    Ive been around multiple 7000 planters for 20+ years and never have drive chain issues. Be sure your chains are good and replace your idlers. Also check chain alignment.

    Congratulations on your first field planred !! We gad a 6 row 7000 and we never had a problem with the chains coming off ! But I guess we sold it in 98 so maybe that's why !!! Everyone is saying to replace the chains but maybe its the sprockets that are worn and helping the issue since you feel it got better , maybe it's because the rust was wraring off the chain and sprocket wear point

    We converted our 7000 to Pequea top drive. It's not an overly difficult project and would make a good video and I'd highly recommend this conversion or your planter. We converted ours because the chains kept falling off. We sold that planter earlier this year but I have some pictures of the finished install if you want to see it. We bought the kit from The Planter Shop in Colby, WI. Give them a call and talk to them about it, they're a great resource for Deere planters.

    Always a challenge starting with a new-to-you planter. I had a couple issues on the last day of planting corn at my son's place...but got everything resolved and finished planting. Finished drilling beans today. Our forecast in Ohio is for rain tomorrow, so nice to have that wrapped up. Hope the weather cooperates so everyone can get rolling on hay.

    I know i have put the chain through the idlers wrong before and then sit there scratching my head wondering why it won't work. The 7000 is a great planter and it can be adapted to so many different ways of planting. A guy doesn't need to go into hock buying a new planter with all the electronics. But if you want GPS and auto steer a guy can add that to any tractor with negative ground and power steering.

    that's to easy, back in the day, we handled tons of bagged corn & fertilizer ! And don't be like my Brother, he was young and wanted to plant corn, so we gave him lessons, so he planted about 25 acres, when it came up, it was every other row, so we talked to him about it and we looked at the planter and a sheer pin in the one drive wheel sheered off, so he says, Oh, I was wondering why I never had to put corn and fertilizer in the one side! WHAT? so we went and planted every other row, it was a 2 row planter!

  • @r.scotthill3082
    @r.scotthill3082 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I know it's too late now, but you obviously didn't have that planter ready to start planting. The planter pass is the most important pass you will make in a corn crop and you only get one chance to get the stand that will make an excellent crop. Every chain and idler on the planter should have been replaced seeing the terrible shape they were in. You need to find a TH-cam channel with a good planter preseason check through and follow it to the letter. You must do everything right to get results.

    I realize this video is 6 months old and maybe you have addressed these issues, if so, just ignore me. But 2 things. At 16:40 you can see fertilizer Blowing out of the box from the shaft/bearing section/ hole. Just a heads up just in case you didn't know.
    Secondly, why are you plowing with your planter? Each of your rows are leaving deep rows behind. That can fill in and cause a kill off of your crop. Again, you may already know this by now but just in case I'm just asking to give a heads up and help out or learn something new. Best of luck.
