- Kristen Bell opened up to Ellen about her husband Dax Shepard's recent relapse after 16 years of sobriety. The star explained Dax's addiction to growing as a person, and how they decided to return to therapy. She assured Ellen that she is going to stand by him throughout his journey. Plus, Kristen talked about the recent passing of her dog Barbara. She also told Ellen about her daughters' idea of a well-rounded breakfast.

A general rule of thumb is, don’t add negativity. Life can already have so much negativity, no one needs someone to come in just to try and be a downer

Kristen is so down to earth and grounded and sweet. She is like a non celebrity celebrity.
Its worth listening to Dax come clean on his podcast. He's so vulnerable and honest. They are truly good examples of how honesty and growth in a marriage is so crucial. Love love 💘 these two.

That’s a strong woman and a strong man who isn’t threatened by it. For better or for worse - they inspire me to work through the worse to something better on the other side
I think it is wonderful that Dax's story is shared. There are so many out there going through the same thing. Recovery is not easy, relapses happen. Getting back on track is a hard but rewarding choice.
This is so similar to my husband who’s a recovering alcoholic. I so appreciate Kristen talking about the love and support families need when dealing with addiction.

As someone who struggles with substance abuse, I so appreciate when celebrities come out in the open with their battles. Shame is such a huge part of addiction and feeling like you’re the only one who could understand is part of the vicious cycle. A big thank you to Dax Shepard for being brave and sharing 🙌
I will forever stand by my husband through his sobriety and any future struggles. I'm so thankful she is bringing this to everyone's attention. Addiction targets one population: the human race.

I rescued a 7 yr. young Tibetan Terrier from an abused home 51/2 yrs. ago. He is the sweetest and most loving boy ever. I'm proud to be his guardian and embrace each and every day I get to spend with my Rascal. Senior dogs are worth saving and deserve a forever home that love them.

Senior dogs are great i rescued one from Louisiana 3 years ago and she was badly abused but is such a sweet heart can imagine anyone hurting her i saved her and she saved me during this pandemic she is my life and her name is Indigo and loves everyone and every animal
As a 2 year sobriety Survivor I cannot say enough how amazing. And Kristen Bell are these two are what we should all strive to be they put their faults out there and they tell the truth no matter how nasty it may be and they love each other at every end of every day how I'm losing we need more of you guys in this world for sure

I just lost my dog of 15 years today. I came across a clip on Ellen's instagram of them talking about amazon products. I figured it would make me happy after this long day of tears. It's hard to believe I'm hearing about Kristen mourning her dog just as I am right now. What a coincidence, huh?

really worth listening to all of Dax's pod Armchair expert but especially day 7 where he opens up about what he has been going through he's so emotionally intelligent and it was very moving found myself exhausted and breaking into tears at how isolated we can feel even when surrounded by love. love you Kristen, Monica, and Dax!

I love Kristen Bell! I really like her Momsplaining show. I'm curious to see how they have handled the pandemic and how they explain to kids that right now we aren't in a normal that we are used to.. But it might be a normal they have to grow up in. At least for the time being.

The world needs more Kristen Bells, and less Kardashian’s. She truly is amazing.
Kristen no one knows the heartache of trying to help a love one from addiction, God knows that our family tried for many years to save a family member we spent a lot of time, and money and even restricted him from his controlling his own finances. Many family members just gave up along the way. The bottom line is the HE MUST WANT TO DO THE WORK and not expect others to toll HIS line. When he realized that he had no one to turn to he was homeless when he reached out, now he is six years clean and sober. They Must want it and willing to do the work and not expect others to do it for them.
Kristen sure has alot more on her plate. I hope shes able to give Dax many happy endings.

I commend Dax for owning up to his relapse and taking responsibility for it. My daughters are 6 and 4 and I put a bowl of dry cereal and a cup of water 💧 on their spots at the table every evening so when they get up the next morning they can eat and I can sleep in a little

I love Kristin and Dax, but I have dealt with family members who are drug addicts and relapsed. My concern is Dax and Kristin make the addiction and relapse look “too good” and sound way too positive. Most drug addicts cause so much chaos and harm. The majority of drug addicts will never look or act like Dax Shepard.
I agree with what you’re saying but I also think it’s important for addicts and their families to see that it is possible to find sobriety and live a full and beautiful life. Also, being honest about relapsing will help remove the stigma and provide a more realistic perspective that yes, addicts do relapse. I listen to Dax’s podcast and honestly I think he has been very clear that he works very hard to maintain sobriety and truly does put in the works of going to meetings and a lot of self-reflection. Definitely don’t want anyone to glamorize addiction but I think Dax & Kristen are pretty open about how challenging addiction is too.
That's his own path though. There are addicts in recovery that look and act like him even if they relapse. I'm sure he doesn't want the world seeing him cry.
