    Do you know what I love most about Roly? He’s said multiple times that he doesn’t like children yet he STILL has more compassion for babies crying than their own mothers do. That was hard to hear with a 20 month old 😭

      Me and my Dad had to convince his babymama not to pierce my little sisters ears and she just turned 2.( We have nothing against piercings I have snakebites and stretched ears/septum and my dad has his ear and lip pierced) But since she was born his babymama wanted to get her ears pierced and me and my dad had to explain that my little sister should be able to make the decision for herself... even if it's when she's 5 she'll be able to at least consent to it. 💀
      Edit: forgot she wanted to take her to Claire's too and me and my dad were like NO.

      My 5 year old has said multiple times she doesn’t know if she wants piercings like her mommy (snakebites, septum, stretched ears). I told her she can wear clip ons until she’s 80 years old. I want her to choose her piercings or lack of any. I’m happy as long as she is. I will never understand people piercing children’s ears without their consent. Makes me sick! 😢

    When my baby was born, they had to spend the first month in NICU.
    By the time they came home, they were terrified of people and for the next 8 months, I was the only person that could hold them.
    Those experiences absolutely stuck with them and had a real impact.
    You're totally, 100% right, it doesn't make a difference whether a child is "too young to remember."

    • @flixtrue6300
      @flixtrue6300 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hope they are happy and growing ❤
      It’s absolutely true: ‘to young to remember applies only for funny stuff, trauma goes deep.
      I did have my daughters ears pierced by a gun when 4 months old: no problem at all, a face like ‘wtf are you doing’ and that’s it. 2 min later she was chilling with a bottle and going to sleep. Never any problem. Ofcourse we kept it clean. We did it with 4 months because she actually had an ear to pierce, and not older so she didn’t pull it off or eat it / irritating it (she never touched it, and was not a type of child touching everything or put everything in her mouth)… I understand people are against it, when I see that baby cry I’m totally against it too. It’s cruel to pierce young kids twice, with a gun (not saying this is good at all, it’s a choice!!!) they pierce 2 at the same time.

    • @SteffiHenri1992
      @SteffiHenri1992 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@flixtrue6300wait, so your justification is your baby was younger therefore it’s suddenly ok? Even after all these videos explaining how bad guns are compared to needles and that babies ears will grow and the piercing now could end up looking awful in future? Who did you pierce her for? Because it certainly wasn’t for her.

    My horror story was actually for a retired piercing. I had retired my navel piercing about 5/6 months before and I was missing it, it still looked healthy so I went to my piercing studio and asked about it. They said that they would try to stretch it back open and if it had healed over they would repierce it. They went in with a metal taper and kind of “hit a wall”. Turns out it had healed over a bit and they just pushed the blunt taper through this bit of skin and it make a crunchy pop sound as it went though. It was more painful than the original piercing and luckily I haven’t had any issues with it and the whole piercing is like 8 years old now

    • @j3ttagrl420
      @j3ttagrl420 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      GAAAHHH!!! 😩 that must have hurt soooo bad!! when I was younger, I was having trouble getting my belly ring through. so I went back to the shop and they used a taper (which I think would have been enough) but then she put this big ass taper through and yeah, just like you, it hurt more than getting it pierced. yours was on a way different level, though!! 💕

    Ok, body piercer here!
    In regards to the lip being done with a retainer, that's a HARD NO for me!
    Retainers should only be used in fully healed piercings because the plastic is porous and a fresh wound has a chance of fusing to the jewelry, and it'll never heal correctly.
    I only use titanium in initial piercings because the smooth polish on the metal makes for an ideal surface to heal tissue around.
    Even healed, retainers should only be worn for short periods of time (like if you're having surgery or an MRI) because they can hang on to bacteria, being porous plastic.
    The only exception is glass retainers for nostrils. Those can be worn longer, but cautiously!

    • @arencolewaugh311
      @arencolewaugh311 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I wish you were my piercer, I was pierced with retainers for my snake bites, and its super hard to heal them, cause to account for the swelling they were longer, and if you bite them while eating they start getting folded, and squished after the 3rd time, and they become jagged which HURTS

    • @heatherbishop7104
      @heatherbishop7104 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arencolewaugh311 Oh man, I bet! My only personal experience is with my traditional labret, but I can't count how many times my teeth caught it with the longer initial jewelry. You'd absolutely destroy a retainer that way. If you haven't already I highly suggest getting some titanium labrets in there! Make sure the disc on the inside is 4mm or 5mm and the post is the correct gauge (usually 16g or 14g) and length (I start with a 7/16" or 11mm post for initial swelling).
      So many people think shoving needles through skin makes you a piercer, but there's so much more knowledge you need to back it up.

      @@heatherbishop7104 it was a while ago I’ve had hoops in since I was allowed to, mainly cause they get in the way less cause where I was pierced was a pretty thin area, but that might just be my anatomy

    • @charliebutler-cv3hc
      @charliebutler-cv3hc ปีที่แล้ว

      Why only wear glass retainers in nostrils with caution? Easier to fall out?

    • @heatherbishop7104
      @heatherbishop7104 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@charliebutler-cv3hc Depends on the style. Most glass jewelry for nostrils are the L-bar style. Some are what's called a "nose bone" with just a little knob on the end holding it in place. Those tend to get lost more easily no matter the material.
      But I say be cautious with glass simply because it's glass. Borosilicate glass is ideal and stronger, but it is still glass at the end of the day.

    Something nos spoken of with piercings is that sometimes whether you like it or not, sometimes your body WILL reject a piercing and if it does that... you SHOULDN'T force/keep it.. bodies are different and know what they will accept. I once had 10 piercing but my body rejected almost all of them no matter how well I cared for them, and now I only have 4. If you body doesn't want something.. listen to it and don't force anything onto it🙏🏼

    Roly I just discovered your channel yesterday & I’m hooked! I can clearly see there is less common sense in the world than I first thought 😂
    I agree with you on everything and the lengthens some people will go to, my god what are they thinking?
    I had my Septum pierced in my tattoo studio two days ago… not only did I have to fill out a full medical form with all my conditions, but all the medication I was on aswell. Then the lady explained what was going to happen before the piercing and asked if I still wanted to go ahead. She showed me how they clean all the equipment, how the methods she uses are safe & photos of people she has done. She even helped with my blood sugar when it dropped & gave me a drink with sugar in. She done it in my time, let me have breaks when I needed to, kept me calm. At the end she gave me a free sterile wound wash cleaning kit & it’s actually used by medical staff to wash out wounds in A& E….
    I then have to go back next week so she can check how it is healing, so to me that’s very professional.
    I made the mistake when I was a lot younger of going to claires & Blue Banana as I was uneducated back then. I got non of this with them it was just pierced, off you go & clean it with salt water 🤦🏻‍♀️
    Videos like yours really show the dangers of not going to a professional but with a lot of humour… so thank you 😊

I had piercings done with a gun way back when they were nothing but trouble. I also think I was allergic to silver and gold jewelry. Now I have piercings made by an actual piercer and titanium bars. I got them on monday and so far I have no pain, itching or anything. Totally different from the ones before. The piercer said one of them wasn't in the right place. The other one was pierced through the former spot. Also, that piercer has had enough of people being dramatic for camera. 😃 They had a strict do not film rule and only kids can have a support person. If you can't handle it without someone holding your hand, get out.

    That poor baby 😞 😢 I have a two year old daughter and another girl otw and I would never piers my daughters ears until they can talk and tell me that they want it done. I've heard other mothers trying to compare getting your babies ears pierced to them getting a vaccine what makes me so sick to hear and how people have no common sense anymore smh

    I just got my nostril pierced a week ago. I've sprayed and used a cotton tip to gently clean twice a day and it's perfectly clean 😂 there's no hack. I get what roly means about how can people's piercings be so dirty. Also the place I got pierced was a proper tattoo pirecing shop with great reviews. But they asked if I wanted a hoop or bar. Thanks to you I knew to get a bar, otherwise the place was great.

      Ikr! I got my daith pierced 2 months ago and ritually clean it every single night, whether I feel like it or not. Make sure there’s no hair or crusties, and it takes literally 30 seconds! I don’t get how some people can get a piercing and just not clean it but still expect to keep it?

    I love these videos they remind me why i never get more piercings. I may not squirm but i'm also terrified of needles and cleanliness standards and my body rejecting or being allergic to jewelry (nickel allergies are hell). These videos also remind me of getting my lower lobes pierced at claires and how many times they had to be repierced due to many issues on top of one ripping so much there's a visible indent in my ear to this day. Sometimes i wish i could get them fixed and start from scratch just not a claires, with a piercing gun, or anything with nickel or says "hypoallergenic" cause that's a lie too

    I'm not so sure people assume someone with nipple piercings is good at sex, but some will definitely assume that you have a lot of sex. I've had people entirely shook at the fact that I have mine done for non-sexual reasons (I'm ace and just like them) People associate them with sex a lot. I'm laughing trying to figure out how nipple piercings are supposed to make you good at sex, that's so silly 😂 Mentally ill, yes. Sex, no. Honestly same though, good for him.

    Like watching the double eyebrow piercing and then realizing how much they bled, I have mine done and it's so crazy. I've never personally pooled blood like a blood bank but it's really crazy seeing how some people bleed. Also realizing how short lived most eyebrow piercings are it's crazy, again personally I've had my eyebrow piercing for near ten plus years I suppose everyone is different during the healing process. Also mildly insane people don't know how to clean their piercings, it's really not that hard. Still blows my mind.

    You are right with children Roly. You may not consciously remember it, but at this time the brain is developing faster than at any other point in a childs life, these experiences are formative, the brain is adaptive and it is just figuring out how to adapt to a strange environment and positive stimuli are important. Babies imprint on their caregivers strongly, they rely on you, when you harm them or abandon them, or neglect them it is damaging. Screw culture and screw religion, you do not pierce, cut or mark a baby, some cultures and rituals need to be abandoned. It is child abuse.
    Until a child is capable of understanding the procedure, committing to aftercare and expresses a spontaneous interest in it, ear lobes should be left alone, cartilage/nose piercings 14, tattoos- all other modfications: body piercings, tattoos, surgery, etc. Only when you are 18 and only with YOUR consent, unless it is medically necessary. As a society, we must protect vulnerable people, few people are more vulnerable than children. We must stop unnecessary piercing and cutting of babies!

    I will never understand people that let their piercings get so damn nasty. It's not that hard to keep them clean. That one with the hair wrapped around it was horktastic 🤢. Edit: Hearing that poor baby just broke my heart. Several years ago I had to go to the mall (eww) and walked by Claire's (not sure if you have Claire's in the UK, but the store sells teen/alt jewelry) and was able to stop two parents who were about to have their baby's ears pierced with a nasty piercing gun. The salesperson was so pissed...worth it.
