I was using it all wrong! Thank you so much! Just made my pole lathe 3 days ago and it started raining on me. I used it today to make a small goblet. First time on a lathe and it took me 4 hours using hand carving chisel's. I had so much fun, can't wait for some sunshine!

Thanks for this! I just built a pole lathe, and am finding that the skew and I don't get along. I might be trying to take too heavy/wide a cut seeing the shavings you're making. If you don't mind, how do you keep your screw driven center from loosening? Mine is installed with a single nut set into the poppet, then a little toggle shaped piece of wood is used to advance it. Should I put another bolt on the other side of the poppet maybe?

I use an electric lathe but I have Ashley Isle tools, they are excellent value for money.
