I agree with the swings. You can have super low or super high numbers but if it stays that way nothing will die. When there is a huge flux something will eventually struggle and die. It's just the way it is.
Great video with superb info. I have been looking for a Chanel that explains things in real English and now I found it and now also new sub just because you talk to us and not at us like so so many others do. Thanks so much I learn more from your one video then I have form Watching 7 beforehand 😀👍🏻
Just about to get started in the saltwater game, so far I have as followed... (70G Low Iron rimless tank, eShopps Sump, Aquamaxx Skimmer and Jebao Return. And a couple fans). If anyone reading this I would love your guys knowledge. Thanks for your time! 🙏🏽
What are the names of the Yellow Acro on the left uppermost side of the tank and the teal stag at the rear middle? I would like to purchase frags of those.
Thnx for video. I have been in this for 10 yrs..after many tanks I am rebuilding a working tank due to red bugs. I called some PHDs they said dose my red bug infestation with milbycin. It killed the red bugs but not the larvae or eggs. So I removed corals, qt...removed rock..removed sand..i lost over $2000 in coral. Like scolemia..hammer..brain coral...now I am making new rock...about to vacuum sump. I am very unlucky considering the knowledge, equipment... This pest was so destructive....now everything goes into QT TANK before the main display.
I want to add useful information in addition with this video General Acro guidelines: Good varied flow (multiple powerheads > one giant powerheads) Quality lighting (t5, led, halides, or whatever's in your budget) Stable Alkalinity (use reef calculator to monitor consumption over a week while testing and see how much alkalinity your tank needs daily) Filtration (good nutrient export method and stick to it) Stable salinity (find what works for YOU to keep fresh water topped off)
Unfortunately 'Table corals' weren't mentioned in this broadcast. Could I get your thoughts in relation to hardiness / success on those guys please? Cheers
I have a strawberry shortcake accropora and at first it wasn’t going to well wouldn’t colour up or anything just stayed really dark but now it looks stunning do you ship to the uk?
Kind of a newbie question but when you talk about keeping a stable environment, what fluctuations are acceptable in your opinion for all the various nutrients including salinity. A great looking tank and animals BTW!
Right now i cant even keep hammers without them doing polyp bailout. Crazy part is that not even the icp tests see anything bad except for a very high level of antimony which i dont even know what the hell is it.
Great video can and i ask with your light set up what intensity and height do you keep your radions at for acropora? I currently run 2 x xr15s with the ghl aquatic life hybrid at about 14inches trying to work out what would be best thanks
Thank you.... Beautiful, beautiful tank... and your sump is to die for.... Very neatly laid out. If i could offer some constructive criticism..... Plse dont talk quite so fast, especially when describing your equipment with its brand-name and model #s/design etc. Hard to keep up sometimes. Outstanding tank and congrats on your business success too! 👍🌴
Looking forward to seeing that 1000!! Been following along for quite some time until I had to do a tank reset. Anyways... what did you do for the t5 retro fits? I’m interested I’m doing a similar setup on my 125.. still in my cycle but looking forward to picking up some of ur frags!
I would go with a rock flower. They tend to move around less. Normally once they have a place they are happy they will stay there. If you get a bubble tip I would not glue any drags down so you can move them easily as it walks around until it gets settled.
Lol i cant even put birdsnest on my tank without it dying in less then a month 😂 but i am battling dinos though so maybe thats why. Funny thing is that im getting mad coralline growth since ive kept my alk cal and mag very stable. Im struggling keeping phosphates up due to dinos.
Lights dont have to be the most expensive equipment i use halides and i can grow any coral you can You can get a fixture for 60 90 bucks bulb for about 45 by the time it equals a led fixture its time for people with leds to upgrade cause led do loose power and burn out
What a waste of money. Maybe rather being in an expensive hobbies you can help feed the poor and hungry. Maybe can have a small reef aquarium for your personal satisfaction.
Sorry, but why do you actually care what hobbies people have? I seriously doubt you've ever donated a fraction of the money people spend on this hobby towards the poor and hungry.
Ryan O'Connell Just let the troll go back to his cave. Hobbies are entertainment, pure and simple, not some moral or ethical dilemmas involved. It’s stress relief during covid times.
Sorry @ M W and Ryan I never meant to hurt your feelings for the hobby which you are passionate about. There is no doubt that marine reef aquarium are awesome and takes a lot of hard work and time to set up. I did have one myself and just could not sustain due to the cost of maintenance involved and it was not even close to the one displayed in the above blog. However I do personally feel helping the poor brings more stress relief and peace with my personal experience. I wish you guys the best for your future endeavors and God keep you and your families safe from this pandemic.
Hey everyone here is a quick link to the beginner acropora pack on my site: fishofhex.com/collections/frag-packs/products/beginner-acropora-frag-pack
i will plaving my order asap!👍
What type anemone do you recommend for a reef tank?
That is beautiful on top and underneath. The plumping and hardware is artwork! The tank is...a work of art! Its intimidating in its perfection.
This is the video we have all been waiting for

I am on a mission to get a defenition of what "stable" parameters are. What are your thoughts?
Who in the fuck could dislike this video!?!?! Thanks for the info Travis!
Tanks looking ridiculously good!
What are the names of the Yellow Acro on the left uppermost side of the tank and the teal stag at the rear middle? I would like to purchase frags of those.
Hey Travis
I have a monti in my 180 that's finally growing. Is that an indication that I'm ready for sps or acro.

Fishofhex.com
I have high dKh (bad water), how much do you suggest dropping alk by and how often until I get it into a good range?
Unfortunately 'Table corals' weren't mentioned in this broadcast. Could I get your thoughts in relation to hardiness / success on those guys please? Cheers

I have a strawberry shortcake accropora and at first it wasn’t going to well wouldn’t colour up or anything just stayed really dark but now it looks stunning do you ship to the uk?
i just tried and failed with my nano tank which is hard to keep it stable, thanks for this vid.
wow that tank looks great... i can barely even see any rock... just wow :)

Yeah, I’m ready.
Right now i cant even keep hammers without them doing polyp bailout. Crazy part is that not even the icp tests see anything bad except for a very high level of antimony which i dont even know what the hell is it.
Good advice thanks!

Thanks for the video. Are you using ATI True Actinic along with the Blue + bulbs?
I lost a $40 frag from dipping a smooth skin acro
Looking forward to seeing that 1000!! Been following along for quite some time until I had to do a tank reset. Anyways... what did you do for the t5 retro fits? I’m interested I’m doing a similar setup on my 125.. still in my cycle but looking forward to picking up some of ur frags!
I have them over the 300 with xr15s
FishOfHex Aquatics do u have a video of how you did that? I saw one you made for the 125..
Hey Travis, what’s your experience been with the $500 Efflo? Is it rather hardy or delicate? Any tips?
What anemone do you recommend for a reef tank????

Great video! Yes the BioCube will support acro but it’s scary as f*** lol

In your case a good UV sterilizer might be the best purchase you'll do in the hobby :)
@@TattooedDancer91 Dino X is your friend. Once tt dino is out, you can focus on putting sps again.
@@nwyk153 wrong recipient. BUT I'm never using dinoX again. Before the dosage is strong enough, the acroporas start to recede. IME.
I want to start a reef with my 30 gallon fish but when they talk about calcium ph and sp it make me think twice. Coral are not cheap.
Gud vid homey
Cool tanks
Lights dont have to be the most expensive equipment i use halides and i can grow any coral you can
You can get a fixture for 60 90 bucks bulb for about 45 by the time it equals a led fixture its time for people with leds to upgrade cause led do loose power and burn out

Hahahaha nano and SPS is defintley a challenge. So much can go wrong so quickly it's not even funny.
I poured a little bit of left over water from a bottle to top of my tank not knowing it was Alkaline water 😓my zoas nearly died
just get cultivated Acopora you have more of a chance to keeping them alive lol
What a waste of money. Maybe rather being in an expensive hobbies you can help feed the poor and hungry.
Maybe can have a small reef aquarium for your personal satisfaction.
