Thank you. Do you cover danger or risk of flying post concussive incident when there is still headache and nausea from being hit head on at 30 mph?

What If I haven't done anything for my concussion for 7 years? Passed out while biking at a relatively fast speed without a helmet and woke up on the sidewalk. Was diagnosed with concussion and hairline fracture to my left clavicle. Sprained ankle 2 years later and things are now really bad in present day.

Hi there! I've worked with folks 2, 3, 5, 10, etc... years out from their injuries. Clinically, I've found that if we still turn over the same big rocks (e.g., autonomic/exercise tolerance, visual/vestibular function, etc...) then we can still make dramatic - often full - recovery. Go ahead and schedule a discovery call if you'd like to chat more: www.drheisig.com/schedule

What happens at the concussion doctor that is minimizing the recovery time? What are they doing?

    • @drmarkheisig

What we're seeing in the literature is that longer rest times are resulting in more prolonged and severe symptoms in many (not all) folks. One way to minimize this is to have an appropriate evaluation with a concussion specialist who can assess autonomic/exercise tolerance, visual/vestibular function, cervical spine function, and psychological health. A standard recovery time in the literature (after a sports-related concussion) is 21 days. Missing a deficit in one of these areas can prolong/delay recovery by missing early treatment or missing an appropriate and timely specialist referral. So, overall, we're finding that early care equals earlier recovery. If you go to a "concussion doctor" and they prescribe "rest," they're not a concussion doctor. Period.

@@drmarkheisig yeah true, my family doctor had no clue what to do with me and didn't really care he sent me away and told me to rest. Got pcs for 6-7 months BCS of that. this was a few years back I know what to do with my recent concussion.

My daughter has inmense upper cervical instability... therefore I don't agree with your suggestion. After 2 years, we found that she most likely has upper cervical instability... she would have kept on collapsing everywhere... therefore, please get some education.

Thank you for sharing your daughter’s experience-I can see how challenging that must have been. Cases like hers actually emphasize the importance of early evaluation by a qualified concussion specialist to ensure no critical issues, like upper cervical instability, are missed. My goal with this content is to raise awareness about the value of timely assessments to avoid long-term complications.
Wishing your daughter continued progress in her recovery. If you ever have any further thoughts or questions, I’m always open to discussion.

That's a different video. But generally, across ages, 4 weeks covers MOST people.
