- Periyazhwar, one of the twelve Azhwars of Sri Vaishnava Sampradhayam, born in Srivilliputhur near Madurai, in the tamil month of Aani under the nakshatram Swathi, has composed a total of 473 pasurams known as Periyazhwar Thirumozhi, in the praise of Lord Vishnu. He was an amsam of Garuda and was named Vishnuchittha.
On the occasion of Periyazhwar's Thirunakshatram a small composition of Periyazhwar Thirumozhi [3.9.1 to 3.9.11] is presented in musical form.
The Azhwar thaniyans are sung in the following ragams :
1) Arabhi
2) Thodi
3) Saranga
