    Personally I started out with the jb4 and then moved on to the first version of the lap3. Jb4 seemed better for launch control, but the lap3 imo was much better a roll racing. Either way best comparison I've seen, great job man.

      @@Kzxo At the time yes, but now the JB4 has had a lot of upgrades and refinement but so has the new lap3 tuner. I havent used either one. Personally I would go with lap3 just because of familiarity and good experience i had.

    As someone who owns a JB4 I can confirm that 4.2s are the most consistent runs in 0-60. I have 25lbs wheels on 265s PS4S with SSR downpipes and a Muffler delete, all my runs are done on 91 octane on a GT RWD. However that 4.2s number means almost nothing to me as I've beat plenty of cars off the dig that claim 0-60 in under 4s. I rarely do dig races however, most my encounters are roll races.

    Great job, I know it's hard to do the exact same sequences to fairly test both ecu's. The difference in the Lap3 falling off on the later runs could be due to a number of factors (stock ecu interfering differently, heat soak, even the humidity / air temps being different from the time you ran the jb4 vs lap. • @joretoGT1
    @joretoGT1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great video, but from experience standing starts aren't the best way to compare differences as the launch can affect the result, a better way is a rolling test, say 30-100 or 60-130 and the best way in may opinion is to do the test in one gear, say 2-nd or 3-rd gear (test acceleration between speeds that correspond to rev range 2000 - 2500 rpm to rev limit)

    • @VividVisual
      @VividVisual  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When will an average consumer go 30-100 or 60-130?

    • @joretoGT1
      @joretoGT1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@VividVisual Аs I understand it, the point of this test is to see if and how much difference there is (in power/ drivability ), and the best way to do it is to minimize the effects of variables like launching, gear shift etc. , you could do it even between say 10-40/50 miles (as this is awd ). Just trying to help as I've bean doing such tests for years on different cars(fwd,rwd,awd,manuals,auto, from 100hp to 600-700hp etc.), and have spent a lot of time trying to get the best and most consistent method.
      P.S. if the comparison is meant only for 0-60 then you can disregard what I've written, but that is just part of the story when comparing chips/tunes/tuning boxes/power bands etc.

    • @VividVisual
      @VividVisual  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joretoGT1 No that makes sense, yeah most people wanted to see the 0-60 runs because of the hype of doing o-60. I could definitely go over some 10-50 rolls though and touch base on that but I was going to do it in an explanation video. Harder to show that rather than explaining what it feels like as your doing it but definitely agree there are some talking points that I could have covered.

  • @theguy1224
    @theguy1224 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's not only about 0-60 man that people go with different piggyback tunes. It's the driveability, the way it delivers it's torque, mpg etc. Some people might like the "slower" tune, even if it's only by .2 seconds slower to 60 but it might be better to live with day to day. No stuttering, no off idle stutter, smoother delivery etc. With that said, i love these cars. I have a scatpack charger as my 1st choice to get as my next daily. But a deal falls through, then the stinger gt is my next choice.

    • @VividVisual
      @VividVisual  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not the videos focus, and everyone who is watching the video wants to know exactly what I'm showcasing in the video. We all know how they drive, this is mostly to showcase for people who have one or the other and want to know the difference in 0-60 runs. They each drive fine and don't have problems daily driving so there isn't a point to cover that topic.

    • @theguy1224
      @theguy1224 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VividVisual No it's a good video, i'm not knocking it but i don't think anyone who has a stinger, and hasn't bought one of these tuners yet, is going to get one based on 0-60 alone. Also on top of that, if we can get technical here, it's not accurate because many factors are being played in between runs. Your tire pressures, heatsoak, gas in the tank etc. Even if it's minuscule you have to take that into account. I bet if you did 6 runs on one tuner you would have came with the same results as opposed to doing 3 of each tune. Or you should have done the average of the 3 runs per tune, and comparing the 2 times. Unless i missed that part in the video.

    • @VividVisual
      @VividVisual  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theguy1224 I did 3 runs with the first and 4 runs with the second. If that's the case then there is literally no way to make a perfect video for the community but it was a great attempt.

      A dragy is close but its not a real 1/4 mile imo coming from a 5.0 owner.
      At the end of the day the ecu flash tune will perform the best had kia put a legit fuel system on the stinger gt they would be putting down m3 numbers the 3.3l tgdi engine is literally a B58 with slightly better engineering what you have is an over engineered block due to it being the first coming out party in your face performance sedan from kia and genesis (g70) just like BMW did with the n55 same engineers just moved to different brand and middle finger to the other germans

      @@BurgerMotorsports I figured it was a little misleading because of the distance every run was different slopes, I spoke about it in the edit but took it out because of other things I was side tracking on so didn't include it in the cut, figuring that the people watching understood we were using the same spot in the same location but I guess a few comments are asking for more clarification which is what I was ready to respond to. Also, haven't done the BMS brake mod yet but sincerely look forward to doing that!

    Thanks for the comparison! Important question: Did you do a set of runs with neither? You also already have intake and exhaust upgrades which can make a difference. I don't know, all in these times aren't drastically better than the stock times put out by the various outlets. It's a decently quick car straight from the factory.

      Yea I said all cars will have different results but this is to give an idea of the gain differences between the two. You wouldn't be able to use these unless you switched to HKS spark plugs, and then you couldn't go past map 1 unless you started to add intake and exhaust.

    And then another thing you should have done was since there is such a big price difference. What is the 0-60 time with the e85 on a JB4 and is that still cheaper? Doing all that than it is getting the lap three because right there would be everything you would most likely achieve faster times by far than a lap three by itself and I bet it's cheaper

  • @ericmichel3857
    @ericmichel3857 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    What does the car run without these devices? Also any other modifications?
    I have a Golf R 2017 with a JB4, it made a huge improvement on that car. I also did draggy testing and stock it did around 4.5-4.8 second 0-60 at 13.1 1/4 @105 MPH. With just the JB4 and nothing else it did 4.0 second 0-60 and 12.4 1/4 at 110 MPH. With just a high flow cat DP, bigger inter-cooler, and K&N drop in filter it now does 0-60 in 3.6-3.8 seconds and 11.9 to 12.0 1/4 mile @ 114 MPH.
    I am very happy with the JB4, I cannot see paying $600 more for a different plug in device with more or less the same results. If anything the JB4 seemed a lot more consistent which is a good indicator for reliability. I don't know this other device or what it might offer for double the price but it doesn't seem to be worth the added cost. The JB4 has been used for years on other platforms and has an excellent reputation for reliability and customer service. Plus they have the blue tooth option where you can log data, read codes, fine tune boost and fuel, and monitor engine parameters.

      @ericmichel3857 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VividVisual It would be interesting if you could do a full 1/4 mile run because 0-60 isn't the best indicator of power. Looking at your draggy g force data I can see that the Golf hits a lot harder right off the line, probably the difference of the dual clutch vs torque converter transmission, or maybe you were on a really slippery road/tire? Had it just rained recently? because it looked like the road might have been damp? That can make a big difference in traction, some think that if you have AWD that kind of stuff doesn't matter but it does.

    Appreciate the effort but the testing itself is a little misleading. First many customers do run JB4 map3 on 93 octane, but more to the point the JB4 runs were up hill while the Lap3 runs were down hill. That's going to make a huge difference in the results.
