the clip that was shown with stay stitch was actually understitching. That is also another mistake to avoid. Love your content. I'm a veteran sewist and still love listening to you. You are a gifted teacher.
OMG! You are so pretty, your face caught my eye because you look identical to my mother when she was in her 20's. I have been sewing for over 40 years and yesterday, I just sewed the zipper in my skirt wrong 4 times in a row, because I was just not paying attention!
My teacher taught me to always understitch (or staystitch in this case) neck lines and parts where the fabric needs to be folded under another, I love the look of understitched fabric, they look so pro!
Thank you. Appreciate your sewing awareness video. You have beautiful skin. Continue to take care of it and if you have some tips on skin care we will love you to share
I relate to all the mistakes some more often than others!! but I had never thought of using the cutting wheel to cut out a pattern thank you for giving me that tip !
From time to time I have the pleasure to teach my god daughter in sewing. Yesterday we made a zipper pouch and of course with mistakes and use of seam ripper. But I think the biggest lesson was, that this is not the end of the world, how to fix it and do better next time.
One thing I've found is that German/EU sizes seem to be less different from the pattern size (certainly for UK), so if your (in my case) UK size is usually 18, this tends to correlate to an EU 46, but when you look at the pattern, the EU 46 corresponds more to a pattern 20... (for one of the major manufacturers). Not so good for the ego, but a quick place to start from!
if the neckline is smaller than your head you need that neckline to retain it's stretchiness to get it on and off. like turtlenecks, mock necks, and crew necks.
Very good tips. I have done many of these, I think the pin I forgot got sewn into a waistband or something lol. I like your message at the end too, my daughter is creative in painting/drawing but gets frustrated a lot and I tell her how many mistakes I make and how even now I am still learning something everyday If only I had youtube when I was learning, coulda watched this (and many others) and learned not to make these mistakes hahaha.
I’ve always seen (some) sewers sew with the pins still attached to the fabric and wonder how they manage to do this without ruining their machine 😱. I have developed a fear of cutting out the sewing pattern after making some leggings and getting the size wrong 😑 x
Ha.. I have a piece I sewed onto the bodice inside out.. if mistakes were an Olympic sport I would definitely be getting one of those medals :) It is the way I learn best, fixing my own boo boos. :)
@@JulietUzor_ The skirt looked great.. then I noticed the side seams were inside looking out.. and it is a knit.. so I had to set it aside for the evening. :) I deal with chronic health issues and one of the ways I know it is time to take a break is when I make foolish mistakes after spending a great deal of time first trying to avoid. At that point I know I am not at my best and it is time to think about other things for a few hours at least LOL. Once I started doing that, I have found I have much less anxiety about errors, and so, make fewer of them due to over thinking (which is how I got an inside out skirt piece LOL). Today is another day.. and it was meant to be a wearable muslin, so it is all good, but it took me almost a year of aggravation before I figured out: "Pain and fatigue and not friends of the sewist" and instead of powering through, I let it go for a while. Not sure if you deal with chronic issues.. but maybe some of your viewers need to hear this. :) Love watching your videos!!

You’re right! I don’t bother looking at sizes these days. I just focus on body measurements
Thank you for this sermon. I was laughing and saying preach.
Christine White 🤣🤣🤣 never did I think I’ll be in the same sentence with sermon. Love love love it!!! 🤣
Is it advisable to add interfacing to stretchy fabric on the neckline
Queen Elena it totally depends on the style of the neckline and the weight of the fabric.
if the neckline is smaller than your head you need that neckline to retain it's stretchiness to get it on and off. like turtlenecks, mock necks, and crew necks.
i like your outfit in this video pls what pattern is it ?
Ehiremen Uduoise thanks so much. I did the pattern hack in this video th-cam.com/video/6PzM5IjvfB4/w-d-xo.html
@@JulietUzor_ thank you
You’re most definitely welcome
I always sew over pins. To avoid the needle hitting the pin, I sew slowly so the needle jumps over the pin then I continue till I get to the next pin
Aha! This makes sense. Slow down and the needle would slide across the pins. Hmmm... nice one
Yes I suscribed.
Oh wow. thanks so much
Looking good
Thanks so much
I’ve been sewing for sixty years. I always grade my seams and trim corners, it looks more professional.
You’re absolutely right!
