Not really. Under the Articles of Confederation, states had the right to regulate Indian affairs, and this led to a host of problems. So, one of the reforms in the US Constitution was to restrict the regulation of Indian nations to the federal government (apart from the tribal governments, of course). So, the justices aren't making a broader argument about race; they are saying that the tribes have certain protections under the Constitution and Congress had the authority to make a law protecting Indians from interference by state governments.

I'm frankly not surprised by this outcome, particularly Gorusch's participation. If you look at his time on the bench, everytime Native American issues have come before the court he has sided WITH the Tribes
Good morning everyone
A great move from the Roberts Court which had only a decade earlier ruled against the Voting Rights Act as if preclearance had arisen out of a vacuum so they could claim it was “not conducive to current needs”.
they said russia took ukrainians kids away. now i know where they learned that from, America!
Hurrah... finally respect for native people
This is not "respect"
You won't see this on mainstream news.
Wasn’t worried much. Glad for outcome.
Finally! Hurray!
👍
YESSS!!!! 🤩
It's time for us to receive reparations and sovereignty as well .
This has happened to Black American children in 2000
For over two hundred years, in America.
how about upholding treaties?
Terrorist organizations do not uphold their word.
It needs to be noted that Gibson Dunn is the law firm that was appointed to prosecute Steven Donziger. Interesting to see them pop up again on the wrong side of a case relating to Tribal Sovereignty.
Set Up A Shoulin Monestry!!! @shi Heng Yi
Indian native will be able to adopt or given first choice.
❤God bless ❤
💘💘💘
Just adopt them to Asian families👍🏿💯💯💯
If corporate lawyers are representing nonnative clients then that means they are following ambulances, which would never want A.I. to input legal library correctly into AI data banks, so the outcome could take in consideration real laws, constitutional, state--historical set up, rather than monies convoluted self interest.
And this system Department of Human services is not supposed to take money for adoption either.
Dear latching I like to tell you guys that American Indian is the first people who live in the us
We lived here LONG before the settlers called it their "US"
WOW!….hopefully the dark copper colored indigenous North America Indian is next!!!
Love for my sister wont change
Why are blaming "conservatives". Name names and talk about them instead of painting with a broad brush. There's a big difference between politics and citizens and both sides of the aisle are at fault for doing wrong and misguided things.
Can someone please tell me for someone who does not know I visited the United States in 2019 and when I went to Walmart in page, Utah they had a wall full of photos of Native American kids that were missing now where they missing or did they Run away just wondering?????
You would be shocked to know how many Native Americans go missing, especially women and girls. There are thousands and thousands of missing and murdered Native American women and girls and no one bothers looking into the crimes or looking for them. The US acts like they care, but they still don't.
They are not running away. They are being stolen, murdered and or sold into the sex trade.... No. The answer to your question is no, no one cares.
Why the deception? Why substitute fascism for conservatism? Surely it’s plain to see, that a certain “Conservative” party has a large number identifiable characteristics with the Fascist ideology.
Why would people ever be removing Native kids from their families. What kind of sickness qas rhat😅😅😅
Because their parents are drunk, drug addict and abusive.
The gifts for fighting for the Confederacy and black slavery.
Couldn't u use these same arguments to justify affirmative action? I'm confused
They avoided the race question entirely
Hope...somewhat restored
There is no hope within settler colonialism.
I just happen to be Pocohontos and Ida. It did not just happen yesterday. My sovereignty was violated last night when Lying Larry had the DMPD and that girl and gay cowboy stole my bag with my laundry in it.
We get crumbs and call it a victory
Not all of us call this a victory.
Beware of where u receive your knowledge and from who.
To clarence thomas, clearly you are ignorant of american history. ALL of the lands -- let me repeat -- ALL of what is now called the "united states" is "Indian Land." Prior to colonization TRIBES covered every inch of what is now known as the "united states." Just because the lands were stolen from the Tribes does not mean they are no longer Indian Land. LEARN the history of what is now called the "united states" before you spew lies, clarence thomas.
Which indians? The black ones that were killed off thx to mongols who invaded these lands from Russia?
Why would anyone do this to kids.
It's been occurring for hundreds of thousands of years.
White people do this to maintain their genocidal occupation of the Americas.

I was adopted.
The emotional, mental, physical and verbal abuse started on the first day.
Waiting to have my adoption nullified. To be emancipated.
I am not disputing the legal system/judge's decision to have me removed from the first group of people.
Nor do I want that custody or authority to be given back to my biological relatives or their relatives.
I am in need of a lawyer to represent me. I am okay with going to the United States Supreme Court. This is as important as: Brown vs The Board of Education.
____
Needed Federal Legislation.
Adoption Nullification Act:
Allowing adopted people to have their adoption nullified. To be emancipated. Regardless of their age.
This would be an Ammendment to the Emancipation Proclamation.
____
Had there been federal legislation, I would have had my adoption nullified decades ago. And wouldn't have had to post this information.
I have written many Articles on International judiciary system
Hardvard Law school
Would give me law degree
Oxford University of law
Would give me
Doctorate in law
Now they need to find the 18,000 missing migrant children
Its a start
If Native American children are not fostered within their tribe, then what happens? In the name of sovereignty, children are ignored.
Do not speak in colonial oppressive lies. Leave those with your dead ancestors, relative. They have done enough. Consider that evil work accomplished.
and don't even get me get started on the transgender kids! Jeeez!
What happens if the child isn't in roll in the tribe. What happens then
People who are not citizens of Indian nations are settlers. Only a sovereign nation declaring citizenship is what makes an Indian child. Everyone else here on Indian lands is a colonial settler.
First off, native people aren't from India, never have been...2nd, how does the supreme court have authority over sovereign native nations?
The United States Supreme Court is providing legal representation, to those who don't.
The United States Supreme Court understands, that minorities don't always have legal representation.
First off there is no country called India in any place in history. They were called Indian because natives were black skin
We know we're from here, relative. We need no reminder. We are known as Indians, regardless...... It's a long Genocidal, oppressive story.
The settler colonial "supreme court" your terrorist organization holds, believes it's authority comes from their false god whom they call "Jesus Christ." They use his doctrine of "discovery" to claim it.
@0:27 NO YOUR SCARED TO. -blk/ blkfeet 54yr fem
Sorry, what do you mean by "white families", "white people" ...???
The state rarely follows the law..
President Donald Trump's administration APPOINTED SUPREME COURT JUDGES.
