Ever since the early '90s the French have been afraid to return to the US market. The competition here is too fierce for them. I do think that if they return, the Clio could beat the focus, though.

I'd love to see a 3 door version of this! And i'm confident that the handling department will be well sorted out since it's Renault Sport who tuned this car and they're one of the best people setting up sporty cars.
My father's swore by Renault all of his parenting life, and only had a brief fling with an Opel Vectra (which i would own one of later and love, but not for any other reason than it being my first car). He's had three Lagunas. two station wagons and one sedan. They're not great cars, but they do the job, and they will always be a part of my childhood. I never thought i'd say I wanted a Renault myself, but this Megane RS looks to die for.
That seems like a not bad car. I have always liked Renault for their little hatchbacks. I wish one day they would just build something insane. Car throttle rules!!!
Brody, they took a normal Mk2 Clio and stuck a 3 litre V6 in the back of the (then) tiny Clio, made it rear wheel drive and stuck massive intakes on the side of the car. That said it would be brilliant if they did something similar again or made the Renault Zoe e-sport a reality.

Reason being they are not slush boxes anymore, the modern auto transmissions make the car quicker, more efficient and easier to drive than any manual transmission can.
*Click*ele yeah you're right DCT's are incredible and I definitely don't hate them, but some cars like the Megane RS don't really need a super fast automatic transmission because I think they’re the kind of cars where the driver experience is more important than how fast it is. As for super, sport or hyper cars I think you’re absolutely right. Those cars can benefit a lot from DCT's and they should use them. I think that's kinda where the hate comes from: DCT's are great but not every car needs them.
To each their own of course but I don't understand why everyone goes on about autos being bad. It's not the 80s anymore and they're awesome systems nowadays. Having said that, I'm glad they've given the choice for people who really don't want an auto because RS cars are fantastic to drive.
Civic would like nice if it weren't for the fact that it looks like they took a normal civic and backed it up into a wall.... The whole side proportion of the car looks squished and forced. But yah overall the Renault looks better exterior wise. Interior wise however the civic looks much better.

Small correction, the Mk3 facelift at 0:50 isn't a Trophy. All Trophy's came with specific wheels and silver front blade and of course the side stickers (which some owners choose to remove)
Power is not the answer. (or, is a DIFFERENT answer) I like the way there are taking, putting money on agility, and not on super-sized V8 to power a boat on wheel.
The car is designed to be obtainable by mere mortals... Sticking in an engine over 2.0L makes the cost of ownership more then the target demographic is willing/able to pay. Plus fuel economy and emissions also play a huge role I am sure, but everything boils down to money in the grand scheme of things. Then of course with the way manufactures are obtaining power from smaller engines these days, there really is no need to shoehorn anything bigger into the car.

I've always find that to be absurd. What regulations ? Smog tests ? As if this Megane polutes more than any V engined car in the US. Safety regulations ? It's on par (and the normal Megane is already more than that) with the already highly strict european rules. So is it just a matter of fitting side reflectors and mph reading dials ? Or is it just some disguised protectionism ?
This is far more complex than that. Learn about regulation before judging, as a student mechanical engineer specialised in cars i can tell you it's far more than a bumper and some lights

It's a sequential gearbox(at least here, in Italy), a semi-automatic. You still have control on the car, just without the clutch

Professor M.Exactly, i mean if people prefer a manual then fine that's cool but the EDC really is superior and alot of manual drivers don't like that their preferred choice is outdated and inferior so they will fiercely defend their manual irrationally at times regardless of logic.
M. Ronge you know not to be the bearer of logic but you CAN shift it yourself, you see those paddles? you know what they do? the + Paddle upshifts when you press it and the - paddle downshifts when you press it. your welcome.
James Hewitson I want a clutch that you can press yourself, use the stick shifter to put it in gear. That's real driving. I don't like it when the computer does everything for you. I rather like to do it myself.

ThaDutchDK1989 I highly doubt It has a relevant effect; the floor has to be flat and the riding height a lot lower. I might be wrong, but It looks so fake. The same Can be said about the new Civic, fake winglets everywhere :'c
the floor is flat till the rear axle same like clio 4 rs and clio 3 rs.. so.. it works
