elvis channels out there.. keep up the good work. Like you and your brother I'm hoping for a surprise return trip to Graceland soon as..

    Follow That Dream is a very good movie, and one that always seems so enjoyable to watch. it makes the perfect companion in a double feature with Kid Galahad. who would have ever thought that the title of an Elvis movie would eventually serve as the basis for the FTD collectors label beginning in 1999, with the release of Follow That Dream in 2004

    My favourite film - best most relaxed acting to me :) Kid Galahad fight scenes are fantastic - pre Rocky - Im sure Sly saw and was influenced by that in some way amongst other films.

    Enjoy your presentations thank you. In 1973 went Sydney to London, working holiday. At Hambleys was a young female Elvis fan. On her cash register name button she put Elvis as her name. She really loved him as so many did and do in the world.

    Hi Scott. Great content, as always. I like how you glide from one subject to the next in your videos. Believe it or not, I'd never seen FTD before last year and I loved it. It became an immediate favourite Elvis film of mine. The soundtrack's not the strongest but Elvis was in tremendous voice. I particularly like the way he sings the word "lead" in the title track. Great singing.

      Thankyou David..yes his vocal on Ftd is very underrated..I think it’s great.
      You pick out the nuances on the words of the vocals just like I do..
      A very stylised vocalist was our boy..can’t think of anyone better ..take care sir😊

    Follow that dream was the first time I really saw Elvis Presley and that blue shirt on television and even though I was a little girl I was mesmerized and to this day now that I'm ancient... Follow That Dream , will still be one of my all time favorite favorite movies and I really do believe that Elvis had real acting chops! He should have been given serious roles.

    Brilliant as always. I absolutely love this movie. Such a shame Elvis did not get a chance to hone his comedic skills in a movie of the same quality again. I actually read the book Pioneer Go Home over fifty years ago. I spotted the paperback in a second hand shop and Elvis was on the cover so I had to have it. They had of course changed the title to Follow That Dream. I now have the hard back edition in the original title. To this day I do not know another soul that has read. Nice gentle story with comedy and drama combined in a readable way. Take care. TCB ⚡ 👑

    Loved Follow that Dream and thought Elvis was so good in it and looked like he was having fun. Every time I see Bloch Arena I think how sad it was that he didn't perform live again for so long.As for pills, They say if you remember the sixties you weren't really there so I don't think they were the only ones. I'm going to have to watch it again now! It's so interesting to get all the background on this - Great Review!

    Scotty, OUTSTANDING as always sir. And may I compliment you on your closing selection. My second favorite song from this particular film is What a Wonderful life.
    The film itself, does showcase what a wonderful feel for comedy, Elvis did in fact possess. And is once again lamentable, that he would not be allowed to properly pursue additional roles, that would have solidified this.
    Additionally, in regards to Mr. Petty, he further acknowledged that upon seeing Elvis in person, ( his dad was involved with background work on the set ), that he instantly knew he wished to be a Rock Star. A statement echoed by countless artists through the years.
    Charismatic, influential, diverse, transcendent and insightful. Sometimes mythlike, at times bigger than life itself. Yet always a man, humble, generous and kind.
    Scotty, your words always speak with an appreciative tone. Respectful, considerate and forthright. And I applaud your continued contributions.
    Follow That Dream, what an appropriate segment for a man and his brother who continue to acknowledge and realise a portion of their respective dreams. To enlighten, inform and provide a historical retrospective and perspective of a man so close to our collective hearts.
    Sincerely, appreciated my friend.

    Except for the 4 movies Elvis made before the Army. Follow That Dream and Kid Galahad along with GI Blues are favorites of mine. I love Elvis with his natural hair color. I so enjoy your movie and music reviews. I keep learning new things about Elvis, his movies and people involved. I think Annie Helm was a great costar for Elvis. I did read that she fell in love with him but so many women he worked with did. Only Elvis ❤ Thanks for your great insights.
