Just so you know, being Monegasque, not French, Charles Le Clerc pronounces his name CH-ARL-ES L-CLER-CK.... as opposed to 'Charl le Cler... ' he said it is how it is how HE pronounces it.
Whilst French and Italian are both spoken in Monaco, almost EVERYONE speaks English, they are obliged to learn it in school for, I think it is 7 years.... (the same amount of time they must learn Monegasque.... the language of Monaco, which almost everyone in the country knows too, since it is mandatory for the last 7 years of their school education as well)
Due to the fact that English is such a common language, and often the lingua franca use when say, one the majority French speakers is speaking to one of the minority Italian speakers (even if one speaks the other language), an idiosyncrasy of how many Monegasques speak, is the use of English phonetic pronunciation even on French or Italian words.
Le Clerc just wound up not bothering to correct anyone after his first year in F1, because so many journalists went to great efforts to pronounce it the 'proper' French way, even though it is NOT how he actually pronounces it.
Side note: same thing with Daniel Ricciardo.... he pronounces his surname Rick-Ardoh.... not the 'correct' Italian way of Rish-i-Arr-Doh
