I've been sewing since I was 5 when my mom taught me to make doll clothes on her sewing machine, but I've never made my own panties--and I'm 76 now! I think it's important, for health reasons, to have the crotch piece which faces the skin, be made of 100% cotton. Also, I'm thinking about making panties to coordinate the dresses I make.
I was wondering what type of material she used for the inside crotch area.

Wash your undies and delicates in a mesh laundry bag. They will last forever. I have been sewing for over 60 years but be buggered if I'd bother making my own undies.😆

A few tips: 1. Pin the original to the fabric you're cutting, and draw (pencil or chalk) the allowance all around. Cut with the pins in, this keeps fabric from shifting. 2. When placing pins for sewing, place them perpendicular to the stitch line. That way you can leave the pins in as you sew and remove them after, which keeps the fabric from shifting. 3. For most fabrics there's one side that's stretchier than the other, you need to take that into account when arranging pattern pieces and sewing up garments.

I, personally, use nearly never chalk. My eye measurement is pretty good. And if so you don't need it. 😉 just a time and material saver.

I just made my first ever under garments for myself using this tutorial and they turned out so cute!!! I can't thank you enough for this super easy tutorial and I am already planning to slowly start replacing all my old under things with handmade ones as I can. I may have screwed up on my practice piece by having the stretch of the fabric laid the wrong way *oops lol* but that's what a practice piece is for. Once I fixed it with my new cutout, sewing these was a breeze

да и окантовочная бейка притачивается сначала, а потом уже боковые швы

They couldve made like 500,000 in their life if they did it for 10-15 years , at a rate of 100 pairs per day. If i had to guess, id say after making around 5,000-10,000 pairs its got to become pretty easy

I've been searching for a how to sew under ware tutorial and I finally found a decent one. Thank you. I can't tell you how many porn rabbit hole searches popped up when searching for this tutorial. Thank you. I knew it I should of gone to youtube first. Things are getting expensive I am def going back to making htis stuff from scratch. We made a lot of stuff growing up from scratch and with how expensvie things are I am def going back to this.

I guess the pattern you have bought is more durable and comfortable in wear. because I don't like the type of slip is used in the video, it's uncomfortable. and it won't stay at the hips.

@@welginfathima9739 She used elasticized cotton, but she would sew the bias tape in the waist to make a drawstring and insert a 1/4" elastic band, for better fit. You can go to a fabric and accessory store.
@@nenareyes2755 Mi madre utilizaba algodón elastizado, y la cinta de bies de la cintura (las orillas) la cosía en forma de jareta o canaleta para introducir un elástico de aproximadamente 1/4 de pulgada, para que quedara mas ajustado en la cintura (diferente al video). Hay tiendas de telas que venden todo tipo de géneros, y algunas tienen un área de merecería y accesorios. Preguntar por "cinta de bies elastizada".

A stretchy cotton tee will do just fine if you can't find underwear fabric.

Be sure to use the correct needle when sewing these cotton knit fabrics....makes a difference!

The term wouldn't have appeared in print, since discussing men's or women's "underwear" was taboo; underwear was considered and referred to as "unmentionables". If she only heard the word "drawers" discussed in hushed tones, do you think she simply wrote what she thought she heard? During the 13 years that I lived in New Jersey, it never ceased to amaze me to hear well educated professionals refer to one of the drawers in a chest of drawers furniture piece as simply "the draw".

@@thelastminmom5251 Nah sewing is actually pretty simple, especially with a simple design like underwear. You just have to take it step by step and don't expect it to be quick when you first start out. Speed and efficiency comes with practice.
And we could use tshirts we already have!

Awesome! I had my body 3D scanned and now I use the model in Marvelous Designer to design cool pyjamas for myself.
What service did you use?
@@KrystleGrygo I went to a local 3d scanning shop, they used a handheld Shining 3D EinScan. The usual body scan shops use(photogrammetry) is of low quality(they print figurines), this scanner is mainly used for automotive parts so the scan is highly detailed. But if you had something like an MRI of your body you could use that to convert to a 3d model. In this case you can use a free program like RadiAnt dicom viewer to generate the mesh and then export it to .stl.

В принципе так можно, но ластовицу пришивать нужно иначе:складывать лицевыми сторонами друг к другу, стачать и вывернуть.
В данном случае она пришивается так, потому что у основной детали она не отрезная
@@user-fe3ze9ns6y неотрезную тоже можно сшить лицевой к лицевой - по сути это труба, будет не очень удобно, конечно, но можно сделать без шва внутри. Хотя зачем :)
Чесскать, вообще не понимаю, ради чего эта морока? Самые простые новые трусы стоят дешевле, чем ткань и время, потраченное на их шитье
@@sottovoce_24, и живут до второй стирки)) нет, в целом, я согласна, что на стандартный размер проще купить. Но дамам с особенностями фигуры или тем, кто "не влезает в обруч" купить красивое хлопковое белье уже целый квест. Сшить при наличии машинки и минимальных навыках десяток подходящих трусиков по одной выкройке точно быстрее, чем двое суток просматривать десятки страниц вайлдберриз и озон в поисках той самой модели. И точно дешевле))
@@krakozabra, а зачем каждый раз высматривать по два дня?) Достаточно добавить товар в закладки и после просто покупать по мере надобности. Ткань, нитки, резинки, время, потраченное на работу - не думаю, что это стоит меньше)

I started sewing at the age of 13 and could design and sew my own dresses, skirts and blouses. That was when I got used to buying suitable fabric and sending fabric patterns for overlocking before machining the garment pattern pieces together. I am 7and p0 today and still sewing for friends

Thank You So Much for doing this video. I love to sew but I really can't make anything but pillow cases. I am Able to sew Straight Lines and I know a little bit more now about the material I will need to TRY to attempt this project. This simple little video really brightened my day and makes even Me think I could make my own pretty panties. I'm very thankful. Much Appreciated ! Sincerely.
If you can sew in a straight line, you can use a machine, and also learn curves, you just go slower and ease the fabric round gently with your hands as you sew slowly. Do some practice curves on some leftover fabric first, to get the idea of curving. Like everything else once you done it, you'll wonder why it took you so long. ps pillow cases are not so easy, you have already done corners...

You worked really hard to keep this speed without break in more than 8 hours to produce 100 pieces. Without editing, real work.
На 100 шт суток не хватит., Если на 1 трусы 15 минут хотя бы тратить.
Production work, cut everything out at once, sew them one step at a time rather than start to finish each piece, etc. Quilters do something called chain piecing, stitching all of one step at a time. It saves huge, huge amounts time. 100 in a day is not unreasonable if you know what you are doing and do it in as time saving a way as you can.
Я сама шью, профессионал, и скажу, что нереально сшить 100 таких трусиков в день, бред, она их кроить будет дня1, 5-2,а потом еще шить дня 3 - 4
Абсолютно согласна, тоже шью, и в 20 году шила маски на продажу 100шт. максимум получалось, а тут трусы. И в названии пишет не портной, а швейная машина, специальная, для трикотажа...

Вот поэтому и обесценен труд портного, кто- то думает , что платье можно за полдня сшить, можно и 10 корявых с 2- мя швами швеёй на потоке, одна вчера написала в ВК пост, что ее попросили сшить 400 топов по 45 р🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️, говорят еще по 15 р платят, и ведь соглашаются шить..Я работаю на себя, индпошив, 26лет, благодарна всем своим клиенткам, что ценят мою работу, 100 трусов за день вот так вручную кроить в один слой ножницами..а что не 1000 сразу🤣🤣

Ластовица пришита прямострочкой, этот шов не эластичен
Не учтено, что у разных тканей разная растяжимость. Это самое главное. Ща какая-нибудь хозяюшка возьмет трусы из гипюра и раскроит новые на хб кулирке. И последние не налезут. Потому что растяжимость иная

Насчёт 100а трусиков в день большие сомнения))) даже смешно. Да и кому нужны непрофессионально сшитые трусы на бытовой машине.
Ну на бытовой, я поспорю, сшить можно, а то что не качественно, то да, швы должны быть по идее закрыты и ластовица пришита так себе - швы должны быть внутри, на бытовой я шила нижнее бельё, достаточно прямой строчки и зиг-зага (прерывистого или обычного)

As a seamstress, I am sure you cut cardboard patterns of the front and back sections of the panties and made a seam at the crotch.
And made a cardboard of the added crotch layer.
Then one could lay out the pattern on the fabric and use every bit.
