I heard from someone, actually from a qadiani (who was totally confused about his faith and i think he later became a muslim) that they’re told by their elders etc to act dumb when asked questions by ‘sunnis’. Basically act as if they aren’t knowledgable in whatever area is questioned.

When the prophet talked about the caeser and kesra he was talking about caeser and kesra in sham and iraq and persia, and that what happened, after their loss in Islamic lands they didn't return. What explains this is that the prophet said Allah cut akasira (kesra rule) from iraq and persia, and caeser and who came after him from sham. So the prophet was talking about their rule in sham, Iraq and Persia and truly it was their end in these regions and no one came after them there.

Ignorant so call sheiks like this misconstrued the Hadits to justify their own prejudice. Infact the Quran is superior to Hadits and it says.

It says say unto them something better or something similar of what they have said so wa ilkum is sufficient as a response here as per my little knowledge and this verse my dear brother.
Secondly there is this hadith too "inamal amaalu bin niyaat" the base of the act is upon the intent, if his intent was upfront which seems to be upfront then there is no harm for him in it. You'll have your reward and he will have his reward because both of you are correct in your intents.
