    It's easy to search for items online instead of potentially walking in circles in physical stores

      Its true, as a small business owner I prefer to buy my leather from online instead of going around the city and wasting the gas money

    It is the excitement of getting a wrapped parcel in the post. A bit like getting a gift from Santa Claus although in this case you were actually the Santa Claus.

    It still depends on what you're getting. For instance, if I need to get groceries, I would prefer to head down to the supermarket rather than shop on online platforms that requires me to minimally spend at least $50 to have free delivery. If you're getting fruits, you're not sure whether the picker will choose the freshest one for you. Another thing to note about this is that sometimes online does not have a specific item that I usually can find at stores, so it's not possible to spend 100% online at this moment.

    No one's comparing the environmental costs for both online and offline. There's definitely more packaging and single-use trash from online deliveries

    Yes definitely more time and cost efficient buying online-just practice some self control to prevent buying extra stuff that you don’t need!

    I like how they just dismiss cheaper electronics as refurbished goods. They don't want to mention parallel imports because that is the single biggest threat eating into their local profits. They can have amazing products pushed by the most strategic and effective ads but it doesn't matter if the item checked out from the cart is a parallel import. And as more ppl shop online, they stand to lose more sales revenue than ever.

    I usually separate online shopping and physical shops into two categories. For online shops, mostly buy cheap electronics accessories, home decorating items, shoes(if you are certain with your size), bags, pet accessories/pet food, toiletries or shampoos that you can't find at your local pharmacies. For physical stores, obviously, any living thing like plants and pet fish/reptile/birds, clothes(because you get to try it out before purchase), workout tools, musical instruments, large expensive electronics, pc/laptop, smartphones, jewelry.

    I wonder if anyone thought about the extra packaging and the delivery trucks going around singapore adding more carbon emission to the environment. I m striving to be a minimalist and not to buy things that I don’t need. After moving from 4 bedroom to 2 bedroom apartment to a better location, I started to declutter and realised I only need a few things to get on with life. Better buy more bonds and stocks that gives me returns than have tons of things at home that I might not need at all.

    Missing: (1) A lot of the sale prices are not real! One store's 80% off is another store's regular price. Especially those phony flash sales. (2) A lot of fake products even with good reviews! Ex. External hard drive that's actually a usb drive inside (3) A lot of grey market items without local warranty because not imported through official channels. [This is the way it is in Indonesia. Maybe different in Singapore.]

    • @sunlightdavid
      @sunlightdavid 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the same here. There are such fake listings everywhere. They don't have to just sell to one market because the internet has no borders. The more people to cheat, the merrier. And you're right! This documentary glossed over so many more important things. It feels more like an advertorial. I think clicknetwork's recent video on e-commerce scams was better produced.
