Respect that you put that in the video of you missing an interval. I know that’s tough but I’m glad you came back strong. That will pay off in your marathon. Great job Luis
Hey Luis, greetings from germany. After 7 years I started to do triathlon again. In my younger ages ( 15-18 ) I was well trained. Swimming works good, cycling aswell but my legs don't remember my former running shape. Even though you are no triathlon coach I would love to hear 1-2 key tips for running a good 10k again. Maybe a key intervall training, key long runs or what so ever. I also welcome comments from the community! So feel free to help me :P Keep up the impressive work, it's more than interesting! Cheers, Fabi
Hey!! A lot goes behind a solid 10k but one of my favorite workouts is 7-10 x 1K starting a bit slower than 10k goal pace and finishing a bit faster!! Good luck with your training!
Again great video!! Even the sound of that workout is intimidating with only 1 minute recovery!!! Congrats on pushing through and getting it done even if you missed one!!
I love watching the content filmed in Kenya. Thank you so much for filming and getting the locals to share their stories. Seeing a community of runners come together to push themselves is beautiful! I am interested to know who funds these tracks in Kenya, and who is responsible for the repairs and maintenance? Great job Luis. Adam
Thanks so much Adam! It's been a great adventure. For the track it depends, the government, but also other athletes contribute funds to them like Kipchoge himself.
Met you at the buenos aires marathon in 2019… really cool to see you training and competing in a such high level!
Great video mate, fantastic stuff, the speed is insane. Let's hope Sammies injury is not to serious. I so enjoy watching your video blogs, it the best. 👍👍👍👍👍
Recently found this series after reading Running with the Kenyans, and I love the content - it's super motivating and gives some really good inspiration for workouts! Also the production is awesome, what a great way to really see how it goes down in Kenya! Would love to see you visit somewhere else famed for running with a similar series, Luis. Maybe Ethiopia?
I think in places like this, where running is the main sport, it's almost necessary to build a second track around the main one. There's too many people on the track in the same time. A 500-600m loop around the track would free up space in the inside track and it's going to be more enjoyable (and safe!) for everybody. Just my thoughts
@@jamesromano3288yes - me, you and everybody who wanna use it! if there's a demand to use the track the same guys who wanna use it can donate money or if they prefer they can volunteer. when our local track was abondoned by it's owner, a bunch of us hobby joggers decided that we're gonna maintain it. we clean the garbage and remove weeds that started to grow from the cracks. it's not that hard when we join together. remember that there's very few running events that can be done without volunteers. people donating their time is huge part of this sport. :)
@ where did i say they should add new track NOW? it's clearly not an option when there's buildings and the space is limited already. i said that when there's a big need for running track and a lot of people using it, it might be a good idea to make a second loop. (also 600m loop is bigger so you can do long runs on it with less turns.) it's a lot of work, but not that expensive if a bunch of guys decide to do it, you have to pack down and level some dirt, it's not rocket science. btw i'm taking care of may local track and i am a volunteer at my local parkrun as it is i doubt you're doing one thing for free, other than talking crap ;)
Que exelente entrenamiento Luis súper duro pero terminaste pudiste negoseae un poco más con tu cuerpo y mente exelente estoy sorprendido felicidades y saludos desde México ✌️🏃
Terrific job! There's no single workout that will make you a winner but you only need one workout to die, as you put it. Consistency is key. Smart move to skip that one rep even if you feel you should be punished for missing a rep 😄
Another great video Luis! Can you put a video out on your post run recovery routine? I’m currently in my taper before my marathon in 2 weeks and all the injuries are coming out (groin, Achilles, shoulder) it’s like my body was in overdrive during my training and now that I finally let off the gas a bit, the engine is breaking down. Is that normal for elite runners too during their taper?
Happens a lot!!! I am constantly using recovery tools at home! Compression boots, massage guns, stretching, self massage, hot tub all help a ton!! Good luck with your race!

that sounded like your heart wanted to burst out!! tough!
It's tough but I'm hanging on haha
They do the 600x6 to8 reps in high school but it creates a huge risk to injury, I always dint agree with short sprints. Rather like longer distance.
15 x 600 that's impressive!
Thank you!
Amazing! If you say 1min recovery does it mean just walking or do you still jogg in a half fast tempo?
This time it was a very easy jog/walk

Wish I had a dirt track like this. They honestly feel better than regular tracks for my feet, but maybe that's just me.
That's true.Prepared surfaces and tarmac put a lot of stress on the feet , knees and joints.
